why can't I have an email client that works like this?
>>107202247>text-messenger-like organization of contactsleft would get clogged up by 2000+ emails of "GOOD MORNING SAR IS IRS HERE PLS PAY BACK TAX'S IN GOOGLE PLAY CARD SAR THANKYOU" and become useless in like 5 minutes
ITT: we vibecode the thing OP said one prompt at a time
>>107202247you can now, just vibecode it
>>107202270use std::net::TcpListener;
use std::net::TcpListener;
>>107202247use case?

>>107202247>>107202343>>107202270I literally just gave the screenshot to a coding agent and it made it in like 3 minutes (and had it add some things for the hell of it)i imagine you could hook it up to real email pretty easily
Maybe exmh? Except you'd have to make a folder for every single sender.
>>107202445Imagine actually vibe codingLMK how pretty easy it ends up
>>107202458I dont care enough to hook it up to regular email api/data right now desu but i can't imagine it would take more than 10-15 minutesyou could export your gmail or whatever and read it in that way if you wanted
>>107202247>what if I sorted my contact on a text-only protocol without avatars into thumbnails?Were you dropped on your head as a child?
>>107202470it wouldnt be that trivial but i dont think it would be too hard either. youd need a webserver running though at the least. node would be easiest
>>107202685It's utterly trivial to generate thumbnails based on domains, allowing custom thumbnails or falling back on initial. Are you also confused how music players can have album art even if the art isn't embedded into the audio file itself?
Turns out proton has this feature but it's only for specific types of emails.
>>107202704Do you think music players magically generate fitting art for each album instead of downloading it from the internet, that having 20 thumbnails with the Google logo representing your contacts will somehow make your job easier, or that your hypothetical email client can somehow find the photos of the people you are corresponding with to use as avatars?
>>107202724There are really only two types of emails I want to keep:>email from a company/website related to an account I made using this email>email from a person that I personally knowThe first case can be done automatically the same way music players will automatically download album art for you. The second one can and should be done manually.
>>107202731>>107202724To go further, I already do this exact thing with bookmarks. I have a mapping of URL grep patterns and png files. So any time I save a bookmark, it checks the URL and grabs the appropriate thumbnail. I have to manually add new thumbnails but I am simply that autistic. I made my own thumbnailer and file format so that I can store all my bookmarks as .bookmark files.I'm too lazy to do this for emails so I'm hoping someone else already did it. Worst case scenario, I might actually have to do it myself.
>>107202445what did you use? claude?
>>107202247jsut make it urself bro :)
>>107202721I made a .pm address and now i have to pay to use it. Gay
