To the schizo who has his tulpas turn back against him. Dude. If even your own creations look down at you then it means you must have spent most of your life getting humiliated and disregarded by everyone around you. In order to gain back control of your life, start regaining it in your mind. Read the Art of War, it is the one and only self-help book that has ever helped people.

I liked the idea of it oozing into a sort of polygonal surface. somewhere between water and molten glass. going to refine it a bit more and maybe do a mix of greyscale and colour or something.

Yeah. Brandon is (was?) the self-proclaimed Ice King And he is next level full of himself. Full enough to roll carpet for himself.

The idea was that the carpet is on snow, but I don't think I got the feeling right.

Maybe next time.
>>

How's that? I think I might sit down and work on the BG a little more. But not now.

Instead, I have a question for /fag/:
How do you guys feel about progress, talent and how is it expressed? When I first came to /ic/ I thought the permabeg conundrum was just a meme until I saw the stack of a guy drawing for five years that amounted to piles of drawings and it still being pretty meh and with little to no progress across years. What gives?

On the other hand I've only picked drawing back in October and my art has made heaps of progress and I dare say it looks better than the 80% of /beg/. And that's when I account only for ink alone.

I'm not bragging, I am surprised. I don't think I am particularly talented and I have made progress I thought it wouldn't be possible for at least two years and I'd thought it would take like five years to get good lineart, yet I feel like I could make as a line artist for a comic book. What gives?

For one, I think I obviously have better help at my disposal, with /fag/ being so enthusiastic about furry art in general and it's general friendliness. The same friendliness encourages people to post despite the level of effort and skill. I have yet to see someone laugh to crab at somebody's art here for being bad like it happens on /beg/ like this: >>5837704

So while the weebs and normies laugh and crab at each, we genuinely support each other. This is important because doing something while being stressed ruins any attempt of reaching flow state. It's also bad for /beg/s because they only ever attempt something "safe" and never attempt something wild that could help them with a breakthrough. I know I've been doing a lot of experimenting and it has been helping me a lot. In this piece I messed with wireframing, airbrush and stamps a lot.

As such, the first part of "talent", progress and "making it" seems to be related to community. And for that, I'd like to thank you /fag/gots for the support. You are all good friends.

Another part is something another anon posted in a thread about talent: artistic eye. The interest and the skill to look at things and see how they could be drawn. For example, after watching Proko's video on painting skin, I've started to notice purple and green shadows everywhere, like pic related. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi62WC9LqZA

/3/ seems to have the same mindset: >>>/3/863318

Because most of /beg/ seems to not develop this skill, they symbol draw a lot, even when using references.

TL;DR: talent is a combination of good feedback, experimentation and a trained eye to read forms. What are (You)r thoughts?

I stopped being petty about skill levels a long time ago. One time during art school I told one of my classmates that their art sucks. It is to this day one of my biggest regrets. Telling someone their art sucks doesn't help anybody.

For me it's all about making an effort to improve and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals. I am fortunate to have befriended several artists varying from /beg/ to popufurs who have spurred me on to become better, either through words, productivity or sheer charisma. I fully accept that any weaknesses I have are simply a result of not having worked on them, and that any artist who is better than me is because they worked on their own flaws. More importantly, I have friends I can turn to whenever I need help and vise versa. I'm not alone. You're not alone. We're all in this together, it was never a contest.

If you know where you stand, you know where you need to go. Doing proper practice and going out of your safe zone will get you there faster. Those with "talent" are just people who are ahead of you. That's it. With time and effort, you can get there too.

Well, how are you olanning on telling the reader about the worldbuilding?

Is it mostly in dialogue or drawn into the backgrounds?

You can always expand the worldbuilding as the project progresses, you only need a certain amount of information to actually start working on the story.
>>
>>5839533

>>5839683
thanks! and yeah she was meant to be a dog oops. i think the more square snout and nose shape makes her look bear-shaped, plus the thick body type. i gotta work on my faces.
>>
>>5839796
Well you clearly went for a kemono-kawaii style, and it looks pretty well and nicely self contained. I'd only give a bit more of geometry to the muzzle area so it looks a bit more anthro, and the "w" shaped area between nose and lips to further this effect. Other than that its a sweet cute drawing.
Now, may I ask what her armpits smell like?
>>
>>5838012
i've now read the art of war. while i now have a better understanding of military strategy, i do not think it helped in self improvement. did i take it too literally? i am probably too retarded to understand the true meaning of it.
>>
>>5839826
Holy shit you're an indoctrinated piece of shit. I'm gonna break it down to you. Life is about fucking other people up to avoid getting yourself fucked. If you can't see this, then it reinforces what I told you in the first post, that you must have already endured most of your life being abused by others, and by this point you're just so used to the abuse that even your brain internalizes the abuse and thinks it is the right thing.
Well, here I offer you two options: either live on while having other people's boot over your face, or you become strong and analytical and get ready to start winning the chess war against them. At this point even your mind has been conquered so, let this be the first step: create a tulpa, and have that tulpa be someone who cares about you, so that it motivates you to move on and start fighting back.

The new tulpa is gonna know that you are broken from the inside out, and this new tulpa WANTS to fix you. His/her mission in life is to fix you. And you, you want them to be happy right? In order to make your tulpa happy, you'll have to fix yourself. Live for your tulpa's wish.
>>
>>5839880
Milk and honey huh?
Also, check pic related. By just adding a few lines, and increasing the width of the jaw a little bit, you can achieve 100% anthro looks, just let the viewer feel a little bit more the muzzle. Unless your idea from start was to just go for "nekomimi" looks.

This is probably autistic and semantic, but doesn't what you're telling him to use as motivation disprove that there's value in abusing others? It'd be good enough on its own then, wouldn't it? Or more than that, why exactly would it be ok to do but not receive?
Basically, specifically, why not "Become strong so you can do better" instead?

try thinking about the character's underlying body and anatomy under the clothes before rushing onto them
what kind of body were you going for? you could've looked for reference about it to make sure it doesn't end up too wonky. the most justifying thing to say is you were trying to draw an anthro munchkin lol

Who else has real "tulpas"? I don't like the word tulpa, as it makes me cringe but, I have those myself. Two furry females and one furry male. They're my only friends. I talk to them in my thoughts, and they're basically the only emotional reliance I have. I want to take a step further and draw them.

One OC of mine has manifested itself, but they're more like a cartoon character than a furry character (probably for the best). They nag at me to be more productive with "proper art" that could get me a job somewhere and they aren't happy about me drawing furry stuff but admit that it's better than doing nothing. I don't talk to them too much, usually during the moments in bed before I fall asleep. Ultimately we are on good relations and they often help me out when I need to destress or relax after a tough day or heated internet argument

Another OC is close to manifesting and I am very frightened by the thought because this one would absolutely fuck my shit up like all those /x/ copypastas. Don't stick your brain in crazy!

>>

You seem to be one of the many newfag tourists that thinks "bro i'm on 4chan i can be all edgy and shitposty i'm totally not a NORMIE (even though only normies call others normies) AND i'm in a furry thread too so I can be extra crazy and autistic ontop of all this" but no, that's not how things roll here.
Of course there's times to try and liven things up for laughs and whatnot but you seem to be genuinely autistic and not understand social cues/when to stop/contain yourself. The thread already been moved on from the armpit bit so now you're just making things extremely awkward. Again, just drop it and stop man, you're the only one in the wrong here.
>>
>>5842925
>What do you know about me?
That you are a normie. That's what I know about you.
>>5842937
You wrote a lot of words only to end up saying nothing, I think the only autistic one here is you. You've never been to a furry place, they talk about fetishes 24/7 non stop, you don't realize this because you're a filthy normie.
>>
>>5842957
Post some art you're working on or shut the fuck up please.
>>

>>
>>5842992
not him, but why do you care if he's a normie so much?
>>
>>5842994
Because those two normies started flinging shit just because I made a question directed at an artist that posted in the previous thread, they are normies because only normies get mad at such questions getting asked.
>>
I can't believe the armpit smellposting is causing such a .. stink

Why do amerilards use this insult without even knowing what it means? Those who are atually autistic cannot tell real beauty from horrible works, and they often don't care about subtleties such as scents, go grab a fucking dictionary amerilard
>harasses artists to participate in his fetish
Making things up. I was not the one who requested the artist to draw those poses, it was the Nanachi poster, all I'm asking from the artist is to answer a question, to ask such things is vastly common in furry sites, something you would know if you weren't a filthy normie tourist.

One, that she is an anime school girl with the head of the Zootopia fox.
And the other is that she had a rough day given the state of her clothes.

Dunno make it a 2 piece set for long muzzles but since i dont know about this i ignore if it would compromise the protection.
For short muzzles doesnt seem like a difficult to keep it one piece. Of course then if the metal gets deformed it would really harm the wearer and even make it impossible to take out without surgery.

>Another part is something another anon posted in a thread about talent: artistic eye.
I've long held that art is 90% thinking and perceiving things in a different way, and 10% the act of moving a pencil. And that movement is mostly in the experimentation you talked about, putting those techniques in your head to use and seeing what works.

Learning to break things down into basic shapes (and reconstruct them), manipulating the viewer's experience through composition and lines of action, understanding that a shadow is not just black, etc. These are all things that occur in your head.
>>
>>5844859
I feel like almost no artist holds the belief that drawing is about manual dexterity, you ll quickly find it's basically all mental
>>
>>5844866
Oh for sure, it's something you learn very quickly as you're getting into it, but I think it's the kind of understanding that people outside of art simply don't realise. So if you're just starting, it can be eye-opening.

for technical work, Williams' Animator's Survival Kit is a great place to start. most of the book is walkcycles, but you can jump around to whichever part interests you.
here's what Williams has to say about expression changes, a fun exercise that could apply to your test.
i would also say that animation is not for the lazy artist, i think you should get into the habit of redrawing each frame entirely instead of just the ears and facial features like you've done here
>>
>>5845825
Bagi predated the internet, so she didn't get the same kind of viral millennial spread as stuff like Digimon, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, etc. And unlike those franchises, she's just a single character from a single movie that didn't get any international presence; I don't think her movie's ever had an official English release. Still, she did get some love from the earlier kemono artists like Dr. Comet.

Generally, older and especially pre-internet things tend not to get a lot of porn. You don't see a ton of Omaha the Cat Dancer fanart for the same reason.
>>
>>5846559
excellent. i will definitely check out that book and utilize it, as the next thing i am planning on doing is a walk cycle.

Since you're the artist, do you mind if I ask, what do her armpits smell like?
>>
>>5847743
As I am not the character owner I cannot say with certainty but they probably smell like someone who bathes properly and just showered
>>
>>5847746
don't even give the retard attention please
>>
>>5847746
Hmm. Interesting. By chance, did you use CSP? If so, in what mode were the layers for the highlights?
>>
>>5847748
Stfu normie, we adults are having a discussion, you can go back to /v/ now

Procreate

The base shadows use a multiply layer and pretty much all the other rendering was done manually on a normal layer, using a lot of eyedropping to get the right colors. The background uses a big gradient overlay and the "godrays" or whatever they're called are gradients on an add layer
>>
>>5847773
A gradient overlay huh? CSP also has this. I really like the painting style you used there, it provides really warm looking colors and a lot of harmony.
>>
>>5847782
When I say "Gradient overlay" what I mean is I make a hard color-to-transparant gradient box and set the layer to overlay. It's that simple. If it's for a character I use a clipping layer or just remove the excess part so the gradient doesn't bleed everywhere. I use em a lot because it's a cheap way to add variety in shades. And thank you!
>>
>>5847788
Handmade gradients have the most soul, its a based choice of yours to have done so.

Man I dunno what to say that hasn't been said. Figures and studies bumped up my art game. Whenever I can't draw anything good I draw something bad and it usually makes me feel better. It's ok to do shitty doodles every now and then. Doodles are fun.
>>
>>5847818
Did you get hiroshimoot'd or did you really save that image as that?

Musky licorice and vanilla. And she's proud of it. Very sultry.

>Musky licorice and vanilla. And she's proud of it. Very sultry.
That's a hot proposal, but the actual artist responded me above and even was kind enough to share some of his knowledge with me. Still, thanks for trying anon furfellow.

>>5848061
You know I'm right. I am right about the rabbit, too. You can smell them.
>>
>>5848097
Hmm. Possibly. There's a possibility that you are right. What can you tell me about this one? >>5846308 , how would her armpits smell like?
>>
I am getting recalled into the army and this is my last day here. This means that I cannot make the next thread or any of the ones after it. Perhaps the coward who failed to turn up in Bajca Utca can make the next thread. Fuck you.

Good luck on your voyage, godspeed soldier.
I'll make sure to start a new thread once this one hits past 300. Is there any particular drawing from the ones posted here you'd like me to create the new thread with?
I'll also make sure to humiliate that crab once again, I know I made him butthurt because he took down two of my drawings.

Godspeed my good man

no actual idea where to post my stuff since there is no /beg/ up and i refuse to post in the tranny surrogate so here i go.
Tell me if i did any mistakes and also any tips for better photo quality are highly appreciated!

>i refuse to post in the tranny surrogate so here i go
Dangerously based
Also your stuff is pretty good. The lines are harmonic. The body has a nice solid feeling to it. The boobs are weighted, there is a small perspective/proportion issue with the shoulders in the last panel but who cares, everything is overall hot.
As for the head design, I guess you were aiming for something like Dorohedoro right? Not my cup of tea but, still looks pretty imposing and cool. I'd say, just give it more realistic lizard teeth if you want, let the fangs be a bit more hooked, and the other teeth a little smaller, while keeping the molars thicker and somewhat less sharp.
Now, obligatory question, what do her armpits smelled like before the shower? I'm curious~

You should post here more, anon. This is good, though the ovals you drew on the second drawing look particularly bad. Try practicing them more in one clean stroke
>>
>>5848163
Why all furries are in the military?
>>
>>5848213
>Try practicing them more in one clean stroke
Or just use a compass or a ruler from drawing software
>>
>>5848214
More like in the navy, if you know what I mean
>>
>>5848213
The weights were meant to look like shit because this is a character i designed and dressed in Kenshi which is a post-apo sims with combat. I have a knack for lizards and so with the power of modded armor I created this monstrosity out of one of the vanilla races then did a some quick sketches while being half-asleep. Also thighs 'n ass superiority 4lyfe.

>>5848182
Someone hand this idiot a copy of Fun with a pencil. Your art lacks proper proportions and anatomy, start with the fundies and come back in 1 year. Go through all of the Loomis books, ffs

So this was for a roleplay thing?
