Drafts, blueprints, etc. with archaic feels.Starting with pages from Wenzel Jamnitzer's Perspectiva Corporum Regularium (1568).

The level of genius it would have take to create these from pure imagination. Great thread OP.
>>4615676Thank you, OP. These are beautiful.

does it bump?
yes, it does (again)
>>46287751734 .?. WoW <~what a Great Year.
i know, right?
Do these blueprints correspond to Prime numbersor perhaps Fibonacci sequence?
>>4635861Yes these shapes are based off 'regular polyhedron' which are essentially the prime numbers of geometry. The 'golden ratio' which comes from taking the ratios of Fibonacci sequence pairs is found in abundance in the ratios between side lengths & node distances in almost every single one of the polyhedron presented in this collection.

artistic shapes, yes.but how does one apply them to every day modern Life?
These shapes seem so modern

>>4641095to the vast majority of people these shapes are entirely useless.they are really just expressions of masterful drafting capabilities and geometric prowess.basically just a huge 1500's intellectual flex.the core geometric principles that these shapes are built off of are useful today in subatomic physics and chemistry, but the specific shapes depicted are still pretty useless.their use in my life is to provide inspiration. they help me to appreciate the depth of human capability that can be achieved through continuous effort and exploration of one's interests. to see that something like this could be imagined and then presented with such artistic & geometric perfection half a millennium ago without the aid of any kind of digital technology is astounding. it motivates me to put in the work to master my own endeavors.

how to draw shapes like these? do they sketch freehand and then use drafting tools to make a pristine ink drawing?
interesting stuff
>>4652643They definitely used drafting tools like an engraving workbench (because these are cut prints) which can carve perfect straight lines and circles into the medium.
>>4643454They look like they're summoning Cenobites
Actually insane the amount of work this must've taken to do in 1568
