desu, I did a few bigger and also notable hacks, didn't hurt any individuals and also never caused direct damage. It was purely out of boredom and the thrill to outsmart others or to grab the information barely anyone was aware of, but as you progress in life, breaking into things is slowly but surely losing its appeal.

Making stuff more secure for your house and family becomes rudimentary since you know your way around in that matter.

>>
>>107182256
depends for what use them for like for secure communication you install tails but if you actually wanna hack something you use kali or some distro that has the same tools as kali in it's repos
>>107182179
just trial and error or how did you know that would work?

>>107182340
>some distro that has the same tools as kali in it's repos
Or, y'know, y'could just install them tools? There's a reason kali was selected, and it wasn't the toolchain, that was just a bonus. If you should be using something like kali, you'd know what that reason was.

never hack

I've port knocked my ISPs ubiquity router to unlock the web interface, failed to login, so I failed to check if the antenna actually has a good signal and whether my ISP isn't fucking me over(I've less than 1/6th of my upload speed).

I've changed the windows password with a readily available tool that changes the passwords to recover access to a laptop for my family member.
>>
>>107182475
I've found an RTSP stream using nmap on my brothers action camera so he was able to see the camera stream on a 27" computer screen rather than a tiny smartphone.
>>
>>107182431
because they update shit and and test that the tools actually work?
>>
>>107182490
So what you're trying to tell me, is you use a distro that doesn't update shit as your daily driver? Can you see where you went wrong?

>>107182475
>whether my ISP isn't fucking me over
Commonly, yes. You'd detect this 'better' with something like wireshark. Cunts like T(roll)-Mobile have even been known to re-inject traffic for things like .jpg GET requests to thrash through a user's data qouta faster....
>>
>>107182490
i mean its rolling, i dont use a rolling distro
>>
>>107182475
>fucking me over
This almost certainly happens on every residential connection available.

A primary driver is greed. They'll deploy, say a 10Gbps exhange, break that into 10x 1Gbps connections, then sell that 25 times and hope that no-one actually tries to get what they've paid for at the same time. Ie: oversell their capacity.

Because you pay, commonly monthly, for something measured 'per second'. So you should be able to get, say 1Gb 'per second'. For a month.

Some will even sell you that, then try to tell you it is 'unfair' for you to actually expect it.

And I'm offended that they try to pass off width as speed, too. For a 'road' analogy, Packets of data going down the intelliwebs toobz is akin to cars entering a tunnel. A 1Gbps pipe is tunnel 1000 lanes wide. It doesn't say shit about how fast the cars drive down it....

Freshmen year of high school I witnessed a teacher type her password in the computer lab. I didn't do anything malicious but I was able to go into other kids folders and access their documents. Basically the class was a typing/microsoft office type thing and some days she would hand out printouts and we would have to type the shit out using the specified margins, fonts, spacing etc and save it into our folder, but I was able to just copy it from some other kids into mine and fuck around
>>
>>107183768
I saw a teacher type the password for the old computer, it was "WIN" very short. I felt like a king being the old kid who could get the computer into graphics mode from the terminal

Is this still working? Lots of early card systems used insecure shit, like cafeteria or university libraries cards
>>
Reverse engineered that FUCKING home alarm system that was based on this dreadfully old MediaTek phone processor, hated every second of it ans took me a lot of willpower not to piss on the eMMC. What the fuck is the "hack" in the video supposed to be btw? All I see are a bunch of BT modems, where's the hack? Exploiting some vulnerability in some shitty BLE implementation?

There was this artist back in around 2013 who released mix of free and paid albums on their website. The download URL for the free albums was something like domain.tld/assets/album-name.zip, and I tried using the pattern to get some of the paid albums.

It worked. Pic related, that's me when an album behind a paywall was downloading.
