I NEED ANATOMY HELP
>>5848196anatomy for sculptors and/or morpho books.
No clue about where to post so i will post here aswell. Tell me what should i practice more and HOW DO I MAKE DECENT PICTURES OF MY TRADFAG PAPER SHEETS.
>>5848229I aint a furfag tho so might have fucked some anatomy, I just like something more exotic from time to time.
>>5848233>typical westoid tastesngmi
>>5848229Use a crocodile head as reference first and foremost, or a kommodo dragon, the head is an extreme eyesore. Ik what you are attempting to do, but it reads as odd, especially the really thin lower jaw, take some pointers from crocs and incorporate it into the head design, also the odd feathers/spikes, you could have them as tendrils or a pony tail of hair in the back sticking out as well. You definitely have a decent good start on anatomy, also, work on the feet a little more and incorporate/synthesize human/reptilian designs for the little features a little better. Same with the tail, can't tell which side is upside-right with regards to the tail end, again, use reference, croc, iguana, kommodo dragon, monitor lizard, etc. But still nice job regardless. Your strongest image is the weight lifting one, coposition and technical skill wise.>Tell me what should i practice moreTorso, breasts, alternative heads (study the skulls and fleshed heads of animals, notably reptiles), feet (both human and reptile, maybe avian too), values.>HOW DO I MAKE DECENT PICTURES OF MY TRADFAG PAPER SHEETS.Not sure honestly, I switched to digital because I like to mess with color without the mess. But I still draw traditionally myself from time to time. I believe there are some resources out there, sadly I don't have them off the top of my head, sorry. Nice job though, keep drawing what you like.
>>5848236Guess ill just fuck off to somewhere else and make it without your pessimistic ass.
>>5848292Am I symbol drawing?
>>5848297No, I think you're actually observing the reference
>>5848303Which one? I looked at the reference.
>>5848305Ok good, so I conquered symbol drawing.
>>5848306The bottom one, especially the eyes n mouth
>>5848308But that's my best oneLooks most like the reference

How do you guys turn a cylinder in perspective? Does a smaller elipse on one side means it is turning away or towards you?
>>5848315put it in a boxthen turn the box
>>5848315the closer an object is to the view point the bigger it seem to be and vice versa
Anyone have any nice background textures to sketch on in photoshop?
I'm using a 4B pencil. Can someone tell me how to draw in 3D with this?
>>5848178>My Piyomon made it as OP's image
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KCN7i229JMis this guy legit?
>>5848344>I'm using a 4B pencilA beginner shouldn't be using a 4B pencil, you don't have the control in your strokes just yet.>Can someone tell me how to draw in 3D with this?I have no clue what do you mean. Are you trying to say you want your drawing to look realistic? As far as I can tell you don't have any fundamentals, you don't understand how shapes work. You need to work on simpler shapes in my opinion to get a grasp of "3D".
>>5848361I want to draw photorealistic like this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vp87JsdAzEWhat pencil should I be using then?I have 1 year of fundies under my belt.
Debating on whether or not I should grind these last 20 loomis heads in fwap or just move onto the section about how to draw bodies/gesture
Have my strokes improved?

>>5848377I don't know what this is, but it's pretty good. "Anime skull" is kind of fuckin with me, but it's definitely correct.Could you shine some light on what eyes you consider good, and why? For some it's pretty obvious but others are more subtle.

>>5848383I have nothing to do so I just copy "Kind Drawing"
>>5847842Okay I finally came back. My day 1 drawings are on the left as you might suggest. I still don't know how to render tho.
>>5848385While not from that drawing, I found an example of one of my plane and wedges before I actually start drawing the full head. What is it that I'm doing wrong with them?

>>5848396the eyebrow line is too high, it doesn't divide the sphere in 2, and doesn't follow the contour of the sliced spherewhen practicing show the other side of the sliced sphere, draw through the form
>>5848365Well do you realize he was using a combination of pencils right? 4B is good for darker values, 2H and 4H for lighter values and sketching and an eraser for highlights and blending.I don't think you should be using anything but a 2HB until you get better at drawing otherwise you'll be wasting money on resources you don't really need.>I have 1 year of fundies under my belt.Use them then because so far you haven't shown anything that has any fundamentals whatsoever. If you want to watch a vid then try this one:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJkWTb-Zx44It goes in a whole lot more detail on how to draw realistically. Pic related is how the first exercise turned out for me. I used a 2H for the sketch a 2B for most of the outlines and a 4B/6B for the darkest values.
>>5848401Thanks, is this possible to do with normal sharpened pencils?
>>5848400By following the contour of the sliced sphere you mean how in some of Loomis' examples it takes almost a right turn when it gets to the flat, right? Also what do you mean showing the other side of the sliced sphere? Do you mean doing it with dashed lines or something like when someone draws a see through of a cube?
>>5848394Is it on ehentai? Dont have sadpanda installed on my new laptop yet
>>5848408For the sketch yes, for the shadowing not ideal. Also you can do a regular grip if the drumstick grip is too challenging.
>>5848409yes to both questionsdrawing through is important because it allows you to catch structural mistakes early on
>>5848417Thanks I am working on it but I don't know how to measure with that tiny thumbnail

>>5848423nice workshadows don't look right, maybe it's time to put some time into learning to render basic 3d forms / doing value studies
>>5848423finally, normal front legs.
>>5848418And one last thing, when I'm just practicing ball and plane from different tilt and angles, while loomis suggests doing that full on then profile before just using your imagination/eye to tilt and turn for your subsequent drawings in those angles, I'm not sure of any way to "check my work" so to say. Any suggestions really for that?
>>5848375I knew Bogdanoffs had a sister
>>5848344You are carving your pencil too hard into the paper. No wonder you're getting carpal tunnel in both hands.

>>5848444What about now
>>5848233Pure soul in these portraits. You're GMI.
>>5848440he relies on intuition to see if the shapes he placed/carved in the ball and wedge are correctbut it's relatively easy to check the ball and wedge itself: just check that parallel lines are still parallel, and that the overall perspective makes sense
>>5848451I think that makes sense, yeah. Thanks a ton anon!
>>5848459Oh it's you again. With the same picture.
>>5848412You know what the fuck I mean
I've been doing the Krenz accuracy, and I find it very difficult to learn how to eyeball proprtions.I get that I can block out shapes at each step and overlay my work to check for accuracy, but I'm not sure how I can really use that information to help me identify the correct angles and spacing outside of knowing that I'm doing it wrong. Also, I've been mainly doing these excercises traditionally and I have no idea if distortion could be fucking me up too or if I'm just making excuses at that point.I've been think that maybe I should have what I'm drawing and my canvas be at the same height and as close as possible to each other, but I dunno if that defeats the point of the exercise. Can anyone share some advice?
>>5848462never posted that. I reworked it.
>>5848470>>5848467Brent Eviston talks about distortion in his fundie course. He uses an easel and sets the drawing up at 90 degrees, puts the subject to the left of the easel. So you just scoot your head to the left and back again to draw with accuracy.
Am I gonna make it bros
>>5848429>maybe it's time to put some time into learning to render basic 3d formsNTA, but how best to learn that?
>>5848478Yes but only if you learn about line of action.
>>5848478Korone will never hug you nerd
>>5848389Make it a habit of drawing the whole body, so you don't have major gaps in your anatomy process.
>>5848459Post the whole thing, if you only drew to to top and to the bottom like that, you should be drawing all of it anyways to practice hands, fingers, and feet.
>>5848489I actually didn't draw the legs completely
Am I improving
>>5848493You should, it can give a better perspective on proper proportions, I want to say the legs might be a bit too long, when you compare them to the length of the arms on a standard technical level, but people vary wildly in shape and size and limb difference lengths, so you could chalk it up to that, but where the feet are would give a better impression, still, it's a very well put together work, congrats. But yes, draw the feet, I would encourage you to draw the toes as well because it seems like every artist skips that and seems to be a universal weak spot and looked over area.
>>5848469He's playing anon. Tip for searching /ic/ old artbook threads: "Rinotuna" AND "fireden" AND "mega"https://mega.nz/file/Tug0BCjQ#BYTxwvBgbMY_z1r6_eXFVQw78ULvf6t72tp-EN76r9U

Can someone tell me how to measure the initial head shape? There's nothing to compare it with so how do you get the jaw size right?
>>5848522That's fucking good man, it kinda makes me want to try my hand at either Guilmon or Renamon even if it might not be as good as your Terriermon.

>>5848507Also, the upper forearm, viewer left, technical right seems really small, as for the feet, draw them first and if I will see if I can maybe help redline, but I gtg to work soon. So not until later today. But I suggest you extend your canvas, work on the head, hands, and feet. It's still decent and you have some great skills, but I feel this is someone else's work and I'm being trolled here, but meh, welcome to /ic/.

>>5848540Not too bad, stylize the hair and skip the frizzy corpse scratch hair, but whoever made this is slowly understanding the finer details of the face, hence the lip protrusion, and the eye from the other side. Also, simplify the eyebrows, you don't NEED to go 100% on photocopying it, again, you are an artist, an illusionist creating visually appealing and mostly accurate (with some liberties) art. Find ways to incorporate hair read as hair but also staying somewhat truthful to the original. But nice study none the less, slowly on your way to progress and success.
>>5848543Sounds like 100% Bullshit what you just said
>>5848484What do you have in mind for making it flow better? (if you have the time, could you show where you'd put a line of action?) >>5848485>>5848512It was a shitpost from imagination for my bro who ironically asked me to draw raphtalia hugging him, but I definitely messed up the anatomy in some places. Thanks for pointing it out, I need to work on my foreshortening and reference points/proportions on the skeleton.
>>5848544Take it or leave it. The eyebrow and the hair are the most eyesores right off the get go, especially the super scratchy hair, as for the rest, it depends on your goals and what you want. There are no rules, just tools and fools.
>>5848547This is alongside the obvious other flaws that I didn't want to mention, such as the chin jutting out too much, the forehead, lack of the other side of the face showing at all other than the eye bulging out, but the anon who made this is at least beginning to understand the beginning ideas of the anatomy of the face, but I mentioned hair because for some reason, scratch hair and scratch eyebrows are just freaky looking, even on beginners studies to me, at least a quick fix to make a somewhat more appealing study as a stand alone piece.
>>5848532That isn't even correctly adjusted. If you can't redline don't bother.

>>5848664that drawing is pretty /beg/ for /beg/ standards. looks nearly copied from something else with 1 thing changed (which would be the glaring legs problem)
I was advised to work on breaking down figures into shapes and cubes to improve my gesture. I imagine something like this is what they meant, which means i will actually have to take a step back and work on cubes in perspective because i cannot for the life of me figure out how to draw the hip for the third figure. Any pointers would be great.
>>5848668It doen't really matter if it was copied, people can still learn from it. >>5848178ktd gains, it resembles a human head now. next is close approximation of reference

>>5848670beg here, why not start with drawing the cubes over the reference then try to draw on your own?
>>5848601The other drawing was posted on twitter like a week ago then deleted. >>5848684Maybe this, overlay your boxes with the photo reference layer, choose multiply layer on the box layer to see how close you got, and maybe begin adding the limbs as well on another layer.
>>5848684That would be cheating

still here huh
>>5848680Notice the upper lip, between the reference and your own, as well as the raised nose bridge, it slightly curves down all the way from the brow, your's has a bit of an uptick. Also, lower the jaw a bit as it's too, simple lasso tool should do. Nice job though.
>>5848694I can try
>>5848698>as it's tooAs it's too short compared to the reference.

>>5848706>noseYou fixed the little uptick in the bridge. But overall measuring it's looking pretty close, nice, I might have been wrong about the chin now looking at it again.
>>5848707I think you forgot to factor in scale, angle and focal length
>>5848712that makes sense now
>>5848703>>5848712I didn't save the one that was posted on twitter in time before it was deleted so I couldn't discern the major differences. I can see them now, thanks.
>>5848670Your proportions vary a lot, for example ribcage to pelvis is massively different between 1 and 2 and just the general with/height ratios of the various pieces are off.In 1 the ribcage is much more tilted in the ref2 should not be fully 2d like that, the ribcage would be tilting backwards and the pelvis forward in a neutral stance and you would probably want to slightly rotate the head to make it more interesting.3 is not bad but the pelvis should be larger because it is closer and I suspect the head somewhat overlaps the ribcage. This is easier with nude figures because you can see the pelvis and ribcage poke out at landmarks.I'll draw over it in a bit.
>>5848725Why on Earth would you save that much less notified of it? Weird.
>>5848725I deleted the one I posted here in the thread. That is the revised art.>>5848712correct

>>5848724Go fuck ureself schizo
>>5848744I'd recommend drawing their tops in line with the eyebrows and their bottoms around the lips. The actual cartilidge shape of the ear is what you should be drawing and worrying about lining up the flabby loose bits rarely works out. Also remember that the chin is not necessarily in line with the front of the forehead or the upper lip from a profile view. It's typically a bit recessed, and you should exaggerate that recession.
>>5848728A few of the artists that I follow made me aware of his existence by rettweeting his art. >>5848746This thread really doesn't deserve to be derailed any further.
>>5848771you didn't save it but you have a picture perfect memory? as the other anon pointed out it's a case of mandala effect. anyway yeah just drop it.
>>5848778I remember both were pictures of the same girl in the same style albeit in flipped positions. I didn't discern other differences until both of them were posted ITT.
>>5848781And you jumped to baseless conclusions by your own false memory.
>>5848767>The actual cartilidge shape of the earis this is the overall shape of the ear?
Why do we have so many mentally ill people in beginner threads? Aren't they supposed to post in places like /fag/, /dad/ or the anime thread?
>>5848786Cartalige, excuse my mispellings. It's that elastic stuff your ears, nose, and joints are made of. The silouhette of the ear - the overall shape - is more determined by bits of flabby skin that cover the cartalige. I guess you could say cartalige is the "skeleton" of the ear, though it actually has bone in it. Most artists don't bother with the skin and just draw the shape the cartalige carves out.
>>5848784Partially, admittedly...I'll make sure to not repeat this huge mistake and save things of interest momentarily as I encounter them.

Thanks for reminding me, anon, I was so focused on things below horizon line at the end that I forgot that it works both ways.>>5848866> i like the pictureThanks.> but it feels a bit off without wrinkles in the sailor's clothesYou're right but not so much I can do with a current petty skill of mine. >>5848912why else would you post this in a /beg/ thread then retard
>>5848934whats so un-beg about it?
>>5848706minor nitpicks, but notice how 1. the end of the back of the hair in the ref is about halfway between the chin, while in your drawing it's about center with the mouth; and 2. the hairline in the ref doesn't recede behind the chin, but in yours it does.
>>5848914Very nice Gamestop cardboard cutout.
>>5848926that stands for I should Draw More Girls
>>5848683Cute but are they flipping themselves off?
>>5848935nta, but the line weight, proportions, gesture, rendering/values lead me to the conclusion that this anon is at the very least high beg with a foot out the door. (would need to see his other work)but that's not to say he should leave because this dumpster fire of a general needs more anons capable of giving decent critiques
>>5848873drew another of these things(ignore the weird snout). is this correct?
this time i used the bounding box method that i saw marc brennet do. but i have the feeling that something went wrong with the torso but i can't see it. and hopefully my faces are improving. but i still need to work on arms and hands. if i screwed up the box let me know.
>>5848873>>5849003read robertson's 'how to render' or check his gnomon videos
>>5848727>>5848826good info for me going forward, i appreciate your attention.>>5848826i can draw from observation, i would say, mildly well. my lines arent the best and i mess up on accuracy but its not terrible. i just like figure drawing. but i am going working my way back to some more basic stuff. i need to practice boxes and perspective but i still like drawing figures.
>>5848830woops meant to reply to you with this post >>5849043anyways. heres a spider ive been drawing, with the ref. I think my newness to digital factors in. with paper and pencil id probably do a bit better.
I'm trying to think of ways to get specific references that I want. I've tried posing myself and working off of the pictures, but it just doesn't work out right. If I just keep working off of existing pictures, will I eventually get gud enough to draw from imagination?
>>5849053maybe watch movies to see how people move, or just go somewhere busy and observe people. maybe a live play?
>>5849057Yeah, but then I have to be the guy who draws in public. Studying movement seems like a good idea though. My finished sketches often have a stiff look, even if they are technically possible and reasonably accurate.
>>5849019got to work on the proportion a bit. The shoulder could be a little wider, the torso is long or the arms are too short(where the elbows are is where the bellybutton should be), and the face is okay if you are doing the anime thing but the ear could be higher(from the brow to the bottom of the nose). Also that is not how sports bar work.
>>5849019>>5849067alright, i made an update because i'm currently working on it right now. i'll try to fix it if i'm not tired
>>5848178everyone using the krenz meme, is it paid content or not?
>>5849102It is paid content (we just see the free stuff on his YouTUbe) and it's all in moonrunes, we just get bits of the gold nuggets in English.
>>5849104Unironically stop measuring it, just FEEL it, according to Hampton.
I've always had really unsteady hands. I've started reading through keys to drawing and have been sketching various things from sight for practice. I realized my lines & whatnot are always really fucked up & always end up with noticeable curvature. Is this something I should prioritize fixing ASAP or is it something that will likely get solved just with continued general drawing practice?

I feel like i’m not improving at figure drawing. like i’m missing critical steps. how do I fix this?
>>5849149>not using perspective guidelinesThere's your problem
How the fuck do I draw women, I've been trying to get better all week, but feel like I've downgraded instead of improved. Frustrated as fuck.Left, last week, right just now.How do I get good at drawing women, I have a pretty good idea of what I want them to look like in my head, but for the life of me can't put it on the fucking paper. Sorry to rant and vent, I just crack this, and feel like I haven't improved at all.

>>5849156>fucking baddon't be so hard on yourself anon. >>5849328I suppose it wouldn't hurt, I'll give it a try
>>5849340I just watched the lesson by brent eviston and it made me realize i never really thought about the proper way to make a sphere and that its similar to drawing a transparent box. >make a circle>make a horizontal and vertical line that split the circle in equal parts>draw two ovals for the vertical and horizontal lines and darken one side of each oval to show where the sphere is facing.its really neat.
>>5849345That sounds pretty helpful actually, you happen to have a link for that video or was this in one of the video courses in the torrent general?
>>5849348its in the torrent under courses/fundies/art and science/ week 3/ day 1
I find myself adding layer on top of layer to increase valuesalthough I am partially satisfied with what is coming out of it (I know there are many issues) the time it is taking me to do it seems too long
>>5849335>First megalink of the second miscellaneous category Thanks anon! Good luck with your studies, your gesture looks great
>>5849184Do you have the time, leeway, and patience to practice for 8+ hours every single day for those 5 years?
>>5848178Today’s practice, conté stick. After this point I experimented with a darker red-brown shade to deepen the values, but I selected poorly and the hues didn’t blend well. Still it’s a practice drawing to learn so I went forward with modeling hair and deepening the darks anyway. Issues to work on include face alignment and the major contours like the convex side, obviously the rendering etc. but it’s a good step forward.
>>5848880the right color looks like you dipped into symbol drawing but good effort anon
>>5848937oh yeah thanks, i need to focus on one area at a time or i keep jumping around. is there a better way for measurement in digital? the sighting method taught in ktd cant really apply to digital
>>5849051not him but you might need to practise a bit more observational drawing, the accuracy of the drawing is a bit off in terms of scale and the roundness of the back part of the spider. maybe after your warmup exercises draw something from observation before you dwell into practising figures
>>5849051holy shit that was hard
>>5849664>the sighting method taught in ktd cant really apply to digitalwhy not? what materials are you working with?
>>5850295because ktd teaches to use the pencil as the main length finder thing. hard to do in digital since the scale of reference is smaller than of the pencil
>>5850372>scale of referencecould reword/elaborate on that phrase? sorry, I'm retarded and just wanna make sure I understand you
>>5850453well to be exact. the book teaches to hold the pencil upright and measure shit, it can't be done in digital since its not life size
>>5850479>since it's not life sizeI don't draw digitally, but I use reference photos on my computer all the time to draw things; I mainly draw from reference photos. not only that, but I use the sighting techniques taught in ktd. there are multiple ways to change the scale: enlarge or shrink the photo, move your computer towards or away from you, move your harm towards or away from your computer.
