To me, there are exactly 2 sides of the AI debate: those who want the sciences (formal, natural, social) and humanities/arts to survive and continue growing and thriving; and those who want said sciences and humanities/arts to either A) perish or B) become hollowed out, incredibly simplified and completely unrecognizable. This divide is essentially between not wanting the catastrophic intellectual and creative neutering of civilization to happen, and wanting it to happen. And it turns out, unsurprisingly, that people on the anti-neutering side are much more proficient in the sciences/humanities than those on the pro-neutering side, even though the pro-neutering side tries very, very often to say that the exact opposite is true.I think Angela Collier put it perfectly - "They spent a very long time degrading and attacking the people who were very good at skill/s X Y Z, and now there's a little chatbot that can do X Y Z, they suddenly want to do X Y Z and make it a career."
