How is it that larger format oleds seem so much more prone to burn in than the oleds used in phone screens? My previous phone I used for over 6 years and it's oled screen never had any amount of burn in. And phone screens get much brighter than monitors because they have to operate outside. Nor do they have any of the extended rejuvenation cycles either. I understand that desktop usage is about as worst case scenario as it gets for oled, but even still the speed at which you see burn in reported online seems greatly accelerated. >>103366566Literally the only thing MiniLED has over OLED is peak brightness. Otherwise it still has flaws like: >>103366204 / >>103352640Only big size low PPI MiniLED TVs are decent. Otherwise OLED still has >>103366661 and better motion and response time. Also you won't see any MiniLED phones, where the power saving is a great advantage of OLED. OLED isn't perfect, it's definitely a stopgap, but it will still be the least shit option (outside of burn-in which has gotten a lot better over the years, if you can't accept the fact that you can get the least shit screen on the market for any use, TV or PC, for less than a 1000 bucks but it will only last you around 3 years of heavy use, don't get OLED, simple as) but a stopgap that will be relevant for years to come still.Pic unrelated.
Just bought a 1440p IPS panel because OLED isn't suitable for desktop use due to text fringing and burn-in. By the time I need to replace this panel microLED should be everywhere.
>>103354612>I was thinking qd-oled was Samsung's thing. It is. Anon is just talking bullshit.
>>103367667>OLED isn't suitable for desktop use due to text fringing and burn-inreally not a problem anymore
Buying OLED to get the best:basedSticking with old LCDs because they last and cost nothingbasedWasting money on brand new LCDsTranny retardation
>>103367667you could have just not bought anything and WaitedTMUpgrading monitors is among the most retarded things to do with a PC since so little changes over the yearsA decent CRT from 1996 is still great today
>>103346193Only artists worry about burn-in.
>>103368931>artistsautists
>>103354383Your phone isn't displaying Fox News 24/7.>neither is my TVThen burn-in isn't a problem, it's only a problem when you show the same logo non-stop for years and years.
>>103368996this was the case with CRTs.With OLED you can get burn in with only a couple thousand hours of regular use
>>103369032No you can't.
>>103352640/thread>>103346410nice calibration retard
>>103368996There's still elements that largely remain the same on phones. Like the nav bar or notification bar. Plus many apps have a lot of static elements that remain on screen.
Just got my first OLED, the colors are so intense, I saw someone post a Swiss flag on /pol/ and it was like a red laser shined into my eyes
>>103348276What's wrong with them in that size?
>>103371425Is this good or bad?
Why settle? These are consumer devices that are designed to be e-waste in a few years. Why would you settle for VA or IPS when you only have one life to live?
>>103346193>>VRR flickerI thought this would be an actual problem but VRR flicker is nonexistent when your FPS only sways 10 frames or similar, where VRR shines. Don't know what shit setup you have that you have FPS all over the place.
>>103356034>crtYou guys are almost as entertaining as the image format autists, keep it up
Every modern phone has an OLED panel, why are people bitching about them on monitors and TVs?
here is laser TVs on sell
>>103373683Uh? CRTs are the best choice for /vr/ and old /a/ + /tv/.
>>103374056>and old /a/ + /tv/.Only because of interlacing, but now a days deinterlacing is really good and really easy to do.
>>103374105Even deinterlaced, filtered and AI upscaled 480i media ripped from VHS won't look as good on a modern big OLED as it would on an actual CRT without processing.
>>103371769Good, playing Deus Ex for the first time in 17 years and I love how dark the shadows and how glowy all the little sci-fi lights are
>>103346268QLED chads just keep winning
>>103346193It sounds like you're buying absolute dogshit OLEDs.
>>103346193>MiniLED is very competitiveHAHAHAH>MicroLED is right around the corner 2 more weeks right?
>>103346193Its not? Something like 60-70% of people on Steam still use ISP and 1080 or 1440. The problem with both of those monitors is we've capped out the tech so companies can't do anything new. Reviewers also can't just keep talking about 1080 and 1440 because both spaces are finished, so they rant and rave over 4k and OLEDs because they're new even if both are still pretty shit for different reasons.
>>103374811>ISP40-30% of normalfags host their own ISP????
>>103374864>He doesn't have direct peeringpoorfag...
>>103374811That fact that you immediately think of PC monitors when majority of OLEDS being sold are TV’s is a good sign you need to touch grass.
>>103374902>Caring about TVsOk Boomer
>>103374811>even if both are still pretty shit for different reasons.OLED currently is (sadly) the least shit option overall for a screen...
>>103374959For a TV sure, for 90% of people who mix use monitors OLED is worthless. They're going to either get scared of burn in or turned off the terrible text from misaligned pixels.
>>103374972No, in general. Having used a C2 for years as a monitor, burn in is a pretty overblown problem and never panels do even better. >terrible text from misaligned pixels.Don't use ClearType, grayscale anti-aliasing is where it's at, people keep parroting this for some reason even though they obviously never tried, it's a non issue these days. The monitor OLEDs don't use RWGB though, like the QD-OLED Alienwares and whatnot.
I got my very first dead pixel on my lg c1 oled tv, is there a way to prevent others from appearing?
>>103375014>grayscale anti-aliasingYou've instantly lost 99% of people. People plug and play they don't bother to tweak or interact.
>>103375055Pray
>>103346193>MicroLED is right around the cornerThat's what everyone kept saying about SED, FED and Laser TVs back in 2009 when Plasmas were still the best quality TVs, and look what happened.
>>103375062The average person, even gamer, won't buy OLED anyways, not even a monitor. You know that most people who don't have an idea about something will end up with a sub optimal experience in general, OLED might be the least shit display tech overall currently but if you don't know shit about it, you won't care. I'm talking about people who are at least somewhat tech savvy obviously.
>>103375092>The average person, even gamer, won't buy OLED anywaysI was in Best Buy a few weeks ago in the TV section and was talking with a few people. Out of the four or five people I chatted with, only one actually knew anything about the different display technologies. They all were looking at two things, price and what stuck out to their eye the most. They all were naturally pulled to the OLEDs because the color is so much better than the LED units. It’s not going to be too much longer until OLED start bordering on ubiquity in middle class and higher households.
>>103346193VRR flicker? What about the constant low frequency PWM flicker that all OLEDs have?
>>103375177the average American buys the biggest TV they can at the 100-300 dollar rangeOLED is not included in that
>>103375177I was mostly talking about PC use though. OLED being cheap these days, yeah people are adopting it more and more.
>>103375251If you're a poorfag maybe, for most of middle class America the TV is still a status symbol.
>>103375323Oh 100% I judge you based on your TV. It tells me if you have good taste and know what you’re buying or if you’re an idiot that goes out and buys garbage because “they’re all the same”.
