>>6568012As a fan of western art, I want to try liking weebshit but I legitimately can't vibe with the vast majority of anime/other japanese things in general because most use a generic artstyle with copy and paste same face-syndrome and their stories suck ass with most of their narratives amounting to "saving the world" trope by killing a big bad or destroying some organization, either that or some High School/Moe or Isekai crap. They have a lot of storytelling issues that many people can’t stand, overly complicated storylines, badly written or underdeveloped female characters, protagonists who all feel the same, constant flashbacks, weird pacing, so much exposition, excessive fan service, western media doesn’t have any of those problems. Obviously not all anime has those issues but it has that reputation for a reason.The few ones I liked were Berserk, Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball back when I was a kid. If you have reccomendations that might make me change idea, then feel free to suggest.

I’m no art history expert, but Europeans went nuts after ukiyo-e in the 19th century, so it kinda is weeb. The use of strong lines and color as well as ornaments is very reminiscent of the Jap’s.
