Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

What's the best AliExpress alternative, especially for more electronic module type stuff?

I deleted my 10 year old Ali account because I got too frustrated with them.
>>
>>107193643
Tangentially related to this, I know that it's more of a question for /diy/'s electronics general, but I have a Nitecore UMS4 battery charger, and my greatest gripe with it is it's micro-usb.
If I just change the connector (would probably be soldering a connector elsewhere and wiring it to the micro usb pads) would the existing circuitry still work for 5V 3A?
>>
>>107192767
Adam Audio T5V / Kali Audio LP6 / JBL 305P II for bookshelf speakers, paired with a subwoofer they might be all you'll ever need (for nearfield use, if you mean to place them in a big living room I'd consider something bigger)
What I listed are all active speakers so no need for an external amplifier, still I'd feed them the audio signal from an external DAC (doesn't have to be an expensive one). Also they are "studio monitors" but they'll be great for basically anything

Anon that keeps buying bootlegs from Ali here, you used Superbuy yeah?
How did you go about it? Did you use Superbuy's search function or did you get the links straight from Taobao?
Also, if you ask the people from Superbuy to declare a lower value, do they do it?
>>
>>107193916
Not that guy but I also use Superbuy.
I use Taobao's link and pasted it in Superbuy. I believe they will automatically declare a lower value, but just ask to make sure.
>>
>>107193895
Same here, hence the quick copy paste. It happens.
>>107193900
Yeah I understand that, but sadly sending individual parts is never cost effective with proper QA, so you either have to gamble on ali with no QA, or pay the premium for shipping.
If you live in a university town or one with a makerspace, do consider calling them up. Mine has a shared account that people put orders into until it makes sense to order together and then they split shipping. It fills up fast enough that there's a order about once a week, and you can get your 3 shitter parts without having to pay 10x their value in shipping costs.
A lot of communities that work with hardware parts here do similar stuff (though the site changes, mine used to only do mouser until a year ago) so it's possible the ones near you do too.
>>
Are Olight lights gud? Gonna gamble on their mystery boxes
>>
>>107193944
Do you happen to know if you need a taobao account to be able to see everything?
Like, I'm worried some figures won't be visible because of some "explicit" toggle or something.
>>
>>107193965
I don't mind the chinky QA that much.
My problem is Ali is more with the site itself. They completely fucked up address handling, constantly deliver my orders to the wrong address and none of the staff cares and they are always automatically rejecting my disputes and make me re-open them every time.
>>
>>107193978
yeah, iirc they tend to choose shit color tints but overall they have good construction quality and they are reliable
>>

Jesus did you like return a pipe bomb at some point and/or speak positively of taiwan (china I mean binquilin)?
Never had a address issue and my disputes get auto approved at this point, I don't even have to talk to support anymore.
>>
>>107194149
No, I simply moved to an address that AliExpress is too retarded to handle correctly.
Their address system forces you to enter a district, which is not something mail addresses in my country ever use, and then changes the postal code you entered to the different postal code of your district town which is completely wrong for mailing addresses here and the mail service can't find it.
>>
Taobao sucks. You need an account to even look at their stores. And after that they restrict your account and you have to provide a government ID. It's so ass trying to buy from them.
>>
>>107194143
according to the botnet infesting the interwebz right now (aka AI), the 870 is about 3x the weight (4oz/115g -> 12oz/345g) and 2x the width of the 8009, but the 870 has better accuracy
If you want to fit it in the loose change pocket of your jeans you'll have a better chance with the 8009
>>
>>107194186
Yeah that could explain it. If you had to dispute multiple times due to that address issue, then your internal rating gets utterly ruined and a low rating means you get automatic dispute closes, rude customer service (if any) and worse support.
My condolences anon.

Somewhere along the line it feels like lego went from "blocks you can endlessly combine to build new stuff" to "display pieces you assemble yourself of popular franchises" and they lost me at some point along that transition.
The set doesn't look bad, but I don't want to showcase much lego in my room, so I don't get much enjoyment from the displaying part, and for the part I do care about - the building, that set looks rather boring. Blacks and greys and few novel techniques. The center piece and car might be fun but that's about it.
I'd much rather have bricks I can actually build with honestly.

EUROBROS

Its over. They pushed de minimis law faster.

>European Commissioner for Trade Maros Sefcovic had proposed to the ministers that the "de minimis" duties exemption for online purchases below 150 euros ($175) be removed in the first quarter of 2026, two years earlier than planned. It should be replaced with a "simplified temporary customs fee", he said.

>European finance ministers agreed on Thursday to bring forward to next year customs duties on low-value parcels arriving in the bloc to crack down on cheap Chinese e-commerce imports, in a move set to hit Chinese online retailers Shein and Temu.

>Anyone got zigbee lightbulbs?
Yeah a bunch.
>Is it private or how does that thing work I dont want to give chinks backdoor to my network just because of RGB lights
It's complicated.
Think of zigbee as its own mesh network that's similar to wifi, but not wifi. But it's probably best to think of it as a wifi network of sorts.
You essentially need a gateway (which acts sort of like a router) and devices which are the nodes in the network.
The devices exist only locally in the network, some even rerouting traffic and extending mesh range.
The botnet comes in with the gateway - you do absolutely need a gateway, without it you can't have a zigbee network. The cheap gateways will require some proprietary app and communicate with the provider's server, hence giga botnet. All data goes through their server.

However, and this is the reason I have zigbee, you can host a local gateway where you are 100% in control, no talking to any servers.
To do so, people usually use homeassistant on a homeserver or raspberry pi, but any computer that's always on and supports docker will do.
Lastly you need a so called "zigbee bridge" which is a USB dongle with an antenna that can talk via the frequency of a zigbee network and act as the new router.
>>
>>107196843
yes, you can
you just have to buy from "local businesses" selling exactly same crap with 5x markup

If you don't find a listing local in your country (this one is in germany), don't bother, shipping cost will fuck the value proposition.

Anyone got experience with those? It’s good that the smaller ones are rated 7yrs and not 18+ as with most Lego, but on the other hand, that probably means some 18+ 5000+ parts behemoth might be a bit frustrating for a 6yo, even when he’s got a 140 IQ in spatial thinking.

Why does aliexpress encourage ordering so many small packages instead of one big package?
>>
>>107194956
looks gay and retarded.

>>107199165
the last time i bought a bunch of shit from ali they combined some of the packages together even though they were from different sellers, but not ALL the things i bought.

>anyone have experience with these ultra cheap cordless soldering irons?
I have one. The solder it comes with is so bad I thought it was broken.

The battery life is (understandably) very short. Having a soldering iron in my laptop bag for when I'm out camping or on my boat is a real life saver though.
>>
>>107199743
knowing that it actually gets hot enough to melt solder is enough for me, thanks.
can't imagine the tips are any good though, not sure how cheap replacements are for these things since i don't know if it's a standard type.
>>
>>107199792
I actually built the whole control board for my second to most recent robot with it.

But like I said, mind the battery.
>>
>>107199867
do you have one that looks like the one in the picture?
or just another cheap one? how long does it take to heat up?

Don't think that 63/37 is the only option, give 60/40 a try as well. I should've known than to give fixed ratios. The important thing is around 40% lead and flux core.
Also, read up on handling leaded solder. best practice is to just not have food or drink at the workbench.
>>107199633
Ok, this needs to be investigated. I haven't purchased solder since ~2014 when my uni was throwing out some spools that "department didn't want leaded in this thickness". 1lb of kester solder is now going for like $50. Kester and MG Chemical can eat a dick at those prices, Multicore gets a slight pass. That's just absurd.
There has to be a decent reputable chinese flux core manufacturer of leaded solder, for a country that does as much electronics as it does. It's a mixture of two inexpensive metals and flux. Can't possibly fuck it up.
has anyone tried pic related?

I recognize the brand as those tweezers that everyone seemed to be fond a few months back.

>>

i've seen a youtube video that compared a bunch of solder wire and that mechanic one was one of the better performing ones.
not sure if there's a counterfeiting problem though where they'll just send you one of the bad kinds with just the labels swapped though so your best bet is to just try it and find out.
the 8watt rating is probably how many watts it draws when charging if i had to guess.
>>
>>107199948
Is there a reliable way of finding the brand's page on ali like you can on amazon?
>>
>>107199961

Wonder if this genuinely them.

>>
>>107199165
aliexpress uses consolidation warehouses where they group up the packages but yeah sometimes its just one package
but its all about money for them and for the EU
if they would not kill every euro industry with their green madness maybe we wouldnt need to tax the minimis
>>
Do they really send you worse version if you buy it through coins?
>>
>>107194858
It's a shitty 11.11 no doubt. You can find videos discussing it even on chink sites.
Is it the end of /csg/ and end of china? Well the channel you posted has made over three thousand videos over 5 years. That's almost 2 videos a day about how chinks are going to collapse en masse and here we still are. It's definitely sponsored FUD, just not necessarily ZOG
>>
>>107200192
I'd believe it for bundle deals/dollar express, almost everything I've gotten through that has arrived damaged in some fashion. I haven't had a bad experience with coins yet.
>>
>>107200192
they sent me one pair of pants instead of 2 once ahhhhhh
>>
>>107194858
this is an anti-chinese content mill channel which is surprisingly lucrative. getting 25-50k views per video for 700 videos a year should be at least 60k and all you're doing is yoinking content from chinese SNS and doing some voiceovers

I just want to browse the stores. A couple of games I play have a store in Taobao and I can't check what they have, and if I can't check what they have I don't know what information I can give to an agent.
If I knew what I wanted to buy then yeah, I always use an agent, Superbuy is great.
>>
>>107200278
bundle deals have always been literally the same exact items but sometimes cheaper for me.
never got damaged items from it either outside of the usual crushed boxes from shipping.
>>
>>107194758
they are scammers anyways, watch that 30% turn into 10% then 4% before they send you your cheque. not even worth it anymore
>>
Dumb question.. I haven't bought from ali in about a year... How bad have the tariffs fucked things in the USA? If I buy some cheap electrical components, will I get raped with custom fees?
>>
>>107201031
they take care of the customs on their side, it's included in the price. You pay what you see.
>>

> fake lego
I’m not looking for lepin style fakes but for “new”, legit brands like Cada and Moull King, which have long overtaken LEGO in price, quality and building experience. Lego only caters to retarded grown ups with too much money (I.e. redditors), but I want something for a kid that wants to learn mechanical principles.
>>
>>107201031
A lot of things are almost double the price from last year, but as what >>107201113 said, what you see is what you pay. Often less if you manage to make use of the bundle thing.

> What cashbacks work BEST for europe?
Does such a thing even exist in Europe? Burger credit-cards just seem so insane to me. Hand them out for free, with great bonii, to get retards in debt that will never see those bonii but have to pay you ever increasing sums forever.
And that no one can claim you’re a lier, you do reward the few responsible customers you have greatly.
It’s really distopian, but I’m afraid dumb people want it like that, and as a responsible adult who’s “good with money” I’d love to get in too!
Also, I’m the LEGO crane anon, look what else search got me!
Does this even make sense? Is this even possible or is this AI? A smol crane? Sure. There’s a few se for those. But this got an insane amount of telescopic elements and must be rather light, so what does it even lift? Styrofoam insulation? (Hope it’s not windy!)

can i trust ali express to refund if i don't get a relatively expensive item?

do anons have good or bad experiences with chinkshit tablets?

Saving them isn't worth it. Women acclamate to their surroundings almost immediately, she might be grateful for a month but after that you will just have a westernised chinkette who yells at you to give her more money.

I'm not gonna change my homeservers entire goddamn OS for one service it runs.
Maybe I'd consider it on a rpi.
>>
>>107193870
yeah as long as you don't use a "power delivery" charger meant to negotiate voltage and supply up to 200w and shit. your average cheap wall fob will yeet out 5v 2a happily

personally i would just solder a short USB-A to the board and get a bunch of cheapo A to A extenders
