No matter how many times i try to study this book, i give up every time. The folds just look so autistic like Hogarth is personally trying to make you draw clothes like a huge fag. Am i just Retarded ngmi or is putting 60+ wrinkles on a single fold a beg trap?

hehe he look like swaktika :)
>>
Lots of stuff don't make any sense when you start out. Keep at it, and draw from real life references a lot too.
>>
not op, currently studying this. I'll post progress

I just started, my study plan is simple. Read all text and draw most of the illustrations until I get the point
>>
>>5224463
yeah that's what i try to do, its just that his technique and style is so mindnumbing
>>
>>5224238
I think it is just an exaggeration, kinda like some anatomy books will show the muscles not only hypertrophied, but also as if there was no fat or skin on top of it.

This. The fold drawing is demonstrative and illustrated to prove a point of how it works

i think the idea with hogarth is that he goes so overboard, that if you half-ass his method, it's equivalent to full-assing IRL

hogarth double-asses so your half ass = full ass

Thanks,
Halftone filter, i was experimenting what to use other than opacity to obscure the figure.

If you draw people that are perfectly buff and proportional, you can draw people that aren't. Same for clothes I assume
>>
HI /beg/ here is this book good for learning to draw clothing and fabric? or is there something better for a novice?

that book is dog shit. it is from a time before you could just google wrinkles. there's no way around this, just put a shirt or towel on the back of a chair and draw it.
>>
>>5229032
Yes, it is the best way actually.
>>
only just noticed how much this is a swastika
>>
>>5230263
I don't know what you are talking about, that's a perfectly normal pose, I find myself in that position all the time
>>
>>5224238
Just watch the modern day james video on fabric. Part 2 is all you need imo. Mainly just study from ref, it's easier desu
