I never understood why sheep and shepherd for Christianity is a common metaphor. On the surface it seems relatively innocent but a minute of contemplation can expose the problems. Sheep aren't cared for by the shepherd out of loveliness and generosity. They provide wool and more importantly, meat for sustenance. It's a deceptive relationship.
That's actually easyIt's because Shepherds are known to be a bunch of untrustworthy men. The fact that they go from one place to another mean that they have no loyalty to the place they are staying at and have no qualms betraying its people because there are many other places they could go to. They were not allowed to join guilds, marry people from outside their group. They were only slightly higher in the social order than executioners or gravediggers who were not only considered dishonest but also unclean.>https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unehrlicher_BerufJesus subverted the expectations. Every Jew expects the messiah to be some warrior kingHe came in as random carpenter who exalts the ostracized
>>17270891no logic argument.
Because shepherding was incredibly common profession in Israel.
>>17270901This. That's the entire reason for all the parables and anecdotes involving sheep and goats.
>>17270705Jews openly mock christcucks for being dumb cattle
>>17270705Okay, so where is the scriptural evidence that God will eat Christians for meat? Or that the relationship is in any way deceptive? Maybe there is none and you’re just taking poorly thought out jabs at people you hate.> My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perishYou didn’t think about what you were posting for more than two seconds, otherwise the ridiculousness of your argument would be clear to you. Repent and turn to Christ.
>>17270705It's kind of funny because there's at least one passage that acknowledges this aspect, in Psalm 49:Like sheep they sink down to Sheol [Underworld]; Death [Mot/Mawet, ruler of Sheol] will be their shepherd; And the upright will rule over them in the morning,And their form shall be for Sheol to consumeThe polytheistic aspect has been scrubbed from most translations, but the idea was that the rival ruler of the underworld is also a shepherd who, naturally, preys on his flock. And God's role is to save people from this evil shepherd. See the common biblical phrasing "God will redeem me/my soul from Sheol/Death", like how the firstborn offspring of every womb meant to be sacrificed can be redeemed (spared) in life.
>>17270931The sheep in Ps49 are specifically “those who have foolish confidence” from the prior verse, not believers.
>>17270705>shepherds look at God and say God is like a shepherd and we are his flock>artists look at God and say God is like an artist and we are his painting>clockmakers look at God and say God is like a clockmaker and we are his clock>programmers look at God and say God is like a programmer and we are his simulationTruth is that they are all right. On the shepherd metaphor, it's important to note that for a large part, certain obligations get flipped. Instead of the shepherd sacrificing or eating one of his flock, it is instead He that is sacrificed and it is He of whom we eat. That's (partly) because God gets no use out of shepherding His flock. There is nothing we can give Him that wasn't already His. He is doing it entirely and completely out of love for us. We, in the other hand, have great need of Him. That is why we fulfill the role of the shepherd in the aspect of need, from sacrificing the lamb to nurturing ourselves with His flesh.
>>17270940Every man is doomed to be sheep in Sheol. God saves the righteous from that fate:>But God will redeem my soul from the hand of Sheol, for he will receive me.(Psalm 49:15, the very next line after that passage)
>>17270891So Jesus is untrustworthy...I live in such a place where sheep are raised.First they are fleeced, then they are eaten.Likewise you're fleeced and will be snuffed.
>>17270893>no logic argumentI understand the logic. You might just be retarded Anon.
>>17270962>Noooo, my shepherd would never do that! "He lets me lie down in green pastures, he leads me besides quiet waters!" He just wants us to be fruitful and multiply because he loves us so much! He promised he won't eat me! He said I will have eternal life after he snuffs out this one! Can't believe people keep falling for this obvious loosh-harvesting con.
>>17270962>is untrustworthyNo, but certainly precived as such.
>>17270973No? I missed the part where the good are tested and have rough lives but pedophile priest don't? Did I ever tell you about posessed people? They tend to be people who made minor mistakes of religious kind, meanwhile, child traffickers, mafia, corrupt politicians, etc don't get posessed.
>If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.
>Christians call themselves sheeplmao you can't make this uptaking the concept of "sheeple" to a whole new level
>>17270705"shepherd" is used all throughout the OT and NT for a variety or reasons. The name itself is derived from the Hyksos who were the "Shepherd King" invaders of Egypt who were essentially proto-Jews that the "Exodus" myth is based of off. The "Hykso-Jews" just made themselves the "victims" and slaves, rather than the victimizers and slavers. The Egyptian hieroglyph for their name even has a shepherd's crook within it, and all the "iron chariot"/"chariot" of god language comes from as the Hyksos got the chariot tech from the IE folks up the road, like the Hitties. Now, why a shepherd, in particular? Because they're the perfect metaphor that depicts the typical Semitic religious paradigm of a "God-King" that lords over his flock of mindless slaves over whom he has absolute dominion, the power of life and death, along with the ability to control "marriage" and breeding, all while simultaneously exploiting your neighbors fields as you pass through "like a thief in the night", only to be gone without accountability by morning. This is reflected in the Cain & Able myth where the animal sacrifice is preferred. The more murder, death and blood letting the better, after all. Shepherds are dominionist, psychopaths and so the various Semitic traditions. That's why they're always couched in the language of the "The Law". Legalistic Totalitarianism devoid of true morality, ethics, insight or intelligence. That part of the world worships mindless obedience above all else. That's why it only endures and appeals to the most dim witted, of course.

>>17273836We are.To start with, the government have imposed heavy fines and outright forbid the Churches from opening its doors to the homeless. Why? Because the Church actually have incentives in solving the problem. If the problem got fixed, the city will receive less fundsAnd our only TV channel is an online mass.
