I have an idea for a ~5 minute animation that is objectively one of the sickest things ever made. Like shit that will enter the internet hall of fame and remembered forever.

To create it I would have to sacrifice the next 10 years of my life because I'm nowhere near the level it requires

It plays and replays in my head every day and it's pure fucking torture.

Just pay someone else to do it.
>>
ngmi, just kill yourself
>>
>>6198738
It’s probably shit, and even if it wasn’t it shouldn’t take ten years. There’s probably an animation of a gorilla spinning that took a week that’s more famous than anything you’ll ever approach

There are very few people in the world who can pull it off properly. Can't even name examples but probably some oldschool ghost in a shell type animators that are retired by now.

>>6198753
I made it with drawing but still beg tier in animation

>>6198755
It's not shit. and yes it would take 10 years to go from /beg/ animation to creating a masterwork.
>>
>>6198763
Made it how, how much a year, full time artist?
>>
>>6198763
> I made it with drawing but still beg tier in animation
not them but can i see the prelim animation?
though i can’t play webms, i can see gifs on my devices. if it’s troubling, never mind the ask

For reference, this guy made a five minute animation on his own. Took him four years:

>>6198837
wow... imagine wasting 4 years of your life on that
>>
>>6198738
And main question being- you posted it why?
>>
>>6198837
wtf is that real?!
Cringe btw

This guy did decent enough Berserk animation in 6 months or so.

I don't have anything to show really. Still struggling with key frames and basic walk animations. Having good drawing fundamentals helps expediate the process but I still haven't chipped a pebble out of the mountain.

The point is that this task is practically impossible to accomplish without giving up on everything else in my life. The idea will remain locked in my head forever.

So basically idea is that this tall horror creature walks in a psychidelic forest and then hears a noice from afar.
And then start looking where it hears the noise from, just when he has found the noise it gets you attention.
Then it starts taking over your mind, he will take over your body (mind and soul) and you start to believe it.
You'll stare at him with a pale face, feel sad when he gets near you and become paralyzed.
Then he tells you that he won't harm you.
He'll just help you to die.
And you end up dying and everyone looks at you like you're some kind of crazy monster (well that's what everyone seems to think).
The ending is quite open, so you can interpret it as you want.
Yep, thats my idea and i really want to animate it.
I really don't have any idea how to go about it so we'll see how far it goes.
But i really love the idea of the eye looking over the viewer's shoulder and having the main character look like a tall man, like an ectoplasmic man.
Is there any way i can make a drawing of this as a one sheet and put it up on dA.If not i'll just try to make a nice little movie out of it.

spoonfeeding babies because the new generation seems to have more grit than my own:

>24 fps = 1 second
>60 seconds = 1,440 frames
>5 minutes = 7200 frames
>animating on 2's = 3600 frames
>animating on 3's (yuck) = 2400 frames

things you can do alone (easy):
>Idea™
>Script
>Editing (kojima)

things you can do alone (tough):
>pre-viz (including concept art)
>reference materials (including storyboard)

things you probably shouldn't do on your own:
>background art
>keyframes

things you absolutely shouldn't do on your own:
>2400-7200 frames of animation by yourself
>inbetweening, ever
>coloring, ever

why is that? because you're not *actually* doing 2400 - 7200 frames of animation.
You're doing actually *way* more than that at any given point in time.
>constantly fixing lines
>constantly checking to see if things are flowing properly
>passes for cell shading outlines (digital)
>passes for masking (digital)
>passes for coloring frames
>constantly redoing and redrawing things that do not work all the time
>constantly ensuring every relevant frame is on-model perspective, construction, proportion, etc.

if you're an amateur get used to doing maybe 2 frames a day.
You *will* end up redrawing things constantly. Every frame is a literal painting.
Grab a screenshot of your favorite anime and do a study of it.
How long did it take? What processes did you use?

Now think about standardizing those processes across hundreds (ignore thousands) of frames.
Each of those frames require passes, and many of those passes require passes of iteration.

Once you can grasp the workload/pipeline, all the animation itself actually does is tell you the exact composition of a given subject at any given time. Last thing you want is to have good frames, but shit animation.

>Animation != Producing frames of animation != Pre-production != Idea™
Learn to see these disciplines as separate matters.

Behold division of labor:
>1 autistic man = 7200 frames
>2 autistic men = 3600 frames
>4 autistic men = 1800 frames
>8 autistic men = 900 frames
>16 autistic men = 450 frames
>32 autistic men = 225 frames

The average studio will have staffed somewhere about 20 animators. This is excluding all essential "non-animators" like VAs and Composers and everyone else. these numbers balloon by about 10x in corporate settings. maybe you can force a bunch of redditors to draw exactly what you want, on-model, high-quality, 225 times, for free. It seems like the sort of sweatshop labor suited for easterners, in my opinion.

Thanks for putting things in perspective anon.

Actually you've injected some optimism in me.
It is literally more probable for me to take a loan / save money with my stemfag job and open a small animation studio years down the line.

I just need to do the art direction and maybe the keyframes.

Still a far fetched dream, but much more likely than my original fantasy.

okay my idea is these two big hairy greasy men on a bed that fuck each other for 8 minutes... and next thing you know some black dude is touching their dicks... and then they are like wtf i want to cum too fuck da shit out of them to oblivion... and black dude walks around to their head... puts his dick in their mouths and starts sucking... and man oh man the two big greasy men turn into two little boys that can't stop cumming they are cumming so hard.

the black dude pulls his dick out and cums on the bed and the mangy two big men are cumming too their dicks are hard and swollen their dicks just looking at each other as the cum's all over their faces and torsos and such... and then there's this pause... cum flowing out of both dicks... cum on both the mangy and the moo moo men.... cum pooling all over the bed... cum dripping down onto the black man's face... cum dribbling from his eyes... cum dripping from his hair and his lip and ear... cum on his chest... cum dribbling from his mouth... cum dripping from his asshole... cum dripping from his cock... cum running down his legs... cum dripping from the mangy man's ass.... cum dripping from his hands and off of his fingers...>>6199037
