how do i paint like this
>>6117064white pants
>>6117064looks like shit, get better taste
>>6117064Greg Rutkowski has brushes that look pretty close to this
>>6117064Learn fundiesALL of them.
>>6117072Really? I think it looks pretty rugged and cool.
>>6117064it looks to me like pretty normal digital painting toolsjust some textured and traditional-like brushesother than that it's all in the values, color and design
>>6117080there must be a faster way...
>>6117064First, you must focus, disconnect your hand from your mind and just... do.
>>6117064just learn to paint well, then skilfully mimic a bad painting
>>6117261why do i need to learn to paint well if what i'm going to do is a bad painting
>>6117424because painting badly in a very specific way requires skill, if it's not already your default style
>>6117082It does Ignore the crabs and keep walking
>>6117064You don't, Ask Dall-E 2 to replicate the artstyle for you. There's no need to go further, we, humans, lost to the machine
>>6117064Trial and errorStudy painting real life and then over time you'd figure out how someone else paints.
>>6117064google impasto techniquein general, use wide brushstrokes and little to no mixingif you're a tradfag it should be easy. if you draw in digital use textured brushes
>>6117100Stand in the middle of a crossroads at midnight. Bring a pallet, brushes and some paint. Exactly at 12am Proko will appear and mix your paints. From that point on you will be a great artist, but be careful, once you reach 100k followers on Twitter, Proko will come back to take what's his.
>>6117072pyw fagget>color theory>anatomy>Color theory>anatomy
>>6118041that image looks like shit as well, but the artist COULD have a career in illustrating children's books with that level of skill.
>>6118079cope
>>6118041dilate
>>6118079see>>6118087
>>6117064Just study it moron.
>>6117064I'm a big fan of this artstyle as well. I'd reccommend looking up Marco Bucci's paid painting courses. And watch with great attention his every painting demo, there's great knowledge in there. After that, I'd say you should study the disco paintings themselves. In the end you'll develop your own painterly approach. Picrelated is one of my drawings inspired by this style. If some anon can reccommend a brushset, I'm really open to getting some new brushes, as I mainly use Marco Bucci's brushset
>>6117064doesn't matter we got fucked in the ass big timehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqEHHyffq6U
here is a method:1. Paint thing 2. Dry brush over stuff Congrats on your anime/Disco Elysium crossover.
>>6117066>>6117072>>6117080>>6117261>>6117635>>6117639>>6118137>>6118176low effort fags, why even bother waste time posting if you're just gonna spam tranny memes?
>>6117064Get a Dalle 2 invite and you will paint like this in matter of milliseconds.
>>6118096looks great!>paid coursesi don't want to pay THOUGH
>>6117064Here's my quick (1h) attempt at copying the style. I'm no expert, but if you're interested my process was basically:>start with a rough sketch (I eventually merged this into the painting to add to the roughness)>lay in some quick flats for the major areas (face, hair, jacket)>switch to a brush with a weird shape (a bunch of rectangles) and high spacing to add some texture/noise, then start adding more colors and refiningI kept things loose the entire time, so it was a pretty fun process. Looking at the final drawing side-by-side with the original I see tons of mistakes and room for refinement, but at least I was able to get the "look" I was going for.
>>6117064lol i look like that guy
>>6122608You look based
>>6122730i know
>>6121157Get ready, /ic/ is gonna hurt you today.
textured smudge brush with very long smudge mix in random colors, mix in backround colors with subject, here i also went over it with a transparent brush to muddy it up, as a place in for dry brushing
>>6123548Based as fuck.
>>6123548>textured smudge brushthat makes no sense, you cant have a texture on something thats just going to smudge it lol. but yes its either a smudge or the mixer, which has a a lot more capability and works better than smudge. but smuding is like 30% of whats happening, youre missing a lot of techniques begletand do you use a tablet by any chance? because you have zero control of your brush work, i literally drew mine with a mouse>>6121157sry bud thats just straight up trash
>>6123678texture on the alpha, jesus.youre just copying the pic, you shouldnt be talking so much
>>6123693what difference does it make if you cant control your brush strokes and shitty smudging that youre heavily abusing. theres no variety or color temperature. i dont need to do something original to show you how you got ass blasted by my mouse drawing
digital art simply is just custom brushes, nothing more.
>>6123701draw more, talk less.
>>6123706ill draw something so you can learn beglet, something thats not the same angle and the retarded ass lighting that youre trying to mimic
>>6117133This is what's got me through my work the best
I don't understand what's shitty about this painting, other than a weird shadow left of the portrait and color choice it's kinda cool. I like the brush textures and form, not sure what textures they use
>>6123678Anon, i'm /beg/ that actually impressed by your workPlease spoonfeed me on software and burshes you did used.I just want to copy your steps till it clicks for me too.
>>6121157>>6123548>>6123678You guys are very cool, I got inspired to give it a try. I also happen to be playing the game currently and loving it.
god disco elysium fucks so hard. about your question op uhhhh lmao just paint a bunch and watch some sinix, he gives decent advice about how to actually study peoples styles.
>>6123837wtf it actually looks like the portrait
>>6117064here king, he only shows like 2 portraits but maybe you can take something out of ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwqtZRRCj_8&t=3178s
>>6123837honestly cant tell if its that good or its literally just the portrait from the game

>>6123837You just took this portrait online right?
>>6123882>>6123918>>6124181oh shit thanks frens, I'm sorry I forgot to explain the process which is the entire point of the thread. I'm too boomer to take vids but here's the breakdown. Naturally it wasn't done in this perfect order but it might be helpful to see the separation of layers. The brushes were shared in the other disco elysium thread a few weeks back, worth the 7 bucks. I mostly used the hard bristle brushes.I wasn't timing but I think it took me like an hour & half. Don't skip color theory guys, very important fundie.
