1080p60 cards would be something like the 4060 (or XX60) cards. If you're concerned about power consumption then be wary about the 30xx cards like the 3060 since they're power hogs in comparison to the 4060.
The current catch with GPUs however is their gimped VRAM and cost despite VRAM.

8GB VRAM is perfectly fine for a mix of high and medium settings @1080p. 12GB VRAM even more so.
If you want to start heading into more demanding games and higher resolutions you're looking at a card upgrade or lower graphics options. A 4060 is a pretty economical choice I'd say. It's just not something that'll last unless you stay away from big releases.

This is what I'm planning on grabbing along with a 7800X3D to upgrade from my 12900k/DDR4, assuming I don't spot any better BF deals is there anything crazy objectionable here?
I'll be keeping the same PSU/Case/GPU, I've already got 2 NVME drives but one's only 500gb so I'll just drop it if there's any lane fuckery issues.

>Workstation/high end: consider 2x48GB
I've currently got 64, it keeps Solidworks happy and is more than enough for my local models, any specific reason to go up to 96?

>Not getting an X870E Nova
ASRock no longer has an Australian distributor for some reason so it's expensive as fuck and has no after sales support.

Odd choice for a production rig. It's an odd choice, too, for a high-end gaming rig now the 9800X3D is out.

>to upgrade from my 12900k/DDR4
Doubly so when you already have a 12900K. Sure it's not the fastest thing around any more but it's still a strong performer. Faster in multicore than the R7, even.

I want to buy a stupid expensive flagship OLED monitor and its own sale for as cheap as it has ever been. Earlier this week it was $100 off for an Early Black Friday sale and I called the store and they said that would be the best price but now it's another $100 lower. So I'm wondering if I should wait for real Black Friday. Do you think there will be even better prices next week or should I pull the trigger now? This is the lowest the monitor has ever been anywhere in my country (1300 USD on sale for $1,100 USD)

Yeah, plus WoW, BG3 etc.
Plus I'll be going from a 4090 to a 5090 when it launches early next year, and I figure now's a good time as any to go to DDR5.
I'm fully aware that in most games at 4k I'm not going to see any meaningful uplift, though the improved 1% lows will be nice to reduce OLED VRR flicker

I hate the current Megazord style of the giant cases and the RGB stuff
The only piece of RGB I had was built into the fan on my old air cooler heatsink, now that's gone there's nothing RGB
With no CPU cooler inside there's now a decent amount of space in my mid size case

I've got a big panel of clear acrylic plastic and I'm going to cut it into a new side panel to replace the glass, with a hole cut out for the cooler tubes and some new vent holes. I'm also making a new top panel to replace the gauze that was there, which will seal away the interior from the cooler fan airflow

Why does getting a new monitor have to be such a pain in the ass? Got a new pc like 4 months ago without upgrading my decade old monitor and ive been pushing buying a new one away all the time because i just cant pull the trigger. Whenever I feel like one is decent i read reviews about dead pixels, bad backlight bleeding and other shit that scares me away. Also the fact that idk anything about calibrating it and getting the right settings with hdr or not, color modes etc when it will arrive already drives me nuts. I just wanna plug it in and use it for fucking 5+ years without any issues is that too much to ask. And like I said ive been pushing it away for months but now is the stupid black friday shit and theres a lot of price reductions so i feel pressured to make a decision today.

hey pcbg, wanted your opinions on this. i have the antec flux pro and a 420mm lf3 and i wanted to mount it on the front with tubes down, but saw that there is no space, so instead of mounting it with tubes up i decided to put it on top. the configuration that i think is best is pic related, with the rad fans in pull config and case fans in front and rear as exhaust; the gpu has its on intake on the bottom.
cant do any tests because im still missing the cpu from the build, but do you think putting the rad in front or configuring the top rad fans as exhaust instead of pull might be better?

Depends on the game, there aren't many with good enough HDR implementations and AutoHDR/RTX HDR are kinda shit.
Cyberpunk with HDR on OLED monitors is a super impressive experience.

Only thing to know is that HDR is generally mastered for dark rooms. You lose the effect with current display brightness capabilities in brighter environments.

Are there any PC Parts I should consider getting before the Tariffs hit? I need to get more Storage but idk if I should get a 2nd M.2 or an SSD, right now I can get a 4TB SSD for around $170 but what about RAM? I have 32GB which I know sounds overkill but I play Modded Minecraft unironically with my Frens so should I just say fuck it and buy another 32GB of RAM?
Also a hypothetical question, is it worth buying Computer Parts in bulk and reselling them after the Tariffs cause a /g/SHTF? I won't be reselling them for a lot maybe just an extra hundred depending on the demand and yes I'm broke so thats why I'm asking bros.
>>

>can simply turn it off and it will be SDR right
yes, it's not a hard-locked feature.
>HDR is not good (even a fake version
you're probably looking at a traditional IPS/VA display without MiniLED. these usually aren't able to display HDR properly, they can only interpret the HDR data being passthrough to them.
true HDR requires high brightness granularity (at least up to 1000nits) and extended color gamut. the latter can be found on any display, but brightness control is still iffy outside of OLED monitors.

Okay thanks. Right now im about to have to make a big decision whether i get this (after doing quite a bit of research this seems to be one of if not the best QHD budget monitor although i read about a bit of a gamble when it comes to the panels) 1440p 27'' monitor:
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B0C9R15T26?tag=rtings-de-mn-21&ie=UTF8&th=1

or I save 50-70€ and get a 24'' 1080p monitor. Both will be insane upgrades from my old 27'' 1080p 60hz one from 2012. But im still torn.
>>
>>103256491
you can't do much better than the Dell G2724D as far as traditional IPS go, it's a great monitor. it's a huge step-up from 1080p if your PC can handle the higher load

I don't think its going to go back down to Prime Day sale price. I wanted to pick up the 4tb version myself but ended up getting the sn850x instead because of that.
Likely pick one up around christmas as deals might be better then. Or maybe as BF sales go on they'll lower it.

Thats good to hear. I got a 6750XT but i mainly use it for watching youtube, streams and browsing anyways. I dont play that demanding games so I should be fine in terms of PC handling I think.
Im just a bit nervous because so far in my life I used a 27'' and a 22'' 1080p monitors with TN panels and they both worked for decades till this day and now Im getting the first IPS one and I read all this bad stuff about dead pixels, backlight bleeding, IPS glow etc. so I hope I wont get a bad one and it will work for a long time

If my pc specs appear as the minimum recommended . Should I take that as a sign to upgrade my PC
>>
>>103256715
If the game runs like shit at the settings you want, that's when you upgrade
>>
>>103256715
Depends how much you wanna play that specific game right now (and other new games I guess), what your current PC is, what you would be upgrading, what you might be able to sell if that's your thing etc. Sometimes minimum specs work fine like if you just wanna play it on the lowest settings you could have a great experience for just the price of the game instead of the game + $100s worth of components
I member when people were building new PCs to play Fallout 76 and then had to upgrade them by the time a new game they actually wanted to play came out

I'm from east, but not that far east. It's a crazy deal equal to $400 AOC in US they got now. People order them and they come without problems. They promise 3 years warranty, but I have to send it back to china myself.
Also it's a good model, the only relevant difference with MPG is the HZ.

Wilds ran like absolute dogshit even on high-end systems. Capcom is relying on frame generation to get it to acceptable performance levels rather than actually fucking optimizing the game.
Anyone who says "it was just an old build bro it'll be better at launch!" is coping.
If you want to run it at a decent frame rate you should probably start looking at some new parts. I'm ordering new parts very soon myself. Maybe consider moving to AM5? For gpus I'd wait until the next gen comes out, unless you see a crazy good deal on a good card before then. All the current cards will likely be cheaper either way before Wilds releases in february so even if the new cards are overprized dogshit you can get an older card for cheaper.

Is the 6900XT a good enough upgrade from a 1070? Found one locally for 350 euros.

>I don't know how to determine if it was mined with.
practically you can't except looking at the seller, memory can just die one day, that's the risk with mining cards
other factor if it was freshly repasted repadded could also mean it's a mining card, they do that
>>
>>103256921
Depends on the model itself, case, drivers, etc.
110C is the TJMax so if it's hitting there at stock then it needs to be opened.
>>

>>103259056
I think the issue most have with the idea of burn-in is that they realize they don't actually use a monitor for more interesting purposes than browsing the web 99% of the time.
If you were actually using the monitor for dynamic content like media consumption and gaming you wouldn't even care about burn-in because it's unlikely to ever be significant.

You have to accept OLED is not a tech for budget-conscious users or buy-it-for-life crowd. It's not meant to be a replacement for traditional monitors and isn't fit for productivity and static applications.
Once you've done your coping about that, you can start using the monitor with the slightest care just in case (black wallpaper, hidden taskbar, auto-standby) and call it a day.

I know and that's what I'd go for if I wanted one personally, but everyone seems intent on buying the overpriced 4k models. At $1000+ it's fair to picky.
>>
>>103259385
Sure, as am I. I have two very shitty, very old 1080p monitors that I've been lugging around since I owned a 970 GTX that I still use because, inconceivably, the dimming isn't bad to the point where I can't use them for reading/emails/videos/etc. I am doing that right now in fact. But the point is, everyone shouts from the rooftops about how OLED are bad because of the burn in. And I look at that as being a bad investment, as a consequence. However I've been told repeatedly that QD-OLEDs and current burn-in protection protects against that, and these monitors all come with 3 year warranties against burn in. Even if I have to deal with Asus' notoriously shitty customer service, the point being is that there's a 3 year shelf-life on this thing at a minimum. I do the math, okay, I bought this for a grand. That is 333.33~ a year, what could I have purchased with that same money in a year? Is that price point low enough to justify the expense? If burn in starts to happen by the third year and they replace the panel, and I get another 3 years out of it (roughly), that cuts down the year-over-year price down to $167. Is that number low enough? That's how I work on purchases like this. It's how I buy my cars, my appliances, and basically, everything that isn't a daily, weekly, or monthly expenditure goes through this flowchart in my head.

I Just found out the S90D 55" in europe is a fucking WOLED - It's over, only the 65" is a QDOLED
the QDOLED TV Meme Dream is over

>>103259346
>but also wouldn't want one because they're not really meant for computers.
give me a reason, the same panels have been used in "Monitors" just with DP ports added
other than being a tv it's the same, other than pixel layout and other things
many used them as monitors

>>103259372
>I'm sure you don't even own a single one of those displays.
I don't, I've seen them irl tho
I'm gonna consoom one shortly though, most likely, highly likely

>>103259359
if you don't value shit don't buy the best of something
if you care, you would
anything can fail, no guarantee your lcds will last 2 decades

>>103259438
oled tvs and shit cost less and have been less than tiny 4k lcds
there are lcds cost more than the 4k oled monitors right now too

>>103259441
I had burn in on lcd before and it only showed in certain color aspects, just because you have burn in does not make the entire display obsolete, unless you are autistic/or need 100% pristine looks in every color spectrum
I already detailed before how you can abuse the panel replacements from various vendors too regarding tvs, and buying additional insurances if you need before too
but anyways
>>
>>103259494
>give me a reason
Sleep modes function differently. Input functions differently. Many TVs require tv remotes to adjust settings. Also something I didn't know - TVs don't do well with small colored text. Either way, I don't have room for 42 inch so I have no interest in continuing this conversation.

New to PCs and I'm planning on cloning my Crucial SSD boot drive to a newer Samsung one using an Sabrent enclosure. Is there anything I should know before hand? What program should I use for the cloning process and would I run into issues since I'm cloning into an SSD of a different brand?
>>
>>103256467
because it's consumerist bullshit and the prices are the same or more and just claim to be heavily discounted
it works, too
>>
>>103259332
Ask in another PCBG thread. As long as you make 1 of the first posts you will get a bunch of advice
>>
>>103259544
Crucial SSDs usually come with acronis and it does the job fine
>>
>>103259524
>TVs don't do well with small colored text
they haven't done well with text for a long time, even back when CRT TVs were the norm. probably because TVs are built for bbc coverage

9800X3D buyers are having hard times finding motherboards for them
>>
>>103259565
No, we're having a hard time finding the good motherboards for them, lol. If you want an E, you got like two, maybe three choices that aren't stupidly priced. If you want X870, there are more, cheaper options and some people would argue that's the better choice, but I'd leave that up between you and your God.
>>
>>103259565
almost any am5 board would work
>>
>>103259544
I'd use a Linux machine and run dd command. Different brands are no problem.

>>103259565
I just want the fucking X870E Nova so I can finally build my shit

Asrock finally slipped, wtf is wrong with x870 of riptide?
>>
>>103259619
That's 550€ minimum here, I'm already pushing very hard for the Nova
I originally planned on getting a X870 RS or SL but apparently it's that much better
>>
>>103259524
>Sleep modes function differently
just use a screensaver, sleep the tv with remote, or use lg companion app

sure, you only have hdmi but more inputs too

more adjustments is better though
>TVs don't do well with small colored text
worse ppi and the different subpixel layout yes sure on the oleds

don't buy it then. I can get the c4 42" for 777€, maybe I will consoom it

there's ways to check this shit now and honestly with the deals I've gotten last year and the ones I'm looking at this year I haven't seen the prices go up or stay the same while claiming it's a black friday sale

8tb m.2 drives are still too expensive. Fuck the worst korea
>>

What's even a good mobo for it? I was considering a MAG B650 Tomahawk but I think I might get a B650 Steel Legend instead since it's barely any more expensive here.
>>
>>103259622
RAM and mobo are atrocious. Ddr6000 with cl30. Get b650m HDV. Use the monies for better GPU. 7800xt or 7900gre. Can you get a kc3000 SSD? That HDD is no good. What monitor you planning on running?
>>

SSDs are never going to be well priced again

Nova is worth the initial price, not the scalped. Also, check out gigabyte x870e boards. I bought the x870pro rs WiFi.

Yes, nas drives are better. I'd buy ironwolf nas, Ironwolf pro, the WD ultrastar DC series. 8 or 10tb is around the best value right now.

I could get it for $291, while the Steel Legend is $258. The site starts its blacked friday sale in about 14 hours so I'll see if either of them get a good deal.
>>
>>103259778
Where the fuck do you live that you are unable to find x870 pro rs? If you can't find it, buy any asrock x670e or b650e boards that are reasonably priced.

27" 1440p with 180hz or higher is pretty cheap. Consider a nice monitor. Depends on local market, here id choose exos or ironwolf.

The whole line-up is scalped to death in EU, even a Steel Legend is bordering on 300€.
I did just find some Taichi Lites in stock for 440€ so I might get this instead.
>x870pro rs WiFi
I'm also thinking 440€ is retarded for a mobo, so I might downgrade to the Pro RS or SL that seem more than good enough.

Fuck, picking a mobo has never been that hard for me.
