>>616423This took so much longer than it should of, I don't draw very often. My friends and I got curious and started watching the 1989 Kimba the White Lion series together and I've grown to really like Kimba as a character and think he's real cute, so I decided to try and draw him.Oekaki Post (Time: 1h 51m, Replay: View)

>>620718Thank you very much, your arts good too!
>>620736Thanks, also how is the movie any good?>>620358Cool Luigi>>620737Stylish SucyOekaki Post (Time: 8m)
>>620793Oh I'm not doing the movie yet, there's several series' stretching back all the way to the 60s.There's the 1965 one which has big Saturday morning cartoon energy,a sequel from 1966 which was dubbed horribly. Then the one I'm watching is the 1989 series which is a lot more serious than the others. If you like cute lions and gratuitous animal violence I think you'd potentially like the 89 one, but again which series you watch really depends on what you like out of a show.My friends and I are gonna be watching a special from the Tezuka Museum after we're done with the 89 series, and then the movie (i assume you mean the 1997 one yeah?) is gonna be our grand finale.
>>620793TY for the kind words (Artist of 620737).
>>620800I only knew about the movie, didn't know that there were more of it, interesting.>>620861It look really nice.Oekaki Post (Time: 17m)
>>620913There are also a couple of manga, one is the original story following Kimba from birth to death, and one is more kid oriented and follows him growing up in a much lighter story kids can grasp easier. Original manga is from 1950, the spin off for kids was from the mid-60s. Kimba's 70 years old.Pardon I'm going on and on cause there's just so much to it that happened over so many years ya know? Thanks for hearing me out, anon!
>>620917Its fine.It is really interesting hearing the apparent rabbit hole of all the media of Kimba that is there.Oekaki Post (Time: 10m)
>>620927Thanks for listening, decided to draw an adult Kimba when doing this, took inspiration from the baseball team that uses him as a mascot.Yeah if you get really into it there's an absolute ton of it to explore and get into, along with several crossovers and the like.

>>620965Thats a pretty good drawing. It a series that I need to plan out what I want to watch and just seat through it.Oekaki Post (Time: 6m)
>>619880i swear I've seen this before but don't remember what it's from
>>621088Thanks <3 Mostly tried to mimic the manga stlye in this one, but the legs got me in the end. With the 1989 one you might need to hunt for some of the episodes, but a fandub efforts underway for the last 10.The first 15 episodes are on a random anime site, the viki subs 16 through 42 are on internet archive, then I can see where this person I know keeps the rest he's working on, I plan on helping with the effort by archiving this all with him.The old ones and films are all on Youtube. The dubs are in varying quality, subs are kinda rare for older ones, the 89 one is only dubbed for 13 episodes.I think the 89 one is the most interesting but it's also the most violent and I dunno how crazy it gets later, I'm only in 22 episodes so far.Oekaki Post (Time: 1h 51m)
>>621118Most of those two hours were horrible leg attempts, gosh that made things much longer than I wanted it to be.
Don't worry I'll believe hard enough for legs to appear.Yeah, its a good thing to archives media because you never know one day it will be gone. Surprise their all this media and a fan base working to support it.Oekaki Post (Time: 14m)
>>621177I'm surprised there's a fanbase too honestly. Imagine my shock when I find a quiet chat with 200 folks in it who all love this 70 year old character lol. It's sort of a micro-fandom if you will. And yeah that was exactly the case with the 1989 series, it was Gone one day cause no one expected the subbers to have to delete it from youtube, but it's finally getting recovered now fortunately.Oekaki Post (Time: 1h 17m)
>>619951Nice job anon
>>621268I couldn't make her look right, guess I'll gonna take a couple of whacks at drawing her again to make it look right.Someone like myself only heard of Kimba due to the lion king and similarity between the two I never really looked too deep into it. I assumed their were a manga of it before the movie but I never knew of all the media that had Kimba in.Good people started archiving it since it a series that many people don't look at till its too late.I looked at the first volume of the 1950 manga very interested on going through it.Oekaki Post (Time: 18m)
Oekaki Post (Time: 20m, Replay: View)
>>621271I'm happy you're interested, and yeah that's how a lot of folks find out about it.For me I was curious beforehand and remembered a friend having a VHS of it as a kid but I wasn't interested yet lol.I got more and more curious though and the recent YMS video pushed me over the edge into watching it since I got to see Kimba animated and see how he acted a bit and I liked getting that little peek in.Yeah we're really lucky folks archived it, before the 80s series resurfaced on the Internet Archive, the subs of episodes 16-42 were essentially lost media.I hope you enjoy the story!Pardon some of the antiquated portrayals of Africans later on, Tezuka was inspired by Disney so he had no idea it wasn't okay to draw folks like that lol. He apologized later. I'm gonna be reading the manga after my friend's and I finish the series and watch the 1997 film. The art style in the manga looks super cute though, I love it.Oekaki Post (Time: 55m)
>>621335I'll pardon the way they portray people of different races since I know its made in the 1950, it was a different time. The manga seem like a perfect thing to look through when drinking tea or whatever. A bit of similarity with the lion king already though what little I read, seem like a nice cute adventure manga.Oekaki Post (Time: 14m)
>>621443I'm really looking forward to reading the manga myself, I'm saving it for once my watch parties are all wrapped up, I'm glad you've been enjoying it!If you watch an animated series, the soundtrack is fantastic. Here's a goodie if you'd like.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73Urm2ZKHrAIt opens up with a very 80s anime opening you can find pretty easily if you search for Kimba 1989 Japanese opening, but then the rest of the series is gorgeous orchestral.

I picked up Fire Punch late last night and the first chapter was seriously so kino I had to draw this. I spent like an hour trying to get the perspective of the torso right and I'm still not sure about it.
i drew diego brando from Steel Ball Run as a warm up sketch that became a fun little half baked scrawling. He's loads of fun!
