I can understand battlecruisers being lumped in with battleships, but HMS Tiger was a conventional cruiser (she had a displacement of around twelve thousand tons; Hood, by comparison, had a displacement of some forty-seven thousand tons).

Not a military logistic genius but that's a cool maneuver. Looks like they were travelling in a line and then engaged the enemy by turning towards their fleet, making their profiles as small as possible.

I walked on this one as a kid, discovered all sorts of nooks and crannies like the magazine room and even slept in its bunks for a night. The submarine was cool to explore too. Fall River, Massachusetts.

What's the issue exactly?
There's different way to write japanese names of course Fusō / Fusau is the same word though "-au" might be closer to how you'd write it for english pronunciation.

Date written is 20th day of the 4th month of the 16th year of the Showa era (Showa emperor being Hiro-Hito, the 16th year of his reign).

You can read or decipher the moonrunes but know nothing else or what...?

You're welcome. I'm surprised it's lasted as long as it has, but I suppose it makes a nice change from what's usually posted on this board.

What, if any, is the modern day equivalent of a battleship? Naval vessels seem much smaller and faster these days.

IMO The carrier group is the modern day equivalent. Serves pretty much the same purpose. Show of power.

I would think that something like a modern Arleigh Burke-class destroyer could pulverize a WW2 battleship battle group.

The Kirov class were always considered "battlecruisers" and the last big surface warships. They were one of the reasons for refitting the Iowas in the 80's.

Only with many torpedo hits. The huge amount of armor of the main armor belt and the armored deck can easely withstand rockets. There's spall liner decks to stop fragmentation, You may be doing alot of exterior damage, take it out of fighting capability, but you won't be doing critical damage

In theory its to make it harder for submarines to get an accurate bearing angle on the ship to launch a torpedo. When using a torpedo you have to WAAAY lead your shot, so even a 1-2 degree mistake can lead to a miss.
