>>5320258>Cramming in detail is only a problem when it makes the image hard to readNah, that's not the only case where cramming in detail is a problem. These, even if easy to read, all have this kitsch vibe, because everything is so full of details.
>>5320799Yes lol. I love their art
I wish we had a western study general. I like seeing this stuff about thw west that i usually never see because it's either bean mouth cartoons or capeshit. I like these styles and would like to replicate it and make it my own.Problem is that if a western study general was made it would possibly die really quick.
>>5320850why don't you make a thread and see? it's worth a try
>>5320262talk about sameface
>>5320850just look up western pulp art. My favorites are german and italian pulp art but french and american comes pretty close.
>western art>everything posted is at least 40 years oldDead culture
>>5321166what the fuck is up with those nipples
>>5321166I think we should revive it. Isn't art about stealing and remixing stuff into something completely new? Also don't get me wrong as much as i love anime since it has some very unique styles it's very commonplace. Almost everyone wants to draw anime so sometimes you end up with elements you've seen over and over again. Digging into old art, stealing and remixing different elements with styles you like could make for an unique, interesting style.>>5320863>>5321138Maybe we could combine it with the western art thread so it will live longer. Mix other's studies and post western art?
>>5320817another anon here, I do not agree
>>5320873Only had one model available, probably his wife too as it was common back then.

>>5320295I love him. One of those painters who makes me think "how the fuck did he do that".
>>5323208who did this piece? Love the atmosphere.
>>5323192The period from 1954-1964 was probably the most critical time for Western graphic art at large, since the pulps became superhero books and Walt Disney didn't have a clear heir. The Famous Artists course lasted from 1948 - 2016... the whole three-year instruction program would cost around $3,000 today -- a very competitive price when compared with art school. It's strange that they couldn't even adapt to using the internet, but maybe most people didn't have the tech in the 2010's?
>>5325436Many commercial illustrators died without teaching anyone. In animation, Walt Stanchfied managed to teach numerous animators, such as Brad Bird, John Lasseter, Don Bluth, Joe Ranft, John Musker, Ron Clements, Glen Keane, Andreas Deja, and Mark Henn. 1970's and 80's animation was far more surreal and dark than what had come before, probably being partly influenced by the Postmodernists. There probably wouldn't have been a Disney revival without Stanchfield. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkLZfu_Y92g
>>5319431> Why is a throwaway Cartoon Network ad using characters from their current lineup and not these characters they have no reason to shill which includes ones they don't have the rights to the likenesses Chill out, grandpa. Also> snoopy and woodchuckLol
>>5323192>comicbooks in the west being a pain in the ass to get into with their never changing status quo of superhero stories and stale ideas in the 90s?For me it's this. I never gave a shit about the comic books or the western animation because It was all sterile sanitized and horrifically formulaic. If you seen one superhero you've seen them all. It's the corporate franchise handling that turned the characters into a brand like coca cola. Of course Batman isn't going to get anything done he's been fighting for 60 years already and they intend for him to fight forever. To end the story would be to slaughter the golden goose. and it's all so pointless and shallow. The avengers had my attention for a moment because they actually dared to make the heroes lose and somebody even died. I could not believe it, is this an actual fucking story happening right there? a real writing? Then Endgame is like SIKE NOBODY DIED EVERYTHINGS FINEYeah it was the first and the last time I consciously engaged with the western media. Almost tricked me.
>>5321166>dead culture >uses anime image that represents 90% of Asian art: same face, proportions, line work, composition, color; only minor adjustmentsold western art is still unchallenged
>>5325477Honestly, I think japanese pulp art is on par with western pulp art
>>5325470>The avengers had my attention for a moment because they actually dared to make the heroes lose and somebody even died. I could not believe it, is this an actual fucking story happening right there? a real writing? Then Endgame is like SIKE NOBODY DIED EVERYTHINGS FINEit's called an arc, they'll reset everything with new actors and say it's a alternative timeline like the X-men movies done
>>5325604that’s part of the reason why western comics are so bad though. As long as they’re profitable, they aren’t allowed to end. The east doesn’t really have that problem aside from boruto and dragon ball.
>>5325610of course the east has that problem, most manga are designed to go on as long as possible until the readers start dwindling and it gets axed
>>5325604>it's called an arc,It's called a fucking reset and the resets are the single cheapest shit a writer could possibly pull. An Arc would be the Avengers getting their ass kicked for once and then dealing with the fallout, dealing with consequences, fixing what's left of the world after Thanos actually won and fucked off and Tony Stark having to explain what happened to Mary Jane at the symbolic funeral they hold for the Peter Parker's empty coffin. THAT is an arc. That's the least you should expect from any normal storyteller.
>>5325619The TOP selling manga Kimetsu No Yaiba ended after 4 years of run. At it's peak it outsold One Piss and everything ever. The anime and merch were shoveling money but the author had the balls to actually conclude the story rather than turn it into an endless aimless meaningless abomination. Mob psycho was hugely popular and also ended well, it's actually the norm rather than exception. There's a lot of actual real stories being told. Resets, timelines and maintaining the status quo is the kind of corporate bullshit that completely devalues the story and it's the reason the capeshit comics are fucking worthless and dead. Who wants to read the story if you know exactly what's going to happen just from looking at the cover? Yeah yeah the good guys win the bad guys escape to be back next week and if anybody died they will be back just fine.
>>5325619>>5325647Oh yeah and I heard the titans just ended too. It was a massive franchise and it just ended, there are no resets, no timelines and the dead people don't come back. The author is going to write something else rather than turn it into a franchise that spans 100 years and 300 different writers with no general direction or core story.
>>5319431>>5319568Keep up faggots
>>5319201I love this.
>>5325610>what is saint seyia Neverending franchise nip shit comes mostly in form of games at least, also a lot of kiddie media for some reason (sazae san being published for 70 years)

>>5321166well yes, the west manages to shit on arts and crafts since the 90s nobody is doing it anymore. Can't put bread on table with today's market conditions. However there are artists like Enki Bilal that haven't stopped producing excellent works, but he's mostly famous in France since they love comic book culture.
>>5343256French and Italian Comics are pretty good. They are kinda underrated but it's understandable since they don't bother translating them to English.
