IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice.

Use this thread instead of making new threads or post in the Drawthread with fundamental exercises.

POST DRAWINGS YOU NEED HELP WITH.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS using one of the following methods:
1. screenshot the image and post that instead
2. change camera capture settings to something smaller
3. send to computer and resize in picresize.com

Working on drawing circles, while following Brent Evistons class. I think i've got the drawing lightly thing figured out but my circles kinda come out bad. Its like every time I rotate my shoulder the circle comes out a different way than i intended it. Its like I have no control and I dont feel like im anywhere close to gaining it.

>>
>>5321713
I was having a hard time on traditional and just understood what Loomis said, the circles dont need to be perfect, just solid enough where you can build a head from, after all that circle will be gone by the end of the drawing
>>
>>5321694
>basic landmarks
that's like asking if being a good person will grant you happiness or a good life, knowing landmarks is just the very beginning, and they won't carry you even through the mid begtier stuff, for example knowing that the body should be around 8 heads, okay what if your angle has the head size different from what it should be what if the head is hidden or you are foreshortening, see that's what i mean, basically the more you know the better, i don't think you need to memorie every muscle to draw something that doesn't look awful but your current idea of what could be enough is not remotely realistic

lots of transparent circles of varying opacity with white outlines/gradient fogginess to represent the angle changing and becoming more opaque (kind of like why the atmosphere is different looking in the distance vs just above)

But to point out a few mistakes:
The shadow in the forehead makes it look like the hat is loose, which is not the case since it is applying pressure to the hair on the sides
You didn't connect the neck with the upper body and the cloth is not taking the shape of the shoulders properly
The hand implied underneath the cloth is good but you should imply the arm as well, otherwise it just looks flat
Eyes are a bit too big for my liking as well and the tips of the eyelashes are too round

In your case, medication. Sounds like you have mental health issues if you legit punch yourself over something so trivial.
>>
>>5322225
No one has to see all the garbage you draw, just remember that you grind to look like a god when the time comes to show the world. It's easy to get frustrated, take a break, clear your mind, then when you're ready come back and do some easy studies.
>>
>>5322245
Not really an option unfortunately, I'm kind of on my own as far as anything health related goes. I just have to live with my pain, and sadly that includes the abuse.

that's fine, you're witnessing your own growth, as ugly as it is sometimes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7JG63IuaWs
>>
>>5322263
If anything I'm witnessing my own deterioration. I used to be able to do full full figures, with rendering and color, and have it all look pretty good.

I put it away for a while, and now I can't even figure out the basic forms of the torso. It doesn't make any sense. I'm better than this. What happened to all those hours I grinded out before? Why do I suck so much more now than I ever have before?
>>
>>5322276
I've felt this way many times before, you'll get over it in time. You probably haven't gotten worse, this is a psychological problem.
>>
>>5322280
Honestly, everyone says not to compare yourself to others, but no one mentions how painful it can be to compare yourself to your past self. Stop improving for just one second, and you risk falling into a pit of shame you can never escape from.

How can you forgive yourself for all the time you wasted not drawing? How do you cope with the fact that the years are just passing you by, and you have progressively less and less to show for it? I need to be good, at least as good as I was, otherwise I'm nothing. I have nothing. I've lived an empty life, and I can't allow myself to be bad at the one thing that used to bring me joy, even if it only brings pain right now.

There isn’t a single critique that will help you, unfortunately. Everything is bad.

I think you should aim to do 20 of these every single day for a month before you come back. Spend at least 15 minutes on each study. Once you do that, pick up an art instruction book and very carefully and thoroughly study it

I actually like your style and I think you have potential, keep drawing! Remember that shadows just as everything else need structure. Look closely at them: there's a point where they're darker until they start going to their lightest shade. Don't abuse the smudging technique and try to use more pencils to render your drawing. To pull off this style you should have at least: H, 2B, 4B and 8B. Keep going, bro, you have potential!

Can a perspectivechad help me with this? Horizon line is very low but all vertical lines are converging upwards, so I guess this is 3 point perspective? But if that's so where the hell are the VP's on the horizon line? Horizontals don't seem to be converging anywhere.
>>
>>5323368
But then again I now notice that since it's not a corner of a building I don't know if it's really a 3 point perspective. But if it isn't then can the VP be above the horizon line? Or am I wrong with assuming the horizon line is at the bottom?

I'm no expert, but if I had to say, it looks like you're putting down lines without really knowing why they should be where they are. Also your linework needs some serious work (aka: make sure you can draw lines, curves and S shaped curves before actually drawing anything). Also, are you using the mouse to draw? You might want to invest in a drawing tablet. As a side note, you can also try using a stabilizer/some kind of smoothing, assuming the software you're drawing on has that.

Anyone has tips on balancing the studying and practise ratio?

Let's say I make 10 pages of heads from fun with a pencil, how many heads should I try to do on my own?.

I drew Michael Hampton gesture drawings of the first chapter, how many should I do from Line of action?

I'm doing Vilppu dynamic drawing videos but not sure if it's effective unless I try sme different from myself.

I like drawabox because they specifically tell you no to grind and just do the stuff they tell you to do, but when I'm alone and I can't do something right I don't know to discern between lack of practise or lack of knowledge, most of the time I'm reading books and doing tutorials, but when I'm alone I freeze and I just make a bunch of disasters, any recommendations?

Kek don't start this blaming brain disease shit. Reality is that your visual library is very small because you are a beginner and this goes for almost every other beginner on earth.
