In 1777, emperor Joseph II made a clandestine visit to Versailles to see his sister Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI.
One topic he privately discussed was the couple's inability to consumate their marriage, which he attributed to their inexperience. In a letter, Joseph criticized the royal couple as "complete fumblers":
“In his [Louis XVI's] marriage bed, he has strong erections, he inserts his member, remains there for perhaps two minutes without moving, withdraws without ejaculating, and while still erect, bids good night. It’s incomprehensible... My sister does not have the temperament for this and together they make an utterly inept couple.”
>>
>Joseph described the couple as "complete fumblers"; however, with his advice, Louis XVI began to apply himself more effectively to his marital duties, and in the third week of March 1778 Marie Antoinette became pregnant

>Eventually, the royal couple became the parents of four children

At least Emperor Joe managed to get the problem solved

>Among his many enlightened reforms, Joseph granted emancipation to Austria's Jews, permitting them to actively participate in the country's social and cultural life. There were a few caveats--no synagogues could be constructed in Vienna and certain towns were marked as off-limits for Jews. This was apparently more out of concern for their safety than anything as the emperor believed things would end poorly should they be allowed in the towns in question.[3]

I want to learn about French history from the 17th century to the end of the 19th century. Where do I start reading?
>>
>>17273678
A Brief History of France by Paul F State or The Discovery of France by Graham Robb. Just skip to the time periods you want.

For the French Revolution specifically, I'd say read William Doyle's work

Given that no one here chimps out over this like they do Cromwell letting the Jews into England or Napoleon emancipating the Jews I assume it must be a nothingburger

AFAIK Jews did not have total civil rights in Austria until 1848. They then became so culturally and intellectually dominant that it fueled an anti-Semitic wave that Hitler rode off of (really, Austria was far more an anti-Semitic hotbed than Germany proper).
