How long before AMD hits Intel where it will really hurt?

Look, I can complain about CPUs meant for server sockets too.

It will truly be over for Intel when Apple refreshes MacBook Pros with Zen-based APUs.

I want to see Lisa Su decapitate Brian with a Threadripper on live TV

>>61878381
Nah, only gays buy those. Big OEMs like HP, Dell, Sony, Acer, ect using raven ridge APUs will fucking ruin intel with their shitty mini housefires.

Its already begun. Pic related has a 1700 in it.
>>
>>61878502
Holy shit, how is that not bulky as fuck? How are thermals on it? Cooling that many cores on a laptop must be hell.
>>
>>61878597
The 1700 is insanely easy to cool, especially if it's underclocked and undervolted
>>
>>61878597
Gotta remember laptop processors are cut down to all fucking hell.

Desktop 1700. TDP is only 65W
>>
>>61878597
The only thing that could affect the bulkiness is the soldered IHS.
>>
>>61879692
right thanks but that is desktop part just cut down for laptop i'm talking about a real laptop part.
>>
>>61878395
You don't get it anon. If Apple partners with AMD on the next MacBook, it will make the MacBooks more hip than ever because Intel is "mainstream". "Like OMG! why would you use an Intel based laptop? These are soooo hot and have shit battery lives". In addition the MacBooks will finally stop throttling, Apple has a golden chance to genuinely improve their shit. Let's see if they are smart enough to partner with AMD.

Raven Ridge
The Shoah will begin soon
>>

Laptop Ryzen is not out yet.
The 1700 in the laptop is not cut down. It is just ran verbatim, since the TDP is not high.
>>
>>61879806
Well I mean Asus put a full 1700 into a laptop and only removed the ability to overclock.

Kek good luck faggots.
>>
>>61878299
I'm waiting for the new Raven Ridge A475 thinkpad to replace my T430. I was gonna buy a T470 or X1, but fuck intel. Should be coming out end of this year or beginning of next.
>>
>>61878597
Ryzen is built on a process that is very energy efficient and cool at lower frequencies. The fact that you can run a 8c/16t CPU with a passive CPU cooler is incredible.
>>
>>61878381
Doesn't apple use Thunderbolt in their notebooks? It's an intel-only thing so I don't think they'd want to lose it in favor of some APU.

U run my 7820x on a passive cooler.

Intel said Thunderboltâ„¢ will be coming to 3rd parties now, so AMD can use it in 2018 probably.

And also other people can make the TB chipset, which means lower prices.
>>
>>61880456
>65watt CPU

Who gives a shit about laptop grade CPUs you faggot?
>>
>>61878299
They already did. Neither ryzen nor threadripper are particularly great chips but their price/performance ratio is just insane. Going for Intel makes barely any sense now unless all you gonna do is gaymen.

Intel will now release 6/6 core i5's and 6/12 core i7's into the mainstream. Give it another year when Zen 2 launches and I guarantee you we'll have 6/12 core i5's and 8/16 entry core i7's. Competition is always good.
>>
>>61880497
>low TDP must mean it's an underpowered CPU
while that may be the case with recent intel stuff, 1700 is a normal desktop processor.
>>

I have seen it. It is kinda lemon of a laptop.

bigger power supply than the intel counterpart i7 hq or hk, a little heavier too. then it is paired with a fucking 4 gb rx 580, should have been a fucking 8gb.

and then, it has audacity to be priced more than an i7 hq and a 8gb 1070.
