Well done reddit;

Website is now bloated beyond recognition; unusable garbage on average PC's.

If it aint broke dont fix it. they will NEVER learn
>>
Down the path of Digg they go.

go there and don't come back
>>

I'm usually all for redesigns and I can understand why Reddit did the design. It looks much more like a "modern" social media site now. I prefer the old style as I believe it's more functional.
>>
>>65958634
It's like they don't even remember that they got to where they are by riding the backlash from Digg's awful redesign

Reddit is waaaaay bigger than Digg ever was. It's not 2008 any more, Reddit won't suddenly die overnight like Digg did, Facebook won't go the way of Myspace, Google won't go the way of AskJeeves, etc.

Reddit popularity is not even comparable to Facebook and Google.
Its main target and userbase is murrican, the rest of the world doesn't use it much (most country specific subs are literally paid government shills doing campaigns).
Facebook and Google are huge worldwide, the downfall of either might cause a srs shitstorm

Reddit is literally only useful for advertising. And I don't mean paying them to place ads - fuck that and fuck giving them money.

It's useful for shilling. Nothing more. The userbase is nothing but retarded consumers, and very finicky ones at that. Honestly I'll be glad when reddit dies, even though I do get a lot of traffic from it.

Don't group me with those low-effort morons. I review PC hardware and run benchmarks, reddit just happens to be a good way to get traffic, *if* the mongoloids there decide to upvote your posts.

The karma and voting system is absolute trash and I just don't have the money to buy votes and comments (yet). I hate reddit with a passion, but the traffic is usually easy and I'm okay taking advantage of that.

Myspace died because people grew up. Very few ex-myspace users are as active on Facebook as the new generation and boomers. It doesn't take much for everything to change... Remember Megaupload? They had absolutely no competition. Everyone used it. Then one day, poof. Gone. All of it. Lack of competition and immense popularity didn't save it. All the giants you named could face the same fate tomorrow for one reason or another. You never know.

Fucking progressive web app shit.
This shit is so much SLOWER than just sending the full content in HTML ever was.
This "app shell" bullshit doesn't work as advertised. When I click on a link, the browser loads the website for half a second and then, when it's loaded changes the page, it feels fast and fluent to me.
If I click a link, the page immediately transitions to a mock up of how the page is going to look like and only then, one second later when the API has returned the result and the slow-ass, bloated JS frontend library of choice has managed to render the content (by producing an entire second fucking DOM tree, diffing it with the current tree and only THEN actually touching the original DOM) does the page finally show the content I want.
I mean, is the normie so fucking stupid that he actually gets fooled by those app shell pages? This feels SO much slower to me, I hate EVERY site that does this. And then you have faggots at tech presentations everywhere talking about this shit as if it's the future and so much better than it ever was.
Nigga, u gay. This shit ruins the web.
This is all about it being confortable for developers to develop, not to give the user a better experience. The ones who pay are we, with our (wait) time.
>>
If they had changed it into the current design slowly and imperceptibly over time, none of you autistic fucks would make as much as a inaudible whine.
>>
>>65964128
The second "If I click a link" was meant to say something like "If I click a link in a "progressive web app"", as opposed to just using the browser's native navigation.

They changed the algorithm to maximise people's time spent on the site per session rather than long term. So it's just full of clickbait/hot right now content. No more small creators get suggestions and so much terrible "hurr durr here's a celebrity advertising something on Conan"

The music algorithm is even worse, it shills songs hard "lone digger - caravan palace" is a mediocre song that I've skipped many many times and youtube is always like "hmmm I know what you'll like... Lone digger?"

It's a stop-gap measure, but there's a "Not Interested" option in the drop down menu to the side of every video. It'll fix A, C, and D. That being said, if you use it too much, it'll turn your reccomended feed into an echo-chamber of all of the channels you've subscribed to.

I hate it. It's too big and wastes space. Features are hidden. Meh, I'll stick to the old one.

I never go to reddit and I don't give a shit about it, but damn, the redesign is total cancer. It looks like fucking facebook.

>not filling thousands of feedback forms saying you love the redesign and that they should drop the old site as soon as possible
I'm doing my part to kill reddit and so should you.
>>
>>65973967
Why would you want them to flood here faster than they already do? Unless...
>>
>>65973372
Ah, so that's what happened to my main account. I expected it to fill the gaps with fresh new recommendations, but it got rid of the shit I'm not interested in and only recommends the things it's certain I like (because I watched and liked it).

Megaupload died because it costs way too much to host random files and it had no reliable source of income. Isn't mega.nz its successor though?

The same happens with image hosting. The demand is huge and new sites pop up every day, but unless they figure out how to get users to actually go on the site and stay there to watch ads (imgur transformed into 9gag), they die just as quickly.
>>
>>65974134
Some boards do filter reddit. Or they used to. I remember I would get "our servers think you comment is spam" whenever I mentioned reddit.
>>
>click comments
>window overlay with thread appears
>click outside that box to go back

I hate pretty much everything about this update but this feature alone is enough to make me just go with it

megaupload died because they got vanned otherwise it would have been still up today
>>
>>65974186
It was site-wide for a while, iirc /b/ and /v/ still filter it but haven't been there in ages to check.
>>
>>65962842
Who said anything about improving? A proper redesign is done for its own sake, not for such unimportant things as user experience or usability.
I'd recommend giving everything rounded corners, maybe a bit more depth. Increase font size. Switch some colors around. Group all important functions into unintuitive dropdowns, make new unimportant functions to put in prominent places. Remove the reply button. Remove the file selector from the quick reply box. All pictures, gifs and webms expanded by default and autoplay when in view. Avatars and trips mandatory, but names are removed. Sage still doesn't count as a bump, but bumps after a sage count double. Captcha replaced with Amazon Turk.
>>
Fucking goddamnit all of you fuck off back there this is muh SECRET CLUB REEEEEE.
But seriously, a decade ago anyone even suspected of browsing rebbit would get flamed or ignored/saged to hell, especially threads like this. Why is it tolerated now? I don't understand. It's pure cancer. Or am I really just a dinosaur who can't get with the times? You're all faggots by the way.

Moot did it a long time ago, no need to add more bloat to the site. If you want a better "experience" use extensions or Clover

I don't get why they use so much whitespace. Not everyone has a 10k monitor.

That isn't a problem in itself, the problem is that most subreddits either die completely or blow up and end up with literally 10M+ users. That's just too big for a "community"

FUCK OFF FUCK OFF YOU STUPID NIGGERS NOBODY LIKES YOU HERE

This place has gotten way too slack socially. Hence why we have people claiming it isn't an anime website, general ignorance of board culture, a forgottence of the old internet rule of "if you enjoy rival sites, dont"
>>
>>65976234
It happens with every culture that gets flooded
Oldfags arent originalfags, newfags arent oldfags, and that was in 2009
I wouldnt want to consider what passes as oldfag now
>>
Do you think threads like these exist because "oldfage" just silently ignore them or do we really have a 60% reddit ratio now?

The problem is not that some people browse both sites, as long as they assimilite accordingly in the culture of both sites. Not everybody who visit reddit iare >>65970582
>virtue signaling, pop culture fellating, feelings policing, censorship advocating faggots.
I personally use it for some niche communities where the quality and amount of information you get simply can't be trumped by other forums.
It will be a problem if we don't bully reddit, the hyperfaggots from the main subs are gonna feel welcome here too and once we open these floodgates, 4chan is lost.

Been here over a decade and if you honestly believe somehow that all of that is "hurr muh /pol/ newfags" meanwhile little cuck ass "anti racist" redditors have been invading since 2008 or 09 youre retarded.

Not to mention how "right" opinions are less common generally on the internet anyway so it makes your stupid statement and boogyman make even less sense. You all have likely never been on this site before the days of /pol/ as evidenced by how little of 4chans history that graph shows and yet you try and act superior to these "/pol/ fags". It's pathetic.
>>
The fact that all the newfags here are legitimately discussing Reddit shit here and actually crying more about the newfag boogyman of /pol/ than the fact we have an actual fucking Reddit thread here shows how dead this shithole site is.
>>
>>65977485
Another thing these faggots don't realize because they are braindead is that if a poster browses on phone and computer (much more common considering the availability and commonplace nature of smartphones especially recently) and uses a phone network they will appear as two separate users.

Which is what I do. Browsed with PC only for the longest time but especially after the mods became worse and worse it became a necessity to browse on a phone for how easy it was to change your IP.
>>
fuck off cunts how is this /g/
gb2r and stay there faggots
