Why did Hitler declare war on the US after pearl harbour even though Japan didn't declare war on the Soviet Union after operation barbarossa commenced? What did he have to gain from this?

He worshipped a goddess called Fate or Providence that guided his actions. Not everything he did is comprehensible to mortal minds

Desperation to prevent Lend-Lease and win the battle for the Atlantic.

Germany was already losing under the current status quo, their enemies were outpacing them due to US involvement.

The US had long since stopped being neutral. The declaration of war merely formalized the existing situation in the Atlantic except it actually gave Germany an advantage to target shipping near the US coast, which led to a sharp increase in tonnage sunk ("Second happy time").

The US was never neutral. They were supporting the Soviet Union with materials and supplies. Soviets would've lost if not for American support.

>They were supporting the Soviet Union
Britain recieved 3 times more Lend-Lease than the Soviets did.
The real reason was to win the battle for the Atlantic to prevent L-L altogether.

That's not what I asked, read the question again dumbass. This is regarding Japan.

Your question is on a false premise.
The declaration of war was never about some sort of duty to Japan.
It was about the fact that the Germans were losing on every front because of US involvement.
US navy was escorting British convoys across the Atlantic with a shoot-on-sight order against German submarines.
Likewise US had deployed its forces on Iceland to aid the British forces there, another breach of neutrality that gave Britain and edge.

The declaration of war meant Germany could target convoys more effectively and also operate near US coastline which also gave an edge to Germany.
Likewise Hitler had been informed that the US could not mobilize against the European front for many years. Even in 1944 the Germans were in complete denia and disbelief over US mobilization.

Idk what kind of answer you're looking for.
Again your OP question is under a false premise. I suppose another answer could be hindsight. The Germans may have regret that they didnt involve Japan in Barbarossa (Japanese foreign minister visited Berlin in early 1941 and was kept in the dark about the planned invasion of the USSR) because the Germans beleived the USSR would be an easy fight. By late 1941 they may have come to terms with the fact that there was need for stronger collaberations with Japan.

Hitler explains it in his Declaration of War on America speech. It had nothing to do with Japan.
