I guess this goes here.

Tl;dr up front: bricked my android tablet after rooting it and installing lineage OS. Want to know what I did wrong.

I say after, because initially I was successful. I got lineage booted up and then it crashed. It is a Samsung Galaxy tab a6 that was using android 5.1.xxx. Locked out of updates for everything and most of the apps quit working because of that.
I used the Odin flashing software on my laptop, TWRP rooting app on the tablet, and installed Lineage 14.1.xxx and MindtheGapps 7.1.xxx. I had to use old unofficial versions of everything because the tablet was so old that not even the third party developers were supporting it anymore. It equated to Android 7.1.xxx but it would be good enough to unlock it so I could use it again. Only current version of anything I used was the Odin flashing tool on my laptop.
I first did a factory reset of the tablet on the OEM Samsung OS, so that there would be no trace of the Google accounts that I set it up with (or so I believe). I turned on developer options in the tablet, I turned on OEM unlock and USB debugging inside of developer options. Then I did the whole Odin/TWRP/lineage/MindtheGapps process (link to video tutorial that I used at the end). I booted into lineage, logged into the play store with one of my Google accounts, downloaded Spotify, logged into Spotify with my account info, and started playing a song. Then it froze, rebooted, and gave me the FRP locked error message and just continually rebooted.
In my understanding, what causes the FRP locked error is if you don't have OEM unlocked turned on and you don't wipe the tablet prior to rooting. I did have OEM unlocked turned on and not only did I factory reset it, I also wiped it with TWRP before I installed Lineage and MindtheGapps.

In my understanding, you can still reflash the factory OS using Odin on the computer, and then go through the rooting process again. I found an Australian version of the factory OS (American here), but I haven't gotten to reflashing yet.
Not really upset, it's an old tablet that was locked out of updates anyway, just want to know what I did wrong because I have other devices I want to root that I actually do care about. Thanks in advance.

Oh, also worth noting. The version of lineage I found that loaded, was obviously for a mobile phone because it gave me an sd card error message but still loaded. Also worth noting: when I installed Lineage with TWRP, I tried several different version, 18.1 and several 14.1 version. They all gave me some kind of error or failure message within the TWRP app. I rebooted it to try again but lineage loaded up anyway so I rolled with it.

Is this a case of unsupported/unofficial versions (because correct versions are unavailable) bricked my device, or did I actually fuck up somewhere in the process?

Yes and no. My question is a little more specific: was it a software compatibility issue or an issue in the steps I took? I figured it could be software compatibility because unsupported rom, but in my understanding, you can only get that error message if you didn't do the OEM unlock prior to rooting and flashing. Or is that not true?

Fwiw, I downloaded the lineage and MindtheGapps bundle from a forum post that outlined it as working for the sm-t280 tablet that I have, though not officially, just what someone had done on their own sm-t280.
Tablet might just be too old.

Also, can you reflash the factory rom using Odin and then try again? I found a couple videos outlining it but I haven't gotten there yet.

Which iPhone line do you recommend to me? Switched from a Redmi Note 9 Pro with a reader on the power button to a Poco X8 Pro with front reader. The Redmi I could unlock blindly while grabbing it out of the pocket, with the Poco I need both hands and have to hit a small circle. With the alternative being face unlock that's probably beaten by a printed photo.
