Line arts done, maybe I'll color it if this fever doesn't kill me

>>5726518
That line down the middle of his face makes it look like a mask. Besides that the line art on certain parts of the body where the fur is short gives it a "felt costume" sort of feel
>>5725336

I don't mind the filter on the panels themselves but the distortion messing with the panel shape I don't like so much
It's giving them rounded corners and that purplish line around the inside that doesn't look that good imo

The body you put looks totally flat. You can’t just take a rectangular prism and throw washboard abs on him. I would strongly suggest with hard poses like this that you use yourself or another as a reference.
>>
>>5726596
the charcters are sort of blending together on this, I recommend adding some textural space to differentiate them cus right now it's looking like some sort of lovecraftian fishblob-=maybe more of that hard black shading you did for the jaw would help.

Also, the center arms are weird and I have no clue what's attached to who. how thin are they?

what makes a smile unnerving
i want to get good at drawing genuine happy smiles, but i want also want to be able to do off-beat ones that don't fit a happy mood, like punpun's
i think picrel probably probably leans more to a genuine smile though i'm not sure what i was going for. i think it has to do with the eyes (tilt, how open they are, being glazed over etc) but i need to look at more refs
>>
>>5727455

that's definitely a creep smile. focus on the entire face, not just the mouth. eyes and eyebrows
>>
>>5728365
seconding.
>>5728604
eyes/eyebrows, corner cheek creases, forehead brow all play subtle but critical roles in the perfect creep smile. the style of teeth you choose can help as well, but it doesn't have as big an impact as the areas already mentioned.
>>
>>5728365
As these anons mention >>5728604,
>>5728863,
I would like to add that the angle you choose can also impact the feeling. Since the viewer is looking up, the animal may look more powerful and menacing. Albeit, the face is what's really important but I thought this might help explain the creepiness a bit. Cute little guy though.

the thumbnail of this looks amazing, but opening up into full size it looks really unappealing. the torso/stomach area, the fingers, shape of facial features are all just so stiff and unflowing. how do I get started with commissions, any resources out there?
any pointers or advice?
>>
trying to draw the face a bit different, think all my recent ones are too blobby

>>5730522
i think i said something before but ime
the best places to get started with comms
>discord
theirs a lot of public servers for furries, i would hop on and they would have an art channel to pyw, you dont need to explicitly state theyre for commissions. i got a steady amount (2-3/day) from just hopping onto a vc and streaming while i draw, people passing by channels can more easily pick you out and people really like seeing the work done live
>hobby communities
you dont have to do porn but a lot of serial comms have been from gun folks or ff14 players who want to see their character in a certain getup, itd be easier to start with your own hobbies if you have any, ive gotten some done for music folks from a single drawing i did back in february which was cool.
people are a lot more on your case for these groups though, get practice drawing props or just learn clip studio modeler/blender and trace them
>furaffinity/ any other social media
probably hardest (i put FA before anything else since if youre starting from 0 followers the front page is basically a constantly updating feed) but if you have followers anywhere else that'll proibably be easier

>pricing
id aim for the hourly rate x avewreage hours for a piece
i was first doing fullbodies for $35 because my original price i set for myself was $10/hr x 3 (+5 because id consider in the time to message the commissioner/find references in) and would increase my prices by increasing the hourly rate (roudning to the nearest 5)
if youre more strapped for cash you can go nsfw or even ask friends if they'd like commissions but if pic is your art youre a lot better than me and i did fine

also dont start by accepting more than 1 commission at a time if youre not 100% ready for it, easier to say "ill let you known when im opePHJ0Hn" than getting anxiety from a 2+ queue
>>
>>5730716
Thanks fot the advice anon, specially the ones about the commission queue

> if pic is your art youre a lot better than me

>>
>>5730716
>easier to say "ill let you known when im opePHJ0Hn"
that's not very easy to say
>>
>>5731428
>>5731493
yeah, if you do want to get into the habit of taking multiple comms at once, it helps to make a trello, even if its only for yourself yoau can easily sort and attach files to each cell

its not easy but im a childbrain with anxiety and easier say not atm than overwhelm myself
also lol to me misputting captcha in there
>>

The dragon's head is working well I think, it's just that the perspective is a little off here and there. If you look at the relationship between the tip of the horns, the ears, and the snout, the perspective doesn't quite add up. they're all fairly small adjustments, so you might be able to get away with highlighting one area and moving the lines around instead of having to redraw a bunch.
Another small thing which might just come down to personal taste or design is that I think the jaw is a little bit too far forward... it sort of looks like she has an underbite. I maybe overdid it in my redline, but bringing it back a bit might help the face look more appealing. The head also looks a little small compared to the rest of her body and the guy she's on top of.
As for the background... I'm not too sure, maybe obscuring it mostly in shadow would help. There could be dim torches in the dark to help imply where the rimlight is coming from

Someone who has right wing views or finds edgy jokes funny isn't the same as an attention-seeking LARPer.
Even if we were talking about LARPers, the points still stand because nobody gives a shit about commies despite their ideology having a higher body count and their terror groups being an actual threat. They're both autistic, but one side is definitely more tolerated than the other.

>don't know what a Liberal is
I'm the second guy you quoted. Most people do talk about progressives when they talk about Liberals, but some people refer to classical liberals. They argue (like in the vid I posted earlier) that the root of the "progressive" problem goes as far back as Classical Liberalism and The Enlightenment because Classical Liberalism's values set the stage for progressivism:

visualize the objects as 3D forms and project them onto the page

Thanks for the feedback. Specially with the rework. I got tired of it halfway through and just pushed it to the end line.

I've always thought that soft shading was better than hard shades, though. Is it just a preference thing or is it a given? I'm quite new to drawing and have been doing it for six-ish months. That being said, the re-work looks way better, but that might be because I'm not really good.

Anyways, here's another one I finished yesterday.

>Is it just a preference thing or is it a given
one answer, all approaches to art are 100% preference
another answer - realistically, youd use both if youd want to create "good" illustrations, but i think thats a skill that needs to be developed over time, but i feel like if youre only going to stick with one, hard (cell) shading looks a lot more modern and cleaner looking, and helps prevent drawings from looking "old" or "dirty", but always keep the first answer as your biggest priority unless youre specifically trying to achieve something different.

> I'm quite new to drawing and have been doing it for six-ish months
pretty good progress for the time, you have a good feeling of muscles and your stylization is good - i think the biggest thing you need to work on is using perspective to build up scenes properly and ofc anatomy

>>
>>5745148
>>5745149
how do you do it like that
>>
>>5745169
use ref and practice i guess, this level isnt something to really strive for
As I learned recently good painting is just good composition which is just high visual contrast where you want the viewer's eye to be, and low visual contrast where you dont want them to focus
the actual act of painting is just making contrast, you can do this in any way you want as long as it works, it's where creativity is most applicable
contrast thru shapes, values, colors, level of finish, edges, placement of certain elements in relation to others, color temperature etc.
once u realize this principle it's just practice until u can juggle everyrthing at once which is what I'm trying to do

just dl Marco Bucci's cgma course on painting light and color off CGPeers, its all u need to have the necessary epiphanies i think, aside from practice

don't sell yourself short, it's pleasing to look at, you just need to spend a little more time refining your strokes and making more of an interplay between soft/hard edges. buddy, this is good.

i guess it goes without saying but it always falls on the student to go the extra mile, study life and other artists' work out of curiosity to see what makes it all work, so they can ultimately draw their own conclusions. u have to actively extract what useful info u can out of every resource you look at

furries have a high demand for art on an individual level and are thus very willing to pay for it. A good chunk of furries are either consumers or producers of furry art or even both. So what are some popular furry artists on social media? Specifically those who draw kemono or a more anime-ish style.

in terms of proportion, the upper arms are too short if theyre supposed to be directly parallel with the body. The forearms are fine for the most part, however.

This is not good but it’s not as bad as I thought it was. I invested too much time to it so may as well finish it instead of redoing it. Should also mention that this is part of a comic I’m working on.

Considering he said he's worse than that anon, he probably just shits out 20 bad 50 dollar comms a month. Assuming he's not lying anyway. That's actually pretty decent considering I know artists who charge 200 for a comm but it takes them a whole week

A WIP. I wish there was more time in a day. Won't be long until I have to go to sleep. But I'm not even tired. But I have work tomorrow. If there was more time in a day, I'd probably have to work those too. Reality isn't fair :(

To be fair bara body type is hard to pull off on the face and faces are hard in general.

His left eye is lower than the other one, mouth line doesn't look good when it's perfectly parallel to the chin line (move the belly of that curve a bit forward maybe? It would also give his jaw a bit slimmer look), IMO lines showing his Adams apple are too thick - I'd draw them more like ones you used for his neck muscles, he could use some furry texture on the back of his face, fur inside his ear looks a bit repetitive - could you make it the same way you did fur on his cheek? And I dislike colors used for BG, but that's just picking.

Other than that it's a pretty good pic.
>>
>>5759630
>>5761986
Actually I think your perspective is wonky as well - chin is dropping one way too much, eyes the other and nose is straight. That distorts his features.

I'm still a beg, but would you like a redline?

>It unfortunately doesn't have many historians or philosophers, it has mean cynical people who shit on everything since they think that they're better than everyone.
Not quite, the problem is that Twitter went sick in the head just as they got a lot of political sway.

>it has mean cynical people who shit on everything since they think that they're better than everyone. People don't like those bad vibes so they tune out.
Also you're describing an election tourist. They're the ones who got us into this situation.

By the way, in future just say "oh shut up and get replaced already".
Conservatives don't think, they feel. The fewer concepts you bring up at once the more it will get through to them.

/Dad/ isn't strictly for furries, but there's plenty of them there, enough to make any furry feel welcomed. Check it out.
Just a warning though: since it's centered around drawing every day you won't be able to comment or join discord before showing if you're a hard worker.

>>5764911
Work on line weight, everything line-wise is very inconsistent. Hands are a little wonky and so is the waist/pelvis area. Color choices clash a bit, and could be adjusted. Face is cute. Cute animu faces and big boobas can only go to far, however.
It's a decent start.
