These look like an interesting set. Was looking a similar set (plastic/resin shell, 1DD) under 100 bucks. The QKZ HBBs i got now sound pretty bad, tho at least they havent shat the bed like many moondrops.

EPZ seems like a good option but I see them as a bit bright, what is the sentiment regarding Zero Red? Outdated?

Foxes are the master race, fox IEM's are the end game, and non-believers are simply afraid of this simple truth so they have to resort to empty insults.

Be sure to give fox IEM's to your relatives as a gift in the upcoming festive season.

im confused, aren't the hexa and 500lm the most shilled pos on reddit?
>>
>>103346927
Yes, they are. Unironically simgot got their start from astroturfing reddit as well. Literally a brand new unknown brand until redditors with new accs with iems they don't own started posting glowing praises, linking youtube reviewers.

I don't understand the fixation on 500lm. Simgot makes some normal IEMs. Why shill this trash in particular.
>>
>>103347026
that's what i find strange, they're well-built and are solid, but no reason to shill them so much
>>
>>103347026
It's just a single anon that buys all the sub $100 super hyped iems on reddit. 500LM is the latest and most expensive one he owns, so it's less shilling but more sunk cost fallacy.
>>
Great, now that I got the EPZ Q1 Pro's and the Moondrop Spring Tips, I'm thinking about making them wireless in some way, either via a Bluetooth DAC/AMP or a 0.78mm wired adapter. Fun.
>>
>>103347084
nice, take a look at the hiby w3 ii or fiio btr13 for bt dac/amps
i wouldn't go for the tws modules/adapters, many reports of inconsistent connection, annoying noise floor, etc
>>
>>103347110
utws5 is a weird case where the volume in its app changes its noise floor. You can make it inaudible but then it loses quite a bit of its already not impressive power. Other hooks are even worse. Haven't tried ifi go pods yet.
>>
>>103347026
warm but not muddy sound that shines with clarity without sounding thin, all of this enveloped inside the spherical 3D soundstage with accurate imaging and packing a punch regardless of frequency, it's so magical I can endure its bumped 5k which starts to get uncomfortable after about an hour of listening to more intense music anyway and after EQing it down just a bit it's close to perfection

I've been here for about 2 years now, but even I'm starting to get tired of every /iemg/ thread being the same poorfag circlejerk posting the same $8 dongle and $20 pos. Head-fi may be snake-oil puffing retards but at least they express genuine enthusiasm over new releases.
>>
Remember, all the subjective descriptions are retarded. Techs are schizophrenia. Individual HRTF does not exist, the pos can be either good or bad. New meta is not neutral and it's shit. Harman is shrill and thin and it's shit. All targets with less than +8dB bass are for deaf class 3 listeners. All targets with +8dB bass and higher are for aggressive retards that like their pos sound veiled. No pos is good, move on. Headphones are bad too, they can indent your head and damage your brain. Speakers are the most atrocious of them all with room reflections devastating the sound. Live concerts are even worse. Just don't listen to the music at all, you just won't be able to get it right.
>>
>>103347322
Speakers are the best. The brain subtracts reflections to calculate the location. Fake reflections are bad.

NiceHCK BlueLuna cable:
Indeed as TDM remarked, it's not 1:1 identical to Tea Pro cable. From memory (only demo'd Tea Pro), Tea Pro and S12 Pro cable are more similar, hefty and stiffer, whereas BlueLuna is thinner gauge. A bit memory-kinked in spots fresh out the bag, but it handles more like a lightweight cable with decent pliability. Notbad/10

all things are relative. i dont think $200 is unreasonable at all for a device with battery, screen, wireless connectivity, and all the audio components well-sorted out. (dongles run a similar price range, often lacking the battery, screen, BT function, etc.)
hiby m300, shanling m1 plus, fiio jm21 are $200 or less

Normies stopped buying DAPs due to phones, economies of scale shrank (pricier per unit build), retard audiophiles correlate price=performance, no incentive to improve (huge bricks but mere 8h battery life)
>>
>>103347927
I'm just gonna copy my previous response:

On the macro side, the rise of smartphones basically killed cheap DAPs because for the likes of normies, their phones are 'good enough'. So DAP manufacturers started to cater to the whales and you end up with shit like the M17.

It was only after Apple killed off the headphone jack that low-end DAPs started to see a resurgence again which is why we are seeing cheaper stuff like the Hiby R4 and JM21.

On the micro side, the BOM for high-end DAPs aren't cheap: the DAC, Amp, Qualcomm chip, SOC, screen, battery, crystal oscillator, XMOS all costs money, and small chink companies like Shanling and Cayin aren't exactly in a position to bargain for cheaper prices from parts manufacturers compared to the likes of Samsung or Apple. High-end audio players are also basically smartphones and it's not easy for small chink companies to engineer.

>it's just a DAC
now matter how many times it's been repeated, it's a blatant lie - the DAC is nothing more than a chip that's useless without something greater, in this case it's a USB sound card, back in the day we called all external sound cards that had USB connection like that and no one complained, in fact when the extremely retarded trend of calling them DACs started and I saw a surge of products called DACs, the first thought I had was: is it really just a DAC in a box? nothing more than that? less than the full-featured sound card? does it require external amp and codec? what's even the point in buying that fucking shit over a full-featured sound card? turned out that it was a full-featured sound card, just marketed as le "DAC" to make it sound more pretentious and sell it to people who don't want normal boring sound cards anymore, they want something new, something more audiophile, so they decided to buy those new ordinary external sound cards that are marketed as DAC and from now on nothing is the same as before, everyone calls the sound cards after the measly single part that's inside of them, what's even worse is not everyone decided to call it like that out of their own volition, convenience and/or peer pressure while still knowing the truth behind naming, as at this point zoomers have no idea what DAC really means and the future looks even worse for next generations, the language has been fucked up its ass yet again, technically knowledgeable people will not be able to communicate with non-technical human-shaped cattle on yet another topic because of differences of terminology, so for everyone who has enough working gray matter to muster up at least 100IQ: let's reclaim the correct terminology
>>
>>103349340
Is it still a sound card if it's not in a pc? The card part comes from being stuck in a pcie slot. An external sound card is an oxymoron.
Calling them DACs is fine. It's what they do. They convert digital to analog. It's like calling a locomotive a steam engine. It's the main component.
>>
>>103349485
>Is it still a sound card if it's not in a pc?
irrelevant
>The card part comes from being stuck in a pcie slot
the PCB is a card, it's inside the box, I know it's a stretch but it's not entirely false, so the old analogy still goes on
>Calling them DACs is fine.
it's just as fine as calling IEMs "drivers"
>They convert digital to analog.
they take the digitized sound data from the computer's memory before it and amplify it at the end, without all these ingredients you won't hear anything
technically there are exceptions but not in the hi-fi realm
>It's like calling a locomotive a steam engine. It's the main component.
it's not, in fact the DAC is the component that's easiest to replace, you can use PWM instead of DAC and while it's not desirable if you value quality, without a codec you'd have to use up an enormous CPU power to have your audio synced due to not have any component to do it automatically, whereas without an amplifier you'd hear nothing

Wished the one I've bought in 2010 was not defective (that was the last available in the store and they were not restocking).

etymotics are reliant on their unusually deep seel for proper sound. if you're flubbing the fit because it's uncomfortable, that's counterintuitive to ideal sound and defeating the purpose of having gotten Etys.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as a DAC, is in fact, a DAC/amp, or as I've recently taken to calling it, DAC+amp. A DAC is not a sound card unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning digital-to-analog conversion and amplification system made useful by the op-amps, codecs and vital system components comprising a full USB-connected external sound card.
>>

I'm actually retarded and finally heard something like a peak around 9800 and 12800... but it's hard to localize. Plus maybe it's actually a dip between 9800 and 12800? Or both. Can't really smooth them out with EQ... it sounds as if either I introduce new dip or new peak... For music I can 100% hear how something like cymbals are getting quieter when I lower 9800 Hz by like 4-6 dB... It doesn't really sound worse or better... So basically for me hunt for peaks is basically pointless and influence nothing... Guess I'm lucky.. or deaf

that's harmonic distortion which is considered harmless in small amounts because it's natural to have harmonic overtones. chu 2 has 0.03% THD which is -50dB. whatever flaws are in the DAC are in ADDITION to that 0.03%, and there's a noise component which isn't considered harmless like harmonic distortion.

You have a few options, you can build a passive attenuator but that raises output impedance or you can buy high sinad amp.
Negative amplification is just attenuation, which is what the volume pot does before the signal goes into the amplification stages. There are also some amps with unity gain or negative gain modes but what matters in the end is still just the 50mv sinad number. Also I believe at some point thermal noise gets into the equation but that's mostly irrelevant even for iems.

Let's say I have a hybrid POS with a crossover using capacitors and resistors. If I unplug my IEM in the middle of the song, the caps will have some charge in them. Assuming the charge doesn't dissipate immediately, what happens if I swap the polarity of my cable? Like if I am using a 2 pin connector and I connect it the opposite way. Will a current spike through the drivers when the cap immediately discharges? Is there a scenario where that can happen, using a single ended or balanced cable and some reverse polarity shenanigans?

Its the one i posted with the HBB QKZ's next to them, revision just streamlined shell design from hana 21's and gave them more bass

Literally nothing nggar says or does is worth even a nanosecond of attention, just immediately assume it's bullshit.

There's only two alternatives that matter, baraag for western art and misskey for japanese. Bluesky is a hellhole full of deranged politics obsessed trannies.
>>
>>103359449
And Baraag is full of pedophiles. So, basically just like Bluesky.

Lolicon isnt pedophilia

>Pedophilia: sexual attraction to children
>Lolicon: drawn pornography of children
The "it's drawn so it's legal" defense is running thin btw, tick tack tick tack tick tack
>>
>>103359488
If you see a drawing and think of children you are the pedophile
>>
>>103359495
I'm glad you pedophiles are this retarded, since that means sooner or later you'll get busted.

Need help picking gym IEMs. I've killed 2 pairs now with sweat. In addition to good fit & bumpin bass that I can hear even if the fit starts to change when I strain, I'd like something that has good water resistance. Are IEMs even capable of that, or should I be sticking with TWS? I've been using Galaxy Buds Pro, but they suck at having a stable fit. When the fit's in, the bass is alright with the bass boost in the galaxy wear app but even the slightest facial contortion fucks that up. I'm nervous about going for $$$ Sony buds if they won't remedy that.

>>

>>
>>103359945
I can try something later in a few hours, although like for any earbud EQ it's going to be rather awkward.
Let me know and we can go over it together later

If EPZ can sell a Harman tuned poorfag pos at $35 with 1DD, why would you need more than that to make a higher end pos? Clearly 1DD was always the way to go.
>>
>>103359995
I'd really appreciate that, but unfortunately, in few hours I'll probably be asleep, I'm in CET,
If you manage anything, I'll check it out next thing tomorrow.
