I check a few different sites, mandarake, doujinrepublic ( a little expensive if you end up only getting 1 or 2 things) suruga-ya, ec.toranoana.jp but for those last 2 you will need some kind of forwarding service. Not sure if the others ship to Australia though

Boxes are Graded Comic Book Bins by BCW and sleeves/bags are Mylites 4 + Backboards. I'd have to say this one, by Taki Re-Ki. They're all great, but this is probably the only one where every page of every chapter does it for me in a big way. Sad part is that he's an author who almost never gets translated, so I can only guess what it's actually about.

Do You Wanna Be Dominated by Kokuryuugan is close to being the favorite, but that single chapter with the nun holds it back. I love femdom, but that chapter is a nope for me.

Best way would be to commission them, I think. Some groups do translations by word count, others have a set price per page, some of them do a set commission rate, etc. Failing that, you could just learn Japanese.

It's by Kabuki Shigeyuki and I actually have no idea what the title is. I can't read Japanese and I've actually never seen it uploaded to panda or anything. I just saw it was a new release from an artist I really like and grabbed it.
>>
>>6160911
I assumed I read the title wrong because I couldn't find it on sadpanda, but it turns out it just isn't scanned anywhere.
Most pics I could find were in a blog post: http://blog-mougenda.com/archives/15428647.html.

The title is "「犯す人」の事を「犯人」と呼ぶ", which means something like "People who commit crimes are called criminals", although 犯す also means "rape" so maybe they mean "rapists".
Looks nice. Lots of forced cowgirl which is my favorite kind of femdom.

Another small haul, man waiting for shit to show up on manda so I can get good value orders is since up to a certain weight shipping is about the same price but, I fucking hate it when someone snipes one of the things from my cart that I'd been holding.
>>
>>6158736
What I usually do is check if it hasn't been uploaded on sadpanda when I get it and if still hasn't, then I dismantle the doujinshi by heating the spine with a blowdryer and gently pulling the pages off of the cover. Then, I cut the cover in half, but I'd recommend also using a ruler so you can get a more straight cut. The most important thing to have is a good scanner. Recently, I've been using an Epson Perfection V600 and it's pretty good. It's also pretty quick compared to the ET-3750, but I still need to find a way to quickly convert jpgs to pngs since the filesize limit is smaller for jpgs than it is for pngs on sadpanda.
>>
>>6164510

there are ways of batch converting a bunch of files. i use irfanview for that kind of thing. it's free and light weight.

>>
>>6164510
>>6164514
Thanks for the info, I'm not really looking to dismantle my doujin, I like to keep them whole as many are probably one of a kind where I live and not really easily bought twice.

Can confirm that Irfanview is the best tool btw, will pretty much save you 99% of your time, you can go as advanced as you want with it
>>
>>6164567
Anon, you should at this point just embrace your fetish, otherwise you won't be able to buy a single doujin once you're physically in Japan even though it's the most rewarding and fun experience, in a store or comiket.

Just buy whatever you want, normies are just coping with the fact that they can't show a single sign of abnormality like having hobbies that don't conform to the norm and make fun of others because they themselves don't have any personality to speak of.
>>
>>6164567
>buying hentai at an anime convention
That was your first mistake, faggot.
>>
>>6164645
I don't see the problem?
>>
>>6164650
Not only are they usually marked up in price, but they also tend to have a far smaller selection. Besides, you wouldn't be giving money to the artist himself, but to the collector who's selling the doujinshi.
>>
>>6164657
>marked up in price
Depends on where you get them otherwise.

>far smaller selection
True, but you could say that about any store you go to if you're comparing to online. That's why you just have to go look. Sometimes, you'll find exactly what you're looking for, like aforementioned fetish doujin.

>Besides, you wouldn't be giving money to the artist himself
That's almost always the case unless you're handing the artist a wad of cash in person. So again, I don't see the problem?
>>
>>6164657
I mean 99% of doujin are only buyable via used markets such as mandarake and surugaya so actually paying the artists is pretty rare as they release 1 doujin per year which is often only available for about 4 weeks.
>>6164650
You're paying a big markup, doujinshi you buy at conventions are almost always around 500 yen (5$) in used stores, or 600yen new. Even in the cases where you find a rare fetish that is going to be at best 10$ in Japan and still 20$ at the convention.
Buy from Japan and buy in bulk (6 doujinshi minimum) and you're undercutting convention sellers by 50% or more even with import and postal.
You also have a way broader selection if you can just copy paste japanese artists names from sadpanda.
>>
>>6164666
>I mean 99% of doujin are only buyable via used markets such as mandarake and surugaya
That's wrong though. You can buy digital doujinshi on dlsite, melonbook, and dmm and they tend to have sizable physical stocks of doujinshi before they run out on melonbook, dmm, and toranoana.
>>
>>6164674
I don't buy digital, I can see how you might call me a hypocrite for that fact, but I don't see much valule in owning anything digitally even if I'm supporting the artists, I'd rather donate 5$ for a fantia than buy a digital good of 5$

Still, only the most popular artists have any stock, I'm buying more than just the latest stuff, I mostly buy complete collections of (often somewhat obscure) artists or at least a sizeable chunk of their works, 10% of the time only their last release is in stock, and 1% of the time it's more than just the latest release. The other 90% is just no stock at all, and I could be happy if they were just available at used stores so I don't have to scout yahoo auctions which is a pain.

Going to comiket is the only time I can really support artists directly and spend the moolah.
>>
>>6164666
I'm not going to go to Japan just to buy porn. And I'm not going to buy bulk either. I almost exclusively buy tanks unless it's rare fetish or something legendary that will never be in a tank.

>>6164674
>You can buy digital doujinshi on dlsite
You see what thread you're in?

>and they tend to have sizable physical stocks of doujinshi before they run out on melonbook
I just checked melonbook for a book I own with the recommended proxy service, and it's still cheaper to order from where I usually order. And it's been a while since the last convention, but I'm pretty sure the price was about the same for similar books.
>>
>>6164685
Kek, don't worry, you don't have to go to japan, you can easily order physical doujin and tankoubons onlilne nowadays, tankoubon are around the 300-800 yen mark and are in pristine condition at mandarake, they ship directly to the US.

(if you want to minmax you can do it via proxy but wouldn't recommend it unless you buy a lot)
>>
>>6164688
My point is that there's no reason to not buy at American anime cons other than the selection being limited, in which case you wouldn't be buying anything anyway so it's moot. The price is typically the same as shipping from Japan and you're supporting the artists as much you would buying from Mandarake or doujin republic. Plus, there's stuff actually in English. I'm not going to Japan for porn, especially if it's porn I can't even read.
>>
>>6164698
Ah I see, that's fair.
I buy a lot of doujin / collect various specific artists so the anime convention stuff really isn't worth it for me, I'd be in huge debt if I bought my collection at cons if they ever stocked what I was looking for.

But yeah for english stuff anime cons are often cheaper than buying from Fakku directly.

Still there must be some god tier artists you have seen on panda that you'd love an original of? That's how I got started anyways. But you do you.
>>
>>6164712
>Still there must be some god tier artists you have seen on panda that you'd love an original of?

It's just nice to get absorbed in the con spirit and buy overpriced shit since you are there already. Going to a con isn't the most financially wise decision anyway unless you find the cheapest air bnb and stuff and don't buy any merch or tickets to events or cosplay but, then why even go to a con in the 1st place?
>>
>>6164788
The only conventions I'd ever go to are Comiket and probably Reitaisai, and I've already done the former. I highly recommend bringing a cheap zippable bag, some water, and a covenient portable stool to sit on since the wait before it opens up is like, several hours if you want a good spot in line. Also, know where each circle you want to visit are located. Also, bring a bunch of 500 yen coins.
>>

>>
>>6165145
Be sure to go for golden size, others are unfortunately too small.
>>
>>6165325
Thanks for the tip.
I was going to measure them to be sure first, but now I don't have to.

How do you store your doujinshi? I was going to put them in one of those boxes, but putting them in a binder with backing boards would also be neat.
>>
>>6165336
I use the bags + backing boards and store them in a cardboard box. There's a lot of different brands out there and BCW is certainly not the cheapest. For doujin you don't need mylar or anything ridiculous so if you can find something which isn't absolute trash it should still suffice, just be sure to buy backing boards and bags from the same brand because sizes can differ a bit between brands.

(these bags are normally for comics which are 50 years old and/or made of something weaker than toilet paper, your average doujin is 20x higher quality when it comes to materials, even in 50 years)

I bag + board (making sure the fold/flap is on the backside) and put them in magazine size boxes as golden size boxes are nonexistent where I live and putting them in naked is probably not great for the structural integrity of the doujin but not disastrous either.

The absolute best/rarest doujin I put in toploaders (still bagged + boarded) and those still fit in the magazine size boxes.

for normal doujin it's 100 bags + 100 boards for 20$, so 20 cents per doujin, for a toploader it's 1$ a piece here so 1,20$ per doujin.

I'd recommend just buying 100 bags(with adhesive strips) + 100 boards (one sided boards is fine) and a single cardboard magazine sized box for what amounts to probably 30$ and just see what works for you, maybe you're fine with just bagging your doujin (backing board exist so the corners/doujin don't fold, not 100% neccesary).

If you're really into it, or feel like protecting your doujin to perfection is worth that extra cash, you can always upgrade to a better material, like mylar, double sided boards, plastic boxes etc. For me, I own 600 doujin so storing them in mylar would cost me insane amount of money for not that much benefit, I might consider it for the absolute god tier ones though.

Doujin collecting is still incredibly cheap compared to some of my other hobbies.

>>
>>6165384
All of Japan has insane standards for used items, if a figure box is damaged that reduces the figure's value by near 20%.
They simply don't accept doujinshi with creases/imperfections in them for resale unless it's really rare/valuable. This is also due to the fact that the Japanese think of all their belongings as very precious and treat them as such.

That sounds incredibly expensive.
Do you have a specific interest or are they mostly the ultra classics?

This bums me out a bit because there is a lot of stuff from project H I wanted for ages but couldn't get because I was a broke college kid. Now I have a job and I'd love to get Ring x Mama and Velvet Kiss and that last goddamn volume of Makunouchi Deluxe but that stuff is impossible to find...

That Asanagi one looks great. Where can you order these in decent quality? I know there's chinese stores that'll print anything, but the quality is always shit.

That is an official one that they did a very limited release on I bought it because it's my favorite doujin by him Pic related is another. I normally just look for them on yahoo auctions and buy with a proxy service. They can get expensive if you want the real thing though as they do not make very many.

Got a haul of mostly random items i wanted today, mostly just to finish off missing issues of series I have partly collected

How’d i do
>>
>>6166712
i collect a fair amount of Japanese film (ozu, obayashi, kurosawa, itami, suzuki, etc.) + broader east asian (WKW, chan, yang) + western releases (lynch, anderson, schrader, bergman, etc.)
it's expensive on normal days but criterion has two 50% off sales yearly (one for a whole month) so then the regular blus are ~$19, so it's really not so bad. I love movies and I love physical collecting of stuff so it's worth it to me.

We have similar taste. I think you would like Takeshi Kitano and Hirokazu Koreeda. Teshigahara has also done some interesting concept movies like Woman in the Dunes and The Face of Another.
>>
>>6167934
Based taste with those Lemonmaiden ones alone.

I just saw Koreeda's Still Walking the other day and liked it a lot, planning to check out Shoplifters soon. I haven't seen any Kitano yet but I have a bunch in my watchlist, and I definitely do need to see Woman in the Dunes. Thanks for the shout.
