sorry I let the last thread die
Going off some advice I got earlier I decided to get another HP. My current 2016 Pavillion has an Intel i5, with 12 gigabytes of RAM, a 1 terabyte hard drive, and a basic intel integrated graphics card. In terms of gaming and overall speed, how big of a performance boost would I see from upgrading to a modern model like the HP Pavilion Aero with an AMD Ryzen7 processor, AMD Radeon Graphics, 16 GB memory and 512 GB SSD?
>>
The performance boost will only be palpable when undertaking demanding tasks. For general use, the difference wouldn't be much discernable.

Just get a hp Envy.
>>
>>103254828
I figured it would be like that but I'd just be happy to run any given game on normal settings.
>>

Right now I'm torn between the Aero, the Plus, and the Victus. Is the Envy worth the extra cash?
>>

Don't buy AylmaoD laptops. They are slow. Look for intel. Same price

I'm not looking at Alienware at all. I've heard nothing but bad things about them, and Dell as well.
>>
Stupid fucking thread. Use google
>>
>>103255007
Just make sure it has intel chip. I have HP laptop too. It's fine.
>>

Google gives you aids and woke results now. Get fucked
>>
>>103254890
Well, do you necessarily want it to be a feather-light ultrabook? If not, Victus is always an option.
I do not understand why HP ended the Pavilion Gaming line-up in favor of Victus. HP Pavilion Gaming laptops were such soulful-looking icons with alluring green and violet/dark pink backlit keyboards and that iconic hinge design—God, so much pure sovl!

You're not welcome here. Go back to the catalog.

>use Google
>the first dozen results are ads and sponsored content
>a link to hps website
>some youtube reviews of random models with zero strong opinions and lots of conflicting info in the comments
>more ads and sponsored content
>some random reddit posts arguing about screen color and processors
>more ads
Wow, simply brilliant

>Is the Envy worth the extra cash?
To the wallet? No, undeniably not. Stunningly pleasurable to the eye? Yes, with absolute certainty.
>>
>>103255028
I'm thinking I might go with victus if I find a good price, is it worth it to try to make a custom one online or am I okay just trying to find it in a store? I've seen people saying they got a good deal at costco.

What's wrong with AMD chips?
>>
>>103253939
I think you are mostly getting the same level of performance as the 2016 laptop when its on battery. Modern processors are supposed to be efficient and not eat up all the battery life. But once its being charged it should be a faster but don't expect more than 50% on average. Biggest improvement would be better hardware accel support for various media formats. Heat might be a problem though most of the newer ones are thin and heatup a lot more than the old ones.

Why do you even want to upgrade, OP??
Please provide 3 (three) compelling reasons.
Also, have you abandoned the thread yet again?

1. It's seen heavy wear and tear over the past 10 years which has effected both appearance and probably internal components given the other problems I've been having
2. The battery life is significantly decreased to the point I get start up warnings about it
3. It's slowed down considerably
4. It's been randomly crashing, and I mean completely crashing not just freezing up
5. It's been randomly making horrible screeching noises
6. I'm tired of having to play tf2 on low settings with a stutter
>>
>>103255450
Yeah i was reading that last night, made me think I should probably go with the victus if I want to play newer games

Lol, Intel is good again?

Might as well use this thread instead of making a new one. I'm looking for a cheap laptop for work. I develop mobile apps with flutter, but I've decided to learn real programming in between projects so I'm also doing silly shit with c++ and rust. I've been reocmmended the thinkpad t480, which I could get for like 200-300€ depending on wheter it comes with the i5 or i7. Is it a good choice? Should I get something more modern?
>>
>>103259946
Thanks but I don't want a tablet

Alright thanks guys I think I'm going to get a victus.
