Been using Linux for over 20 years, and I can confidently say that it's fucking over for this shit OS.

No matter what distro I now install, the audio is completely fucked. It can't even play a YouTube video without halting, crackling, popping, speeding up/slowing down, just completely fucking shitting the bed.

It's over. I've tried every "fix" out there for this and none of them work whatsoever. Endless bullshit command line incantations from every corner of the net, and not a fucking single one of them has any effect whatsoever.

I sincerely believe that Linux has been intentionally sabotaged from the inside (embrace, extend, extinguish) in order to make it unusable in current year, all in order to herd the nigger cattle into Windows 11 or whatever cursed slop they churn out next.

Fuck this faggot OS and vile trannies who ruined it. Kill yourselves. What a disgrace you are and what a travesty this is for human freedom, you are demonic scum.

Oh wow, it took you that long. For me it looks like this;
1. dual boot ubuntu at the end of the year
2. is update process good? no- fuck off
3. is drivers support good? no- fuck off
4. is store comfortable to use? no- fuck off
5. do it have software? no- fuck off
6. do I need use terminal and emulation for most things? yes- fuck off

and then I remove partition and wait another year, but this time I will give up, this is retarded, they changed nothing since 2015
>>
>>107179534
kys faggot. the audio works fine after reboot for up to an hour or two (with minor crackling), then it deeply shits the bed and can't play even 5 seconds of a youtube video without popping the speakers so loud (continuously) that i fear it will damage them.

Never in my life had this problem with Linux, ever. Suddenly Debian 13 comes out and everything goes to complete hell. That shit OS is so bad that they even forgot to include a populated apt sources list to download packages, you had to manually copy a working one from elsewhere to start installing anything (they fixed this eventually, but it just goes to show how fucking cancerous and shitty the OS has become).

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

I'm surprised to read this post. In my experience, hardware support is the best it's ever been in Linux. Stuff mostly just works. Sometimes there are problems but there's usually a quick fix that's a Google search or ai prompt away.

I recently bought a new laptop and installed Linux and it worked right away except for a small issue that google's ai instantly found the fix for. I'm a Linux user since 2005 and this experience would have been unimaginable back around then.

Imo the thing that's really ruining Linux is the gtk enshittification and desktop fragmentation from ideological gnome vs everyone else holy wars. Every week there's some news story about the gnome people breaking something else and gitlab discussion memes with stuckup asshole people saying stuff like "that's your misinterpretation."

Au contraire, funding is definitely not their problem, Freedesktop's embrace-extend-extinguish war chest is huge.

Meanwhile, plain ALSA continues to work as reliably as it ever has. You don't get multi stream, but given how much trouble the abominations that are most sound servers cause, that isn't so bad.

I used to have similar inexplicable audio issues up until I changed the audio profile in KDE's audio gui from "Pro Audio" to "Analog Stereo Input/Output". I think there was some doc in the past that said selecting "Pro audio" would reduce audio latency and then I selected that but after several updates that option was redundant unless you actually had Pro Audio equipment and it would just break my setup instead. If you are anti-systemd shill that's your problem. Go watch some troon duke and submit a patch to xlibre.

you appear not to have understood my message, what you are talking about isn't relevant to anything I said.

also it's not a good indicator when you need to talk about the ability to play multiple streams of audio at once, as if that's a challenge or something you need to think about at all. it's something even windows 98's sound system could do

OpenRGB it's only for the RGB, and ROG control center only for Asus peripherals. Where's my support for my VXE Mad R Major mouse or my Attack Shark K85 keyboard?

i used to play L4D2 and KF2 on arch with RX6600, no problems, through steam

the other stuff you said, is just retarded shit
>undervolting your GPU
lmao the fuck, muh tinkering, duuuuuuuuuuuude

>controlling your keyboard and mouse
those proprietary programs suck ass even on windblows
i only use some razer shit on a razer TKL that i use on my work laptop, on windblows 11, because that shit keyboard doesn't have on board memory and i need that razer daemon shit to be running
if i were to buy the full version with the numpad, that one had the on board memory, thus i wouldn't need the software at all

>controlling muh fans
you do that in UEFI, or you just leave it as default, or you use a thinkstation P500 or a dell optiplex (as these computers have other kinds of themal designs, not needing 1 trilions case fans anyway, i guess), and not slop gayming hardware whose motherboards break in just 3 years

Maybe you shouldn't buy hardware if the manufacturer can't be bothered to port their software to Linux? Vote with your wallet.

i'm not that guy, but have you seen what microsoft has done to the context menu on windblows 11?
i still use this OS on my IT shitjob and they fucked the context menu beyond nature, you now have to right click and then you have to click another option in the context menu to bring the old context menu from windblows 10

lmao, what a piece of shit OS
i'm glad i haven't used it on my personal computers for 5 years

at least file explorer has tabs now and the search for files in file explorer doesn't work sometimes XDD

I don't know dude, if anything Linux is getting better with every distro's new release. Things like Bazzite and CachyOS are taking shit out of the park now. And with Steam pushing their Linux-based hardware it'll only get even better support-wise.
Windows is fucking dead.
>>
>>107179518
cracking and popping can be fixed with larger audio buffer settings. i use jack2 (qjackctl) with a 2048 buffer and it works fine. i guess you can try editing your alsa audio config.

but i agree, it's fucking retarded that you'd have to. thing is, macos and windows are speedrunning into being pieces of shit as well. might as well stay on linux where i at least feel a bit more in control of what MY computer is doing.

but lets be real, youtube has become far more of an abomination with hundreds of scripts running while trying to play you a video.
