It only looks off because the values are off, same with your shadows. In a bright day like that on a beach, shadows are going to be extremely strong midday, like picrel. And naturally light changes tones of everything because shadows scatter color. The best thing is to analyze refs and notice how light affects color.

I'd love to get back into color sometime but I've been able to learn more about composition, perspective, lineart, and how I draw by ignoring color for a few months.
