It's now day three of the daily presidents threads I'm doing in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the USA's independence.Today is Thomas Jefferson (4/13/1743 - 7/4/1826), the primary author of the Declaration of Independence. He served two terms from 1801 to 1808. Notable actions or moments in his presidency include Marbury v. Madison, the 1st Barbary War, the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Aaron Burr Conspiracy, the Chesapeake-Leopard Affair, and the Embargo Act of 1807. After the presidency he founded the University of Virginia What do you think of the guy who clapped chocolate cheeks?
Why do people shit on North Korea for admiring their founding fathers but Americans are allowed to do it with impunity?
>>18490925J*fferson was a slave rapist and literal psychopath who destroyed democracy in America before it could even start.
The Adams years were pretty dark ones marred by partisan infighting and economic depression. Jefferson did really well all the way until the Embargo Act disaster in his last two years--the economy was doing good and there was a feeling of national unity.
>>18490931>Roosevelt>Abe Lincoln>founding fathersFucking retard lmao. Also hilariously bad faith to compare a monument in the middle of fucking nowhere to some of the most influential presidents to Norks who literally worship the Kim Dynasty as gods that descended from heaven to lead North Korea.
>>18491269>The Adams years were pretty dark ones marred by partisan infighting...that Jefferson caused, and then he ended up being all the tyrant and more he accused Adams of being
>>18491205>>18491285Calm down, LBJfag.
my favorite part was when he tried to have Aaron Burr lynched for a plot to secede the Southwest that he was probably involved in himself
>>18491205>destroyed democracy in America before it could even startCare to elaborate?
>>18491269>national unityMeaning what, exactly? America isn't supposed to be one unified construct. That's why it was a confederacy for the first decade of its existence.
>>18491546>>18490925Tom Jefferson stayed up to writeA declaration late at nightSo he and his wife had a great big fightAnd she made him sleep on the couch all night!
reminder that Jefferson started the idea of winning elections by defaming your opponent and screaming fraud when you lose instead of civilized debates about issues
>>18491353That story is very funny because Burr and co. basically got off because no one made that illegal yet.
>>18490931America doesn't censor unflattering facts about the Founding Fathers and it doesn't throw people in prison camps for criticizing them
