>anime in realism

how do nips merge anime and realistic settings so well? how do they pull of these backgrounds?
>>
I'm sure it's just one guy spamming these type of topics. Ban OP and everything will be fine.
>>
>>3634733
Go fuck yourself anti anime poster. You don't belong on this site.
>>
>>3634727
Probably just a lot of tracing, nice rendering and putting an anime face on it
>>
>>3634727
I don't know what you're expecting to hear. There's no secret technique to this. You just draw it realistically like you would anything else, and then throw in some bullshit generic anime heads.

Could you really not figure this out on your own? Do you not have functioning eyes & a brain?

Looking at a random background character instead of tits. How gay are you?

phew lad, if it were for you this board would be filled with stick figures and cubes

i wouldnt if OP didnt praise him to the gods by saying "how do they pull of these backgrounds?"

there's more to a background than just a figure you fucking autismo. end yourself

What?
>>
>>3634727
thats a terrible example

but to answer your topic properly is all about mixing the saturation of your cartoons properly.
>>
>>3634788
If the tits are the main point of the picture why would he bother fully rendering background/characters. You clearly know nothing about composition you fucking retard, by your dumb ass logic I guess Craig Mullins is shit too.

I think they just trace over photos. Have you ever seen Steins;Gate? Where they're walking around the city or buying electronics? No one has time to draw all that shit in an animation. If you look closely, I think you will also begin to suspect photo-bashing.

Tracing. ALWAYS tracing.
You´ll never stop tracing, in fact, walk around with a camera to snapshot everything around you so you don´t get caught with internet reference.
Tracing solves sizes, perspective and even anatomy sometimes. It´s a time saver. With phootoshop filters, you don´t even need to draw if it´s just scenario.

>>3634777

Sculpt a dragon out of clay, build a miniature tower, create a scene, shoot it with a camera, trace and add details.

I just taught you art.

i was looking for a shortcut for making backgrounds in comics but- theres no process that doesnt involve putting in the work

making something that looks appealing still requires hard work, patience, and time. your "example" looks like shit because it lacks all of these things

SHARE THE FKIN SECRETS
How to turn a photo, or rather a game screenshot, into a painting? I just need it to look painterly since I want to do many in a short amount of time
>>
>>3637236
Now do the spyro Subway pic
>>
>>3637482
im going to tell you
>take photo
>adjust levels
>put optional filter over it to simplify details further
>spend 3 to 10 hours painting over it

if you dont know what to do when painting over, you may have to do some studies of similar subject matter to get a feel for how it's supposed to look. then learn color theory to find out what makes a scene aesthetic. if you're still lost, study some pieces you find appealing and try making mastercopies. you can also just do masterstudies if you want to learn from the certified pros.

and thats it! the secret shortcut! if you do all of these things, you'll be on your way to fast & easy paintings in 2 to 10 years! :^)
>>
>>3637236
>walk around with a camera to snapshot everything around you so you don´t get caught with internet
i cant tell if youre being an ass or not, but this is really a good thing to practice
however, if you live in the middle of nowhere like me, you'll have to take reference images from google and alter them heavily to avoid copyright infringement (https://fairuse.stanford.edu/2014/12/22/much-photo-need-alter-avoid-copyright-infringement-hint-cheshire-cat/)

having some knowledge of perspective is a great help, if not mandatory for this, so it's not like tracing will 100% free you of having to learn it. it's a time saver, but you'll still have to do the work to make it all come together.

i wish kids would realize sooner that there's no secret shortcut

>>
>>3637540
Without a doubt. Most likely, the artist used some kind of warping or lens distortion effect.
>>
>>3637594
Mclelun's videos would be useful if you had the patience to do it manually.
Damn it, I know a 64 bit photo editor that lets you manually filter backgrounds to paintings in order to properly fake brush strokes.
Was it fotosketcher? Or something different.

There's neural networks that do that now, but you need a beefy computer, tons of image reference and obviously neural network handling knowledge.

This is quite common with modern anime.

Particularly with Makoto Shinkai movies.

People are always blown away by how complex his Backgrounds are, but they don't realize it's often paint-overs of photographs the art team takes.

James Gurney? What are you doing in this thread?
>>
>>3637723
wtf this is literally anime

More pls anon-kun
>>
>>3638263
literally just watch that urasawa no manben episode on inio asano

he spends a lot of time going out into the countryside taking photos so he can remove the midtones and draw additional details on top of em
>>
>>3638271
oh yeah I watched that one, how does he turn his photos into manga bg's/ extracts the lineart though?

If you're familiar with the process
>>
>>3638359
uploading the clip in question to mixtape gimme a sec to render
>>
>>3637914
More people should think outside the box like Gurney did. If you're not using everything to your advantage, you're missing out. 3D, sculpture, etc, everything goes in art. The only thing that matters is the final result.
>>
>>3638359
>>3638370
wait a second the ep is on youtube here you go: https://youtu.be/sV9RKhocKwc?t=822

basically it goes like,
>take images
>convert to monochrome
>remove midtones
>print and add detail
panel by panel
>>
what about the one where she is holding her pussy like a hamburger? is it traced? (they may not be the same artist idk)
>>
>>3637911
Interesting.
It's still some real skill to not fuck it up though.
>>
>drawing backgrounds is literally impossible, they must be traced

only on /ic/. i suppose the entirety of BLAME! is traced too
>>
>>3637911
Talking about Makoto Shinkai.. do you or any of you guys have a screen of the old old old thread where some anon literally posted the story of “your name” ?
>>
>>3638382

The little mechanical devices and scenes that Gurney rigs up blow my mind. I don't know how fast he does that stuff, but he's so prolific, it must be quick.

>>3638423
Obviously, but it's easier to pick out and simplify detail than to render scenes of that complexity from scratch.

>>3639573
Not familiar with this. You've piqued my curiosity.
>>
>>3639573
Don't trip, I got you
A boy falls in love with a girl.
Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC’s own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

Tracing doesn't teach you anything you ignorant faggot. What if I want to draw a spaceship or a fictional city or a cartoon character or a stylised realistic character (eg: superhero)? How will I trace that?
>>
>>3637285
So your shortcut to becoming a master is now way more complicated than just getting a hold of fundamentals and having a reasonable idea of drawing animals.
>>
>>3641893

I don't care if the kitchen just opened or it's late hours, I highly doubt a girl would do this most restaurants have cameras in the cashier area even if this is Japan and they have different laws there's the guy sin the kitchen that could rotate up front at any minute (unless they've seen her tits too which makes her a whore) ruins my immersion man.

on topic why are all these "realistic anime" threads popping up. There are some mangaka and artist that have more semi realistic styles than other but that's all it is, you merge them by making everything consitant, shading and line detail can't change from the subject to those in the background as >>3634771 point out.
