I'm 25 years old, should I pursue a computer science degree in 2026 and then end up graduating around 2028-2029? Will I find a SWE job after graduation? I'm getting old so I can't afford to waste time.
>>109013055No
>>109013055Oops I meant 2029-2030
>>109013057Then what should I do?
>>109013064leech from your parents and the government.
>>109013055Nobody hires 30 year old juniors. You're competing with 21 year olds who'll accept minimum wage
Steal shit and do this >>109013066
>>109013069Give it back Tyrone
>>109013066forgot to add, they most likely own a house so when they fucking die you'll just inherit it, sell it for like 2 million dollars to some real estate agency, proceed to invest most of it in the stock market and live off dividends in some tropical 3rd world country.
>>109013068So what do I do? Give up and die?
>>109013064Become a ventriloquism youtuber. Teach people how to make and use puppets.
>>109013081No, check what occupations are desperate for qualified people and pursue that degree.
>>109013086clown behavior>>109013081steal shit, leach from the government, look into SBA loans
>>109013086So electrical engineering would be a good alternative then?
>>109013168What part of commit theft do you not understand?
>>109013068>Nobody hires 30 year old juniors.bullshit>>109013055don't listen to all this faggots nay-sayers here, I started studying CS at the age of 38, if you really like it and are programming all the time and the most important getting internships, you can be successful, it worked out for me, age didn't matter.in fact, companies want older people because they are not zoomer retards
>>109013083Maybe watch being John malkovich first before making these kinds of decisions.
>>109013172I will not partake in nigger kike activity>>109013173The issue is that even experienced SWEs with years of experience are struggling in this job market too, you might've gotten lucky but I wonder how bad is "bad" in this job market. I want to do CS but I may not have a choice but do something like EE (even though I'm not really interested in EE work, but can use EE to get into SWE roles) but I don't know what to do in this timeline when everything seems to go down the shitter.
>>109013055if that's not something you'd do for free because you actually enjoy it, don't do it. Do what you really enjoy and don't waste time on anything else. One thing to keep in mind is, however, that even things that are enjoyable require effort and spending time being bored and feeling like you're getting nowhere, so in that sense there is no free lunch. But also, in this economy, hard to give any advice, I feel like everyone is super cynical and burned out and trust pevel in society (across countries too) is at a minimum. So maybe what I said about do what you love doesn't really apply to modern times.
>>109013055id do ai carts
>>109013064stockpile food, duct tape, ammo and hazmat gear 2027-2032 is unironically the Joint Chiefs of Staff date for a ''peer to peer conflict'' aka war with china, they scrubbed it from the website but it was up in around the biden era. Don't be afraid of the war itself but the shitstorm it'll cause on the civilian side once the supply chain fucks up and welfare niggers get rowdy, govt will prob crack down on them but unwillingly so prep so that you can sit back, relax and use local AI alongside your movies and food
>>109013254Meds now
>>109013055No, it's a waste of time, even ChatGPT is far more capable in the field than you could ever be.
>>109013262yes those are also important, what programming language would be most valuable after the fed collapse?
>>109013055>oldthen youre already to late, even for vibeslop they wouldn't want you anymore
>>109013077ntawhy not just inherit the house and keep living in it and leeching of the government (genuine question)
>>109013506property taxes
>>109013077>implying they won't reverse mortgage it 2 years before they die so the bank gets it for next to nothing, completely sidestepping the kids
>>109013357>then youre already to lateIn my mid 30s, I find myself getting job offers from other guys just because we are around the same age. I guess a form of nepotism. They just want coworkers they can relate to instead of a bunch of boomers and zoomers. I'm not much more qualified than I was 10 years ago
>>109013064join a monastery
>>109013064give up and do nothing meaningful because you are 25 and your life is pretty much complete and its too late to start anything
>>109014681or the military but you might be too old for that too
>>109013064>>109013055Does not matter what it is going to be exactly, but make sure you make the most of it while you have neuro plasticity.
>>109013055>should I pursue a computer science degree in 2026 and then end up graduating around 2028-2029you should do what you like, don't let people demoralize you, having a degree is better than having no degree so that's something I guess>Will I find a SWE job after graduation?nobody knows for sure, some things are under your control and some things aren't>I'm getting oldfunny, just know that there are people double your age going through far bigger changes in life so you are essentially worrying about nothing
>>109013055no, too old, too many people holding degrees who's gonna clean the toilets, etc>>109013204>but can use EE to get into SWE roleskek i've been wanting to test this. i'm EE with no formal experience, but have a strong portfolio. i think the worst that can happen is they will give me shit pay. the problem with getting a second computer related degree is that it's almost too redundant. maybe robotics would value someone with both? couldn't find anything about EE degrees not being valued in SWE roles.
>>109013055Honestly I don't even know what kind of advice to give to a young give like yourself. The idea that studying hard led to a good job is now dead. Why would one invest years studying if then you won't get a high paying/easy job? Everything is fucked...
>>109013055do you love computer science and programming? surefor the money? nothe meme chatbot is irrelevantif you're unsure about programming and computer science do the first two courses in OSSU CS GitHub repo, google it.
>>109013055No. Do an engineering degree or something AI resistant like trade school
>>109013064Do something that you're good at so you can excel in it. The problem with industries like tech is that every midwit that wants a high paying salary joined it and it's full of retards that have no idea what they're doing. Do something you actually like and are good at.
>>109013055in the same boat except I'm 26 and had a large portion of a cs degree already completed on a full-ride scholarship before my christcuck parents screwed my life over by moving to rural georgia. here's hoping ai-assisted biomedical research figures out aging and neuroplasticity soon even if all the corporate jobs are automated away so i can do math and programming for fun and personal enrichment and not have to exist as a creepy, stubborn middle-aged freak for the part of my life where i'm able to live freely.
>>109013064Go into some part of the medical field that doesn't take a graduate degree, if you want a job within your lifetime.Alternatively, get your airframe and power plant license to become an aircraft mechanic. There are lots of 2ish year programs for that. And the pay is extremely good. Some of my friends make $45 per hour with a few years of experience.
>>109013506property taxes, trash disposal costs, water, electricity, gas
>>109013055pursue something that is monetizable but also aligns with your interests at least somewhat.don't disregard either of those things or you'll hate your life.don't worry too much about competition. if you like what you're doing you can easily outperform the masses who are only in it for the money.
