Looked at job listings for the local college. Every single professional position requires you to submit along with your resume, a one page written plan about how you would enhance diversity and inclusion on campus. This plan must be approved by the Chief Diversity Officer before you are hired.

Oh I don't have any favorites, I wouldn't want to let someone feel left out. Truth is I admire them all, and I'd hate to prioritize people over eachother.

I don't mean to say I don't prioritize at all, certain things I do like to prefer over others. I am a man of logic, so I prefer faster and more energy efficient Intel processors of AMD's, heh, "offerings".

what are IT interviews really like? especially when you don't have a github and don't know how to program.
>>
>>64711227
Depends on the level. Usually they will ask you about previous experience, what you managed, some of the projects you've worked on, etc.

Depending on who's doing the interview, they may just ask you personal questions to see if you'll "fit in with the team" because HR has already made up their mind your meaningless certifications and degree already check all the boxes they need checked to get you hired.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

they ask you about your previous experience, and they ask you about the programming languages that you listed in your CV and how good you are with each one of them. In a worse case scenario they might ask you about which packages you used or you are familiar with (in case you are applying for a data science position). Or they might ask you how you would act in a certain condition with a certain set of data or a certain client. It is not really difficult.

For my first job (rewriting a 15 year clusterfuck of 'added functionality' for a company's internal systems and then setting everything up for the 90+ users so it'd work) out of uni I just went to a meet&greet with the owner and his partner and every one of the 3 moves since then was via recommendation or direct offer.

Basically my experience was that, once you're in and not a total sperg, you'll always have work.
>>
>>64712638
You will never be payed your market price if you don't negotiate, any potential employer is going to try to pay you the least they can, they likely will pay you market price if forced to but they won't if they don't have to. You should ALWAYS ask for more, even if it's just a little. If you don't you're leaving money on the table for no reason other than laziness or over-agreeableness.
Remember depending on the company it's often easier to get more money coming in, than it is to get a reasonable amount more later, most companies have polices about raises that they will use to kneecap you when you try and negotiate later.
>we're really happy with all your hard work anon but the HR policy allows for no more than 4% a year without board approval, and the numbers just haven't been great this year, I'm not sure I'll be able to justify it.

This is a large part of the reason that women make less money than men. They rarely ask, and when they do they aren't forceful, or are downright apologetic.
Listen to me anon, and femanon's alike.
Don't be apologetic about asking for a raise. Your work has value, it's why they hired you. Act like it. and make sure they pay you like it.

Nope, you get paper, you get pen, you get bunch of specs and write it on the paper. This was the case in all 3 rounds of the interview proccess. Filters out the shitters who write something on their resume after reading some SV tard blog about it.

>>we're really happy with all your hard work anon but the HR policy allows for no more than 4% a year without board approval, and the numbers just haven't been great this year, I'm not sure I'll be able to justify it.
I'm glad you're happy with my hard work boss, but the numbers in my paycheck just haven't been great this year, and I'm not sure I'll be able to justify continued hard work with your firm.

>Recruitment day for AMEX software engineering
>Everyone is either a pajeet or an autist
>Put in groups of people you've never met
>Told to recreate the entire AMEX system in 3 hours on a £100 laptop they give to you which they purposefully corrupted files on in order to challenge you
>Half way through you have an interview with two women who ask you questions with not a single one at all related to the job
>What was your teacher's name when you were 6 years old? What would they say is your biggest weakness? Why are you such a piece of shit?
Fucking hell please tell me they aren't all like this

Wanted to post this. But this basically is what women do in programming. Adding const, changing naming conventions for no reason, adding indents, and other inconsequential nonsense.

And this "1st yr compsci shit" is sufficient to filter out the plebs, quite sad. Don't be envious of others education, most people would learn this anyway, were they passionate about IT. You can still make money (arguably more) even if you're a retard that can only duct-tape frameworks together and has no idea how computers work or what computation is.
>>
>>64708547
Unless you're trying to get a job as an OS developer, then this is just absolutely pointless to learn.

And fucking leave I’d they won’t pay you. I worked for a great company for 10 years but they wouldn’t pay, and I wouldn’t leave because I’m a pussy. When I finally left I went from $62k to $100k, now two years later I’m at $140k.

you forgot to mention the paper and the pen like in every other post, wierd fetish btw. Getting an actual job could make you feel better.

Actual job as in... code-artisan in a startup revolutionizing the world with the most bleeding-edge technology like node, tensorflow and some random flavour of the month framework that this guy mentioned on the monthly meetup of tech entrepreneur gurus along with a handful of buzzwords?
No thanks, i'll stay in my average-paying job working on the boring infrastructure that's holding this civilization together- someone has to do it, and some people even find it interesting (unlike duct-taping frameworks upon frameworks together into the next big app such as snapchat for dogs).
