by the wording I'm thinking apples content flagging system probably falsely flagged one of her baby photos as CP or some shit.

Not telling her what the violation was is usually an indication that (in apples eyes) she's done something illegal and they don't want to tip her off to the fact that she's now under investigation by someone like the ICMEC.

If she's not a pedo they should just drop it and reinstate her account after a while though.

thats likely. In 2019 I got both my facebook and instagram accounts permabanned in the same day. with no official reason why and they refused to unlock either of them. I lost 12 years of facebook photos videos, and pretty much everything from late high school through college. it sucked but i moved on.

I suspect that it was because some bot flagged my glitched photos as a cyberattack. I posted images like these about 3 days before my accounts were both permanently suspended. the ironic thing is that these were just from a shitty SD card reader.

Are normies really this naive? Most of these services have clauses where they can terminate your account without reason. If they happen to experience hardware faults and lose data, it's easier to just terminate the existing accounts and save face than have it become a scandal and have everyone know. Them terminating her account for "reasons they can't disclose" is a better outcome than having people find out they were really sloppy with their data.

Not sure, I only suspect that's what it is because I remember reading about a common discord troll people used to pull where they would have an image that didn't deplict anything illegal, but this image was actually from a CP video so discord would ban anyone that posted it and one of the unique traits of the ban is they wouldn't give an explanation for the ban.

pretty sure something similar occurred with pedobear at one point too as it got falsely labelled as CP

>It was a Friday night in February 2021. His WIFE called an advice nurse at their health care provider to schedule an emergency consultation for the next morning, by video because it was a Saturday and there was a pandemic going on. The nurse said to send photos so the doctor could review them in advance.

>Mark’s WIFE grabbed HER husband’s phone and texted a few high-quality close-ups of their son’s groin area to her iPhone so she could upload them to the health care provider’s messaging system. In one, Mark’s hand was visible, helping to better display the swelling. Mark and his WIFE gave no thought to the tech giants that made this quick capture and exchange of digital data possible, or what those giants might think of the images.

This is unacceptable on Apple's part and I don't mean to defend them. I also accept that I'm being quite callous with the following opinion and wouldn't make it outside of cowardly anonymity.
BUT
>I promised Piper that I'd never let anything happen to her pictures no matter what
She failed to fulfil that promise. If you care about a piece of data, you need to keep it in at least two places at once. (It's not clear whether the photos were kept on the phone in addition to being in icloud, but if an icloud lock results in being unable to access the phone then the difference is immaterial.)
If she had asked any knowledgable person how to keep the photos safe, that person would have explained this to her.

I trust that she'll adopt a better strategy going forward.

Apple probably isnt responding because those pictures are literally gone. Like cannot be recovered and are not backed up anywhere if they reached the purge queues for their cloud servers. The "internet is forever" is a meme (except when its not and people want to make a lolcow out of you, then that shit really is forever because you can rely on the public to maintain and indefinite number of separate archives).

half the retards ITT blame HER for not having backups. well, lets talk about reality: most people have no idea how to make backups, or what they are needed for, or how much they cost. also, there are no safe ways to backup your shit. data flash memories doesn't last long, HDDs fucking suck at anything long term. SSDs suck even more.

another topic I've never seen talked in this board is the fact that all of these digital pics might be incompatible with digital technologies of the future, so we will see a LOT of stuff simply "get lost", probably. plus, printing pics is even more expensive and shitty than in the past...

No, I can't imagine myself in her place. We have completely different brain limbic systems. Over the course of generations, her brain was generated exclusively by the primitive squabble in the social environment to such an extent that the rational brain ceased to have any control over the emotional one. Of course, she could not have predicted this in any way in any parallel universe, she was mentally blind, for her - Apple is Chad, Alpha, Dominant, Social status +. Therefore, she urgently need to run away and trust him with your social power for the sake of convenience and greater power through sharing this on social networks (social photos are social proof among normies). My brain is relatively independent of all this, just like my ancestors.

What a nightmare. Not only was the father incorrectly flagged and lost all his Google accounts and services (some he had paid for), but he was also investigated by the police who then had access to all his online activity, which is a massive violation of his privacy in itself. All because he and his wife were worried about their toddler's health.

Yes. It's partly her fault.

Tech companies and the dumbing down they created (Android slowly sinking into the same level as iToddlerOS) help create these idiots who also happen to not know how to navigate file systems.

A photo of an ill toddler's genitals taken specifically to seek health care from a doctor is not CSAM. The child was not being sexually abused.
Context matters, and the parents were fine, google is wrong in this case, but they pay sufficient amounts to lawyers to make themselves right in the eyes of the courts.
All this means is that you should never ever trust any large corps.
>>

>The child was not being sexually abused.
It doesnt actually matter. The real question is
>"Would a pedophile enjoy this content?"
Thats why there are so many Sharenting awareness campaigns. Also lot of Steam do not get banned for its content but its their possible target audience hence so many game get banned because "pedophiles are a huge audience of it" despite being already being greenlighted
>>
>>99806396 here
just came back to say I read the whole thread and now I'm feeling REALLY smug

I kind of wish I had a bunch of external hard drives to keep data on but honestly I feel like data minimalism is more my style
Why should I keep anything? It's just a burden on the mind. I remember when I used to have more data and it felt like I had an obligation to interact with it in some way someday. I don't want that. I just want a few files I like and that's it. Everything else I can stream, or whatever. Most of my time using computers is just browsing 4chan anyway, and it's just throwaway stuff.

After all, I've browsed 4chan about 2hrs a day on average for about 15 years. It's all just memories now. The threads are long gone, but the knowledge, the way CULTURE of it, just remains inside of me, inside my DNA.

I guess that's how I store data, inside myself. Why be reliant on external objects to store data and entertain you with it, when you can enjoy memories on your own, and acquire new experiences every day?

The only valid reason I've ever heard for hoarding data was that if something disappears from the culture, someone can revive it if they saved it and it becomes relevant later someday. But that just pushes the same issue to the cultural level instead of my personal level.

Don't get me wrong, I am an optimist, and I believe that civilization will remain for a long time, if not forever. But I've seen so much go by and be deleted, unsaved. I don't mind. The great, the remarkable, the notable, will remain, and be preserved and reused. It's just the natural process whereby evolution occurs. Things must die in order for there to be a filtration process whereby that which is worthy may be passed on to the next generation. It's better than having 25,000 photos and having to sift through them all so you can pause and look at 100 of them for 2 seconds while scrolling through, and maybe keep 10 of them open for a full minute while you relate some story about them.

If you ask questions like that, basically all content should now be banned for various reasons.
>potential killer might enjoy action movies so ban them
>potential rapist might enjoy pornography so ban it
>>
>>99798164

>shitting on the toilet at 8 years old
>in the bath with my sister at 3 years old and can see my tiny cock
fuck photos in general.
>>
>>99797286
I thought I was the paranoid and outdated one. When I did my CompTIA Network+ exam one of the questions asked if its "best practice" or whatever to use cloud storage and that cloud is always more secure than local, i answered that on-premise is the most secure and got the question wrong
They teach cybersecurity in a way that protects executives of the corporations that you work for more than protecting your own self e.g. "zero trust" is "best practice"
>>
>>99807475
>basically all content should now be banned
yes, that is the intention
if everything is illegal then they get to choose what to enforce it upon without being "arbitrary justice"
>>
>>99807475
Youre missing the point. Its never a logical comparison
Remember
>GTA will turn kids into serial murders
Yet no one said medical doctors games would turn kids into medical doctors.
>potential killer might enjoy action movies so ban them
>potential rapist might enjoy pornography so ban it
I know you tried to give abusurd example but youre wrong. Lot of content from such genres was banned because of those very same reasons
Anyway. It doesnt really matters but this CSAN scan is nothing a way to justify cloud services scanning your content and forcing you to give content by otherwise risking social punishments
>>

this
my family has photos of me as a child
looking through family photos used to be a cringe thing I felt like I had to do with them
but I really enjoyed when we went through family photos last halloween so maybe it's redeemable? It was nice to see stuff I've never seen before and put faces to names I'd only heard in childhood. I hope this is something my Facebook account will finally be useful for someday.
I don't take photos any more. Will my children wonder what I was doing with my life? I was literally enjoying myself too much to actually take any photos at all. Maybe that's better. Maybe my collected life experiences will be a bigger boon to them than a 25,000 baby picture collection. I don't know.

>Tell that to the judge
Given the lack of charges filed against them, they already explained themselves to the state satisfactorily.
At minimum, a judge and prosecutor already examined the evidence and decided they were not breaking the law (Which they weren't).
Whether a pedo finds something arousing in this case is not relevant to the case at hand, as they were not distributing the photo in question to pedos on gmail, nor were they posting the pics on some pedo webring: they were sending it to a pediatrician. Context matters: their actions were innocuous.
This is just a case of a big corp covering its ass and refusing to back down.

Your hard drives almost certainly contain illegal material, which is why you're so familiar with the defense that CSAM consumers put forth.

So much this. You lost some pictures, shit happens. Generations of people lived and died without any pictures. Screaming and whining to the world like you're the main character is just pathetic
>>
>>99807440
I used to drink a lot. Pictures are touchstones. Some shit I would never remember without pictures because I never remembered it long enough to repeat it enough in my mind to make it stick. But more often I don't remember that I remember "that time" until I see a picture and suddenly neurons connect and I can put myself back there for at least a minute or two.

Some of it's not worth remembering but it was my life for a long time. The Now is much more important but you should never forget who you were.
>>
>>99807567
yeah I feel like a lot of people take more photos than maybe is really good for them. I have a friend that has thousands of photos of antique objects. I don't know if he looks at them much. He's a collector. He doesn't use much of what he buys. Like, he has over 20 vintage radios, all in perfect working condition and restored by him, and occasionally puts one on his dresser and turns it on. I've asked him about it often and he says he doesn't like to see good, old stuff go to waste.

I often see people outside taking selfies and stuff. The fake smile, the picture that will be scrolled past 100 times and opened twice, the whole facade. It's like the boomer philosophers were right about the "simulacrum". I think it's silly.

I mean, I spend most of my time reading 4chan, which is just text and therefore representational in nature. But at least it's novel. I like to see everyone's ideas being shared in an anonymous public forum with all the honesty and silliness that goes with that. Just letting it all flow by, you know?
I don't think people like me "waste time" like some people "waste time". My kind of timewasting is scrolling through the latest in the cultural zeitgeist and looking for juicy tidbits. Other people's timewasting involves this weird game of putting up a face which obscures the real, and then trying to get as many people to see it as possible, while scrolling through other people's version of the same thing, and getting jealous of the ones who have had theirs seen by more people. I don't think I understand what's so enjoyable about that. Am I autistic?

pic related, it's "the face".

trollolol I think your glitched photos are actually embedded with other content. possibly illegal content so you deserve your ban.

I had experience on data recovery on my own and usually glitched music have pictures or audio mushed-in together (due to fragmentation) so I had to check all my music files to see if there were text files padded on into it since I had a habit of saving passwords plaintext (and I did find some files with my notes and passwords), and then it occurred to me that some photos also had text files too even if they look normal.
this happens when windows corrupts its file name database, though you can recover stuff easily with checkdisk when corrupted, it would sometimes increase the file's length (overlap) or end up fucking fragmented mix of files. maybe your shit had an exe file embedded or some ominous shit (or maybe lol you're a pedo?), or other cases, some hackerman used your photos on another crime (or reposted it on other sites) so it got linked to you.

that's another reason to get back to CDs, the only trusty storage, all you need to do is have common sense at storing them (i.e no dust, humidity free and as sealed as you can)
>inb4 your discs can get scratched at some point
absolute skill issue, even if you do so, you can polish the scratches, and re-record a copy on a new disk

I love seeing Apple retards get fucked but I can understand her frustration with a megacorp fucking you over for seemingly no reason and then being completely unhelpful in even explaining their actions against you.

Youtube randomly deleted a favorites playlist of over 4000 videos that I was building since the creation of my account in 2009. I asked why and they said that it contained videos that went against TOS. Okay? Just remove the fucking video then. Why does a playlist have to get deleted because of a video on it? Why am I getting punished for someone else's video? Youtube basically just repeated "Read our TOS guidelines for the reason" without telling me anything specific.

It's just women. Women are fucking retarded and weird. Some of the 20-somethings I work with have thousands upon thousands of photos and when they're scrolling through them to show me something, every "moment" that a normal person would take 1 photo in is 10-20 for them. They also take photos/videos when they cry or have any emotion at all.

pictures and videos are great. me and my long lasting friends made hundreds of video clips with phones of us drunk high and etc. basically all those clips exist on my machine and theirs but were never watched. wanted to delete them multiple times. recently i had a basic idea, why not connect all those clips into a few thematic videos. created a few videos, told them what i did and we all got together to relieve things that happened 10 to 20 years ago. and it was great and worth it

The perceptual hashing system used for matching CSAM is dogshit, and hash collisions are possible. In fact the hash is so shit you can reverse it using a neural network. In fact, Apple seems uniquely prone to this, there are research papers showing that Apple’s perceptual hashing can be abused to force hash collisions (https://arxiv.org/abs/2111.06628). Given that it is possible, if unlikely, for random photos to cause hash collisions, it doesn’t seem that much of a stretch for a woman’s gallery of baby photos to trigger a false match.

second mistake she is no threatening to escalate it to every media awailable on earth

you would see how quickly will they solve it

Beware of the retards who use that word.
I store my shit encrypted as the secondary backup. If it goes down, I'm still fine.

In fact, I don't think storing my shit locally is less risky. I'm literally forced to think about data preservation, and that ain't easy. Disk rotation schedule, 3-2-1, resilient FS (zfs), complex backups. Nobody in my circle can manage that except myself. It makes the data safe, but if I get hit by a bus, the result is the same, the data is gone.

There's nothing wrong with using ms. In North America and for a time in England, it's the default honorific for women until they indicate otherwise or if their marital status is painfully obvious. For example, a kindergarten girl is obviously miss. An old woman sitting beside an old man and a kid runs up to them calling them grandma and grandpa, you call her mrs.

I almost guarantee the name/email change combined with recently getting an Apple Card is the problem. Likely it tripped some kind of automated fraud thing. You can find all manner of examples with "Chase closed all my accounts for no reason and wont tell me why" etc. This is an issue with Apple Card being tied to your Apple ID, where as when its a bank its just that bank account affected. I would have guessed Apple and Goldman had the iCloud and Card parts siloed better...but then again maybe not. I may be wrong but it sure comes across just like it does when banks do this.

>CSAM images are not stored on or sent to the device. Instead of actual images, Apple uses unreadable hashes that are stored on device.
>These hashes are strings of numbers that represent known CSAM images, but it isn’t possible to read or convert those hashes into the CSAM images they are based on.

No, it does not give Apple the right to terminate for "any reason" or "no reason"
Sure, the language used is vague, but says "under certain circumstances."
If those circumstances are undisclosed, in our Statist society, disputes get settled in a Court of Law or in Arbitration.
In Ancap society, dispute resolution involves Nukes.
