>>107159172Finally finished my build tonight AMD R9, 9950X 3D running a 5.6 GHz Overclock, with a Raspberry Pi air quality monitor inside of it.The stable overclock took a lot of time to set up. But it can completely solve a chess game using Stockfish 17.1, from move 1, in 4 mins 38 seconds, which is very fast. Hopefully, this CPU stays competitive for a few years. The computer itself is mainly used for extremely high speed microcontroller communication, which is why it needs such a high OC. It's able to drive read 7500hz CPU interrupts, so I'm very happy with it.

Can you get away with a PBO -30 on any 9800x3d or do you have to be lucky? Also 900mV on 5090 yes or no?
I don't have to worry about HDD drives going up, right? I was thinking of getting an 8tb Toshiba one (X300), though, apparently they're kind of noisy. Not sure what the threshold for noisy is, I have a Fractal Torrent and while I wouldn't describe it as noisy, it's definitely not quiet. Anyways, I was thinking of waiting until Black Friday to get one.
>>107160548You gotta be lucky to do -30. And anyway -10 on a golden sample would let it run with less voltage and power than -20 on a crap sample so the offset doesn't mean much900mv is pretty low. If you get an average/leaky sample 950mv will let it boost much higher. If you got a less leaky sample then 900mv would be good
>>107160548As the other guy said, the setting isn't some fixed value that is being changed, it varies somewhat as the CPU automatically tries to balance some values to stay stable. I use a conservative -15 and that's really good enough for me. As long as it lets the AIO handle it on shader compilation that is sufficient, same for you.

What's the difference between cheap $150 motherboards and $600 ones?Is it just more complete features like wifi+bluetooth and other shit normal people won't need?
>>107161867Shit monitor, return it and get a new one.
>>107161888Pretty much.First think to look at is how many PCIe lanes it has. More = more expensive. Most consumers only use 1 for their GPU. A video capture card could be plugged in USB-C instead. Sound cards aren't a thing anymore and people use a DAC, basically an external sound card. Network cards are only used if you have a fast network. Unless you have 10Gb/s internet or have 10Gb/s home network, you don't need one.Second, look at the RAM slots. 4 RAM slots are default but you can save more money by going for 2 only. And again, most people only ever use 2 RAM slots.Third, look at the heat sinks. Big heat sinks = more money. They help when you overclock. If you don't plan on overclocking then you don't need big heat sinks, even though they look cool.Fourth, wifi. If you need one then get one, if not then don't. I personally just get one with Wifi because to add wifi you either have to use a wifi card or a USB dongle or some sort.

>>107166484In my country, it went from $330 to $348. The 7800x3d is going for $300, not worth it.What about motherboards? I have no clue what are the good AM5 offerings that aren’t shitty matx boards.
someone bake a new thread i got called a retard for messing last one's second post
>>107166511Seems like if I go for the MSRP 9070xt thats a good deal for the price, but if im considering a yeston waifu sakura 9070xt for $720, i might as well just get the MSRP 5070ti... I just dont know what do
>>107166567At that price I’d get the 5070ti for sure. No point in paying premium for a “budget” card. I’d say follow your heart and go for waifu, but you can always get a custom backplate thingy from aliexpress to add the waifu. Thermals shouldn’t be too bad.
>>107166513What would it say if there was a split?
>>107166094>don't get what you meanbut did you look at my pic? I have armrests attached backwards so they do not interfere when you lean forward and only support when you lean back.

>>107166665Because bandwidth sharing is part of the spec. I guess they could just lie about it but that's a good way to get sued.
>>107166665Like the other guy said, it's an issue for PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots.Your board's M.2 slots are all PCIe 4.0.
>>107166561Lol I wasn't calling you a retard I was just wondering how you were doing that
>>107166727Thanks for the info, Anon!
>>107164922Who knows, probably more about TSMC's readiness and overall capacity than anything else. I can't see Nvidia letting AMD release cards on a new node for months on end without competition. I'm sure the DRAM shortages have something to do with the lateness of the RTX Super refresh, but likely the delay plays more into the big picture. I could see RTX 60 being Fall '27 at the latest. Likely Sony will want the PS6 on shelves for holiday '27, meaning AMD will be producing RDNA5 by then. Honestly a long generation doesn't bother me, as whatever better hardware that developers can get their hands on will just be usurped for essentially no graphical benefit. I'm all in favor of forcing optimizations on current hardware first before allowing them to get their grubby fingers on better hardware.

What would /pcbg/ recommend for an 8tb HDD?

>>107166666now I get what you mean by swapping left and right like the actual fucking arm rest attachmentswell yeah, again now you are accounting for shit being designed that wayanyway, not the main point
>>107166897>DRAM shortagesshortage my assprice manipulationi will wait for rtx 6000 >>107165909save for 5090 or wait for 6000nothing else makes sense since 16gb will be minimum for all models from 5000 super and onand 20gb is right now comfortable no need to worry average
This whole thing reminds me of the whole GPU shortage.Did GPU prices ever go down to regular price? Not sure if RAM and SSDs will be the same.
>>107168154>Did GPU prices ever go down to regular price?Yes.Used RX5700XT were going for over $1000
>>107159172I would have one made out of an early 2000s HP Pavillion, the computer from my childhood, but my dumbass double standard father just threw it out after he gave it to me just because I took too long to do anything with it, and then said I was never meant to have it in the first place. He should've killed himself instead of just talking about it.
