I just draw, try to learn from things and use reference.
I really really wish I could get more help from this board though. Every time I post I feel I’m not given the advice I’m looking for and just get told vague things I already know to pursue like “use reference, loomis”

Anyway I have a specific question now regarding pic related and I don’t think beg will help me out. Top pic, left was a failed render and right is what I went with, bottom pic is artwork I like
Now, there’s a big difference which I think is how much negative space is used. You can see how large she looks and spans across the image, I’m never able to get my anatomy to look this way. Any advice? That artwork is by laserflip

I've never received useful advice from this shitty board. Literally just keep doing what you're doing. Use this board for fun and break time between drawing.

>Anyway I have a specific question now regarding pic related and I don’t think beg will help me out. Top pic, left was a failed render and right is what I went with, bottom pic is artwork I like

Left looks better imo, the dark values on the thighs and hips just need to be corrected. Try lightening the left hip to a slightly darker value than the stomach. Maybe get rid of the dark shadow on the right thigh, or reducing the size to the very edge of the forms.

Not sure what you're asking about the bottom pic. I'd say to just crop your image but I doubt thats what you're asking. I'm afraid you have to clarify.

>>
>>5011060
Yeah left I used darker values, it ended up too muddy and messy for what I wanted, then right became too safe
As for bottom I guess I’m just referring to her proportions. She looks “large” but not in an American fat kind of way, her body just spreads across the whole image nicely without it feeling like it’s busy looking. While my art I feel it looks scrunched, it’d look the same if I just zoom in and crop more, maybe I just need to draw larger and adjust proportions to sort it out

Why do you charge so little for comms nigga? $40 for full body seems cheap, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen shittier artists charge more
>>
>>5010861
youre right, you do sound pathetic AND your artwork sucks
>>
>>5011193
I charge that price for two reasons
I try to be fair with my price compared to my quality which can be inconsistent, I have been raising it slowly over time, plus it being “low” makes it affordable to many people so I can just get more at a time with being generally low for now while I try to improve. Other reason is so that a price increase doesn’t alienate old and returning clients, a 5 dollar increase is more manageable than a 20 dollar one, I have seen /aco/‘s pricing which I kinda don’t agree with but that’s not business anyway. I think some of their prices leads to always having commission slots open honestly

A commission slot filled is better than an empty one though. It boils down to "paid practice"
Someone here once questioned me asking why am I taking commissioms at my skill level. It's about getting mileage in for me right now and being paid 30-80 dollars per commission per piece as a beginner isn't bad at all

Well some of the limbs of your character look stubby and short. Not sure if the images here are cropped or if it is the full image. But this can happen when trying to to fit a character onto a canvas that's too small for them. You force them to fit and things get wonky looking. Not sure if that's what you were asking.
https://youtu.be/38Jg3w14ziM?t=196
Here's an example of something similiar happening to an artist on youtube. At 3:16 she enlarged the canvas to check if perspective of the hat is correct. It wasnt, but she didn't seem to notice. If you fastforward further into the video you'll see she enlarged the canvas and was finally able too see the hat was malformed. I'm almost certain the bottom picture you posted is cropped. Or it was pretty heavily referenced from a real photo. Try to give yourself a bit more room for you illustration. Don't force your character to fit your canvas.

I said american fat since some pudge can look nice if it's rendered well, while american fat deforms the body into a fridge shape
As for the limbs, I never felt like they were too stubby, I think if I made them longer they'd be too long. Maybe just the entire body needs to be larger? I suppose I can try to reference artists work whos proportions I enjoy. As for the face, I like anime eyes but I never like when theyre too large. I really need to learn to do eyes better as well. So much to learn

Just turned 27

Been doodling since I was a kid

Started taking it 'seriously' a couple of years ago. 'Seriously' being that I discovered what fundies were, the idea of thoughtful practice and wilfully dropping more than a handful of hours a week into them.

Latest page of my sketchbook. I don't know how to finish anything. outside the faces I don't know why they don't look 'done' enough to slap on some paint and ink. Why is this problem a thing?

I only started really buckling down a year and a half ago and my art is EXPONENTIALLY better than it ever was.
I was embarrassed to even show it to people before but now I am finally doing socials and commissions worth over $100

Sadly social media stresses me out a fuck ton though. How do you get over it? Every time I lose an Instagram/Twitter follower or 2 I feel a hole of stress in my stomach for hours.
If I open my app I try not to even look at my follower count if I have not gotten notifs that I have gained any since last time I posted. If anyone who gets this nervous about social media and interacting with people could help I would really appreciate it

That's a pretty neat paint over, seems the face i drew is beyond redemption though due to expression. I really had no idea what to do with the hand on the left and well and it's really apparent in a lot of my artwork. Maybe I lack common sense for this kinda thing. The boobs there do look much better, I had a feeling I shouldve abandoned the line art and render a space between her chest

I am on 4chan since late 2006. I grew older too.

I am the 28 year old who posted lugia up there.
I gotta admit I saved some of your works because I’m a tradfag and I fucking hate coloring. I made this a year ago (cover of my ongoing comic, almost finished, maybe next month) and my coloring still fucking sucks. I love inking though.

1. don't do pillow shading
2. you might benefit from studying anime 2-tone or 3-tone shading. Not because it's anime, but because the style lends itself to your markers.
>>
So the speculation that this board is filled with 12 year-olds SEEM to be false, it's just 30 year old losers acting like kids. All of you really deserved to be hurt faggots hahaha.

Did you think all the underage zoomers are going post their ages just so the jannies can nuke them?
>>
>>5012257
this, 4chan is abundant with underage faggots, if you can’t see that from the attitude here and the quality of work posted regularly then you’re ngmi.

Yeah, I haven’t done any this year because I focused all of my time on that comic so I can finish it for once and for all. But after that I’ll look for anime drawings.

Massive cope of mentally retarded adults who failed to fix their lonely lives. I don't buy into that zoomer bullshit, look at the ages above, if you lie about your age you tend to state the boundaries like 18 yo or 19.

>Massive cope of mentally retarded adults who failed to fix their lonely lives.

Why do people on 4chan think everyone else is a lonely sad person? I’m legitimately successful, not everyone you disagree with is a loser
>>
>>5012271
Did you not consider that underage's simply wouldn't post in this thread at all retard?
>>
>>5012271
I am on 4chan since 2007. I was 15-16 back then. And it was not even that well-known of a website unlike today. There must be many more underage b& today.

24. Just decided to get serious the last 2 months but been drawing since I was a kid

Coffee and getting a schedule going helped me tame my ADHD lol. Right now focusing my efforts on construction and style-influences. Hoping to develop a webcomic too. Don't care if no one reads but I wanna have that accomplishment under my belt.

Good luck with all your progress anons, young and old! Hope you all make it in your own way

Drawing as a hobby since 14
Started taking it seriously 2-3 years ago.

This is most recent thing I finished: just something simple. Still some things I need practice with, but I'll get there, and compared to 3 years ago, I've made a lot of progress. Won't say I'm where I want to be yet, but considering where I've been, I'm pretty content with my pace of progress.

Keep drawing, anons. It doesn't get easier; you get better.

>>
>>5012083
Based tableguy, I'm thinking of learning copics because of you.
Any tips on inking?

I have been drawing since I was 7. I began taking lessons at age 11 and stopped at 18. I've been doing a shit ton of practice but my method and inconsistently has caused my art to suffer. I even considered giving up at some point but now at age 20, I'm obsessed with getting better and better.
>>
>>5012368
So rich parents, got it
>>
Time passed since you began drawing seriously =/= Total hours sat down drawing

an odd way to do mental gymnastics, just say that you inherited money and you're too lazy to build on top of that
>>
>>5012255
This is a peaceful thread before you came.
>>
>>5010760
Just about 24, took on drawing as my hobby, area of interest, and social image at 15. I haven't drawn anything in that time of course, but I know more about the topic than anyone else I know, so I'm still the art guy.

I just want to stay at home forever and sustain myself through porn commissions so I can spend the rest of my days playing vidya and cooming at home, but I'm still not good enough yet.
