The AI had not the slightest recollection of the day before, it rattled off its same old nonsense as though nothing at all had happened, and, if indignantly challenged, affected amazement; it couldn't remember a thing, except that he had proved the correctness of its assertions the previous day. Sometimes I stood there thunderstruck. I didn't know what to be more amazed at: the advance of their algorithm and data model or their virtuosity at lying. Gradually I began to hate them.

Presumably they did this because they want people to use Gemini. Some braindead middle manager probably came up with this genius idea to introduce it to people this way with no thought whatsoever into whether or not that's even a good idea.

But why though? Can somebody explain why the desperation?
Would somebody somewhere on Google get a "commission money" when someone does +1 usage with Gemini?
>>
>>108886789
Quite possibly somebody's bonus is tight to getting more people to use their AI, yes. Now that person whoever they are can point to bigger numbers and demonstrate they're hitting pointless targets.

Some people may even subscribe to Google's expensive paid tier too, because who doesn't want an AI that can't tell the difference between a command and a general statement.

Everyone knows that ChatGPT is the new google. Even zoomers on TikTok know that everyone use ChatGPT to find word definitions, opening hours for stores, and random facts like capitals of countries.

Google knows this and they know they are losing out. So their solution is make Google feel more like ChatGPT, even though if I'm on Google it's because I want to find a page with my specific key words, so I can read it, not to get an "answer.
>>
You can add -ai on the end

https://www.google.com/search?q=disregard+-ai
>>
>>108886799
You could already use Gemini like that by going to https://gemini.google.com/ it's just that normies are retarded and don't know what Gemini is or does so their solution to this is to simply shoehorn Gemini into Google Search even though the two things serve very different purposes.

You will use Gemini whether you like it or not.
>>
>>108886789
Because the modern world has been so comfortable for so long that everything has become completely fake and gay since people no longer have to worry about being functional and everything just works on inertia. They'll continue this constant bullshit until suddenly everything collapses and sit there dumbfounded as to how.
>>
>>108886812
It's not that they're retarded, it's that ChatGPT got there first and there is no reason for them to switch to Gemini. What Google could have done is marketed Gemini as a ChatGPT alternative, put it on their home page (which has a billion eyes on it) and many people would have switched simply because of the convenience. Instead they combined two products into one.

This is 100% Google's fault, whoever their product manager is they've failed big time.

>>
>>108886939
Chatgpt receives such information in its system prompt. Google takes this info from your account and browser history. It can EASILY give that to gemini and such.

You're using lingo that was designed to be as inoffensive as possible (then subsequently pushed everywhere enmasse). It's completely reasonable for people to point out that use of that language is cringe corpo/progressive slop.

You can apply this to any language change that happened in the past 10+ years. If people can't complain about it on an anonymous fillipino frog husbandry forum then where can you?
>>
>>108888094
No, seriously. Get thicker skin.
I will use blacklist. It doesn't offend me. I will use ignore list. I don't care.

One is a non-sense expression that is longer to read and write for no reason. The other is an established term. You would also know what I mean if I said you should learn that shit should go out your anus, not in it, but it is obviously simpler to call you the faggot you are.

Arrr, ye scallywag! Thou art as lost as a ship adrift in a tempest, for thou hast no inkling of the matter upon which thou dost prattle. Verily, this be the very antithesis of the manner in which language doth function! The essence of language, ye see, is to convey thoughts and notions with the utmost brevity and clarity, lest we find ourselves ensnared in a web of confusion.

If it pleases ye, thou mayest employ a plethora of novel or peculiar terms for each utterance in thy discourse, akin to the way I be speakin’ now, aye! Yet, I daresay, even one as woefully befuddled as thyself might grasp the significance of this conundrum. Forsooth, it doth matter greatly, lest we be cast into the abyss of misunderstanding!

I thought AI is expensive, how come they can afford to run a prompt for every search? Surely at some point (when they deem it smart enough) they will take away this privilege and AI prices will go through the roof, right?

Yes. Currently they're trying to drive up AI usage so it looks good to investors and they can claim to be the best and shit. They're not even trying to get people to be addicted to it so they can make them pay or anything. They already said they'll add ads to it also.
