If this had happened, and a proper basket case theocracy formed and managed to last about 70 years? We could have had a timeline where Baron Nikolai Robert Maximilian Freiherr von Ungern-Sternberg ascended to shamanic priest king of China and Russia and then invent the kinds of atrocities that would make an Iron Age Assyrian king call for a war crimes tribunal. I concur entirely with this. If China entered a warlord era in the mid 19th century I think a full partition between the imperialist nations would have followed, like the partition of Africa.
