Just bought some new ram, and it has a sticker on some of the chips, and it says "removal will void warranty". What the fuck. Ram can get hot, right? So I should remove the sticker? But then if the memory fucks my computer up, I can't do anything about it?
>>
i replaced one of the 2gb ram modules on my laptop to a 4gb one but it doesn't really use over 4gb even when many tabs open on firefox does it have addressing problems or something

All through end-user software there are files of bespoke data structures with little or no publicly available developer tools. Recently it isn't just proprietary file formats but file archives are becoming obtuse, as is particularly obvious for modding games. The result is that someone makes a separate utility for unpacking and editing in each individual context and often times it's some asshole doing it in java or python forcing others who would want to use that tool to track down a compatible environment.

So why the fuck have I never seen a grand unified file-unbullshitter? One single well-supported tool that extensibly accepts a prepared table of addresses, header structures, etc, to be able to deal with pretty much anything.

>Have 3060 12gb
>have 4k monitor, can play most of my basic games and get by with some DLSS/modified settings in other games like RDR2 but really don't play a ton of super graphically intense games
>See AMD 9060xt release can buy one for 449 CAD (320USD)

Is it worth the upgrade or keep scraping by with the 3060 for now if someone is going to come out with something better for a similar price.

You mean the sticks of ram? The hardware info should be available in your OS
>>
>your IP has been blocked temporarily due to abuse
Why do I get this every few days and it goes away occasionally ? I’m not shit posting
>>
Is there a MacOS general?
>>
>>107399760
Your IP is changing. Sometimes you get stuck with an IP that was used by a VPN abuser. 4chan has that IP flagged for abuse. And then at some point your IP changes again to a good one.

If you leave your browser open while your IP changes, then 4chan will track the IP change. If you're on a bad IP, and then change to to a good IP, 4chan will think you're ban evading. But if you close the browser, and then your IP changes, 4chan won't track the bad IP, it will only look at the new good IP.

How do I know all of this? Years of connecting via am xfinity wifi hotspot. The hotspot changes IP automatically every 4 hours. It's put of my control. So I've observed the behavior long enough now to feel fairly confident that's what's happening.

Word of advice: when you're on a bad IP, don't try to get around it. Just take a break from posting.

I am trying to install DaVinci resolve on linux (mint), but whenever I try to run it it keeps saying:
"Missing or outdated system packages detected.

Please install the following missing packages:
libapr1 libaprutil1 libasound2 libglib2.0-0"

Even though when I try to install them, my system tells me that I already have them installed.
Does anyone know how I can fix it?

What is .NET framework, and why do I need it to compile C# applications?

What kind of data are you talking about? Is it just bespoke archival formats for normal, recognisable files? I feel like usually games that have custom formats use them for custom data, and you can't really have a general purpose piece of software that could decode any game's data archive.

How long can you microwave a baby for? Say you just put a newborn in a 1200 W microwave and just let it go for one second. Would the baby warm up? Will it have developmental issues down the line? What's the limit? I have no interest in microwaving a living thing, but I was thinking about the microwave hallway in Metal Gear Solid 4.
>>
>>107400580
its like microwaving a ham. a slice will go pop real quick but a whole bone in will take at least 12+ mins

When does computer hardware go from "poor, shitty and outdated" to "cool, retro and valuable"?
>>
How many hours a day do you spend at the computer?
I'm on the computer from the moment I wake up to one hour before I go to sleep, when I read a book. Otherwise I only get up to use the bathroom, shower, make food, clean clothes, clean dishes, etc.
>>
>>107400899

There are lots of examples of archival formats holding standard filetypes. It's common for mods to be distributed as loose files which the developers deigned to load last and allow to override the archived base files. Often even bespoke filetypes are just differently structured "standard" data, hence the ridiculous plethora of plugins for 3d modelling software to import models. And sometimes it's just custom headers on normal data or endianness or whatever.

Fundamentally, what is done to convert the data to be usable, archival or data structure, is a scripted transformation and such scripting can be written in a standardized way to run in a standardized way instead of piling a second or third fucking layer of bespoke bullshit over the bespoke bullshit. And this matters for the aforementioned difficulty in getting the scattered "made as needed with little regard for quality" things to work at all.

can i download specific parts of a video with yt-dlp?
>>
>>107401294
mint website says 22.2 is current? IDK. I found some reddit discussion and it seems like issues are not uncommon. Companies should just release static binaries for commercial products. Try searching around for linux mint davinci resolve and see if any of the discussion helps.

Usually when it's a specific famous brand or model. There's tons of shitboxes from the 80s and 90s that have precisely zero value because nobody cares about some random toshiba brick or whatever.
Also the further back you go, the more rare computers as a whole become, so if today you're looking back at machines from the 60s or even 70s then probably the majority of surviving ones might start being at least somewhat valuable. But that doesn't mean that in 50-60 years any modern laptop will be valuable - nowadays there's such an overwhelming amount of them that they are, and will remain, completely worthless e-waste after EoL. Just like the nameless shitboxes from the 90s will continue being nameless shitboxes nobody cares about even in a few more decades.

The exceptions, like I said, are specific famous brands or models. Old Macintoshes for example have enthusiast communities bringing their value way above nameless shitboxes from similar eras. For a much more modern example, used thinkpads became a meme, and so even laptops from the 00's started getting collected, and plenty of models from the early 2010s got super inflated in price - so far mostly from retards trying to use them, not because they're retro yet, but I can imagine in another decade or so, if the meme keeps up, even a T420 could become a retro collector's piece.

So Im years late but I just discovered m3u files that can load up thousands of TV stations. This shit is great and can't believe I've been missing out on it. I haven't paid for any TV service in like 10 years.

Are there any cool tools or uses I can do with m3u? All I've been doing is just loading them in VLC and flipping between channels.

I want to play Ninja Gaiden 4. I'm using Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC. The game bitches at me that it doesn't have this Windows Media Foundation.
Looking up the issue online, I can see that the name for the thing I'm supposed to install is Media Feature Pack and I have to look for it in the Optional Features menu. However, when I click the Add a feature button, it doesn't give me the option to install either Windows Media Foundation or Media Feature Pack. There's nothing "media" related to install at all.
What am I doing wrong here?

have they changed something with the media hashes
I've been downloading images and videos posted on 4chan, reposted them, but then when I look up the image md5 they don't lead to other posts, just mine

How does one patch Soundcloud with Revanced Manager? The suggested version is an apk bundle and Revanced doesn't support bundles. Attempting the last .apk release of Soundcloud from last year does nothing, it won't patch.

try to get a construction (builder) job, in a twist of irony those seem to be the safest against ai replacement. going outside and working with others in the sun is probably also good for you tendency to get depressed.
it would give confidence as well, imagine driving past buildings/bridges etc that you know you were part of putting there and that will probably still be there after you are gone.

What's the best 2FA to use? What if a user loses their phone?

That depends on how recent those sectors are, and if they are reallocated (if using btrfs/zfs/full formats/similar)

a token for time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) is good since there's no communication sent, meaning it's reliable and instant.
plus it's an open standard so you can use any number of apps (there are programs for it on PC as well, though after doing a quick search it's harder to find compared to authenticator apps on phones).

as far as i know as long as you keep a backup of the original secret token you can just restore it on any device if you lose your phone. taking a photo of a QR during setup might mean you lose your chance to save the secret tho

An old hard drive started having problems, its retired block count increased to 209, I think it's stable, and from what I've read, it's not a problematic amount. The problem is that Windows is installed on it, and I've already got a blue screen once. Is there any way to repair it, or do I have to buy a new hard drive?
