i assume that isn't going to happen now. that'll still be available. what they do to the operating system is anyone's guess. i can't see how they'd be able to block transfers from adb, unless we end up with this "tethered" shit that itoddlers have been using for best part of a decade.

Just putting the setting in developer options doesn't fulfill that because you could convince someone to enable those without too much difficulty.
They probably want messages like "if someone is telling you to enable this setting, they are likely trying to scam you".
