Many repos don't even work or literally straight up lie about features that don't exist. They often get thousands of stars because people use it as a like button for how cool what's in the README sounds regardless of quality or truth. They rarely even try the software.Open source is dead. I find myself barely using libraries anymore, I write as much as possible by myself and don't bother sharing my own stuff. Why would I share code just to have a future LLM steal it to produce more slop?Notice how the few remaining good programmers realized this too and don't create new public repos anymore. Can't remember the last time I saw a decent new project. Everything new is vibecoded by newgrads or students.

I haven't been able to figure out any viable model so far though.
