Hello /ic/, I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, but about 2 months ago, I started practicing a bit more seriously. I've noticed that sometimes I'm satisfied with my drawings, but other times they are pure garbage. Has anyone gone through a stage like this?Pic related, the drawing on the left was done on Friday, drawing on the right was done on Saturday.
Every single person who draws with any regularity has experienced this. It's an intrinsic part of the experience. No, there isn't really anything to be done about it.

>>6847233You have ~10,000 bad drawings. You practice and get better, starts to go from every drawing being bad, to a few here or there interspersed between the good ones. This is not linear at all. Maybe you made 5,000 bad drawings, now you can make good drawings, but you still have 5,000 more bad ones waiting to be drawn. Every bad drawing you make is one less bad drawing you will make. Just keep going the best you can.

One thing you'll learn as an artist is to fail faster.You should be able to just grab these drawings and throw them in the trash if they're not up to your standards.A lot of people get stuck in a mindset of fixing a broken sketch by re-re-re-re-re-re-doing parts of it with an eraser, but the efficient artists will just sketch the same thing 3, maybe 5 times until one of the sketches looks nice. Then you can use that one as a basis for a more polished picture.Because mistakes will always happen, and sometimes just restarting at an early stage will save you time in the long run.By the way /beg/ works are very revealing of how people think, always have a little giggle on women's understanding of facial features. Not because it's amateurish, but because of the underlying assumptions that are completely different from men. Eventually both can come around.
