>>6847972not him but unless you are into buildings and architecture structure you are good enough with loomis basic perspective qrd, i only draw anime bitches and i have yet to use any of that fancy 2vp, 3vp, 4vp, 5vp stuff
I don’t draw anymore so should I continue to participate in these threads? I suppose you “critiquers” can’t discourage me anymore. So what use are you? Did you ever have any value? I don’t just mean to this board, but for life in general?
>>6847977Hey dude, how are you?

>>6847984hum.... just realized that most of my drawings have no bg strructures and are mostly a front view angle lmao.
>>6847185>Also, read the Vilppu Drawing ManualI'll give this a shot, thanks for the encouragementI took a break from that figure and did some other high perspective poses and I guess it's only the top/down views that are tripping me up because I'm able to get the shapes down pretty good with more side facing poses.I think part of my issue is just bad line economy, I use too many and the drawing ends up looking a lot more stiff but I'll hopefully have that particular pose figured out by the end of today.

The sky should be higher in value to match the lighting on her face. The mountains should also be brighter to match the lighting, but if that's a cloud shadow it should be more defined and follow the form of the mountain. The rose and stem should probably be more saturated. Nice work though

Went to my first figure drawing class in many many years. Was surprised to have been able to draw so much in the allotted time. Didn't expect to have two models, kinda happy I could pull off fitting both in the composition.Teachers both said my charcoal drape attempt didn't meld that well with my super light pencil parts and I'm inclined to agree. Was inspiring to see the art of others.
I didn't know how to make the best use of my time drawing when I'm at work and with little time. I've been doing contour drawings like this, just drawing what. Isee to get something out daily. I actually somewhat like the outcome and I wonder rifle this will make me more comfortable with life drawing. I do feel I unintentionally symbol drew or stylized at points though. https://pin.it/4lQaUKxTrying to alsocapply some of what I learned to properly draw from reference, as well as what I learned from the book 'Keys to drawing'.

>>6848251okay, you can change the size of the boobs then, but you gotta fix the torso dudeeven with triple H size titties if they dont have arms or bras supporting them, they will fall to either side of the ribcage(AKA no cleavage)you also keep repeatedly giving your girls a tumor for a cheek and consistently somehow fuck up the jaw and chin, makes their faces look fat.that looks like Try(lsc)'s old sketches. Why not study his newer doujins/work, its much better with a lot less errors
>>6848260I like the cheeks and the boobs shapeunfortunately trylsc had some psychological problems and was out of action for about 3 years, only now returning so there is a gap in his artworkI'll try to fix the torso and post soon

Wanted to post this again from Saturday, this was my 24th consecutive day of learning and trying to do my first still life and first shading attemptany major mistakes I've made I need to remedy in future endeavors? Does shading still life relate to shading characters?
Can i get some corrections on this? pretty please.

Hello beg, i am back after 3 days of not drawing. I was autistically tuning my blog and autistically hoarding books instead. >>6848355that doesn't really explain how can it make shadows look good on anything without knowing how shadows work, that tells you shadows aren't really about three dimensional geometry and physics and more about shape language
>>6848333AI usually contains a ton of convolution layers giving it a vague idea of which parts of the image should cast shadows or have ambient occlusion thanks to image derivatives and other filters, the same way you can get edges with cunny filters but for more features at once and more complex ones
>>6848362>giving it a vague idea of which parts of the image should cast shadows or have ambient occlusionit literally doesn't know what those are, it just sees shapes and contrast and what notthe sinix videos preach these too, the shape language is more important than anything

>>6848273I'm 100% serious when I tell you you need to blacken the background. You'll immediately see the value range issues that have been mentioned previously
>>6848353getting there
>>6848277You need to work on many things but, first, you should work on your line confidence. You can improve this by repeatedly training your ability to draw a line between two random points without a straightedge, in a single stroke. If you miss, lay out two more random points and retry. DO NOT WASTE TIME by erasing stuff: you are training, not drawing a comission.
>>6848242alright,with the help I had I tried to fix the torso, hands and face. The girl on the right I didn't change that much because the problem comes from the foundation of the sketch, so it's better to start a new draw.>>6848355cool planesI recognize some from the 50s

How long should I take a study? At a certain point I just kinda don't want to take it further, it takes too long and feels like diminishing returns start kicking in.
>>6848413very cute!
>>6848414Well, I'd at least get the faces done, try to really capture that same emotion in the faces. Your studies dont have to be complete recreations in all cases. Sometimes just studying values is what you need, sometimes just how hands are done, sometimes brush work. Whatever floats your boat.
>>6848421>try to really capture that same emotion in the facesYeah, that sounds like it should be one of the main points. It's just too easy getting caught on some details and letting my brain go around doing stuff that will probably not amount to much knowledge gained.
I'm going to trace over AI and fix obvious flaws like fucked up hands or extra limbs and become a big artist with extremely minimal effortwhat say you, /ic/?

>>6848799>>6848850Michael Hampton, Figure Drawing, Design and Invention. If you aren't that skilled with construction just yet, I'd suggest tracing the figure from your reference first. Then move the traced mannequin and add horizontal lines for the major landmarks. Then redraw the figure at an angle you want while taking into account the landmark lines and how rotation can change arm placement, angles etc. If you just work from references, you'll be boned if you can't find "the perfect" one for each use case.

>>6848487>is *insert a thing* allowed?"no rules, just tools"
Hi my loves, I want an easy way to color my drawings, but keep the focus of my drawing journey on drawing. Pic related is an old work of mine, lines were drawn with fineliner, color painted with water diluted acrylic. Do you think this is a good idea? What would be better perhaps?

>>6849371cute
>>6849372That's nice. Need actual critiques. i am not bothered by critiques, but just make sure they are helpful. Keeping in mind my drawing skills are kinda rock bottom, beyond some past experiences probably allowing slightly better hand control.
>>6849368lol. You idiots really are full of yourselves despite being able to do so little. If you really think “make it look more anime” is the same as describing color to a blind person then you need to get out more and interact with actual people. But I’m sure you’ll convince yourself that, too, is some impossible task.
>>6849374well i suck at art i could either say cute if its cute and leave it at that or troll you /shrug take it or leave it bruh
>>6849371nicebut you don't need that many lines to describe its formyou could start with light lines and restate once or twice for the finer detailsalso the contour is not really following the form in your ref
>>6848410You need to follow through with some of your shapes. The top portion of the figure to the right specifically violates the continuity established by the angles the bottom of the ribcage create in your drawing. The left figures torso feels much more natural in comparison. Draw the forms through objects that are above them. Notice how in the redline you can still see the torso beneath the massive breasts? It's faint, but it's there. It looks like you're trying to emulate Houtengeki if I had to guess. Whichever artist you're copying, try and see if you can find the pelvis and ribcage as simple ovals to see how they're placed in the figure. Trace over it if you need to.>>6849370>>6849359>>6849363Yeah most people don't identify any of the actual problems in the drawing and offer no solutions. People offer the most vague advice possible. It's a real shame.
>>6849381Yeah I kinda was just experimenting with drawing them desu so it got a bit exagerrated. I'm gonna try and do a few more today.
>>6849383Glad you're here to pick up the slack.
>>6849371Don't get caught up in the smaller folds of the seal, although I can see you put in a straight before doing so. I suggest avoiding it for now. Instead veer towards making a simpler statement like in pic related where I use 3 lines. This makes checking the proportions easier to do as well because there's less points in the drawing you need check and correct. You ended up picking up a rhythmical statement where the fold flows to the fin but it's too straight (drawn in blue).>>6849386I try my best to help when I can
>>6849416Thanks man, I'll try and redo it with your advice!Oh, and here is one I just did now.
>>6848610colored>>6848759I see potential here, with a little work on faceshape and practicing eyes will go a long wayyour lines are very thick and dont taper in pen pressure , work on your lineart.
>>6849416I dunno why but the second attempt looks worse than my first. Maybe I am already burnt out or something...I'll try drawing something else now.
>>6849429Decided to try drawing a human. First time I think I've actually drawn something close to accurate breasts...God it looks bad though.
>>6849275how do I unburn my dopamine
>>6849429It looks worse because you repeated the same curve three times in a row making for a monotonous drawing. Avoid drawing the face or any little bumps for now and make the simplest line you can. The red here is the proportional relationships you need to look for as well as any other angles you need to find. The blue is the actual drawing. Also ditch the fins for now until the body is looking good. The red lines are it's own skill (proportion/measuring) and required for being accurate, but I don't want you worrying about that and instead I want you to draw the seal in as few lines as you can. 3 at least and maybe 6 at most. Draw it smaller rather than bigger.>>6849441You need to train your accuracy hard. Start with some really simple still life set ups like a sphere lit by a single light source. Draw it as accurately as you can. I'm going to show you a process on how to approach a drawing and you need to look up how to measure and perform specific proportion/accuracy exercises
>>6849454How is painting a sphere gonna help me do anatomy better? I appreciate what you are saying, I'll resume in a little bit but just kinda having a bit of a depressing day honestly.
>>6849459Because you don't know how to see and observe accurately. When you can't draw a sphere or any other primitive form, you won't able to draw a muscle belly with any sense of solidity. A bicep is very similar to a beveled brick. Also what you said is like asking how learning to move you feet will make you punch better in boxing. The fact is they're both a part of boxing the same way drawing a sphere and drawing a figure build upon your core skills. A sphere or human figure follow the exact same rules as anything else. In fact being able to light a sphere however you want is one of the most useful skills that I can think of for painting from imagination. Anyway, you're going to establish the major proportions of the sphere and separation of the background from the foreground. See the two lines in the sphere making a cross hair. You're going to make sure those 2 are the same size in relation to each other. Then you're going to draw in the cast shadow and form shadow of the sphere. Notice the use of plumb lines here in this stage. You only need to do these 2 stages. This is the block-in. Get this stage right and get good at it.
more bottles and some other shit it's hard but with practice I think it will get really easy
Refs for action poses of women?I don't really trust posing programs.

You can look at taekwondo tournaments, unless you need them naked

Maybe they presume that people are oblivious to their own skill level?
>>6848434>I'll just trace shit and it will look great.Yeah you aren't as good as you seem to think. It's going to be obvious and also crap.
As a /beg/ I can just ignore drawing from imagination, right?I mean I doodle sometimes, but I mostly work with refs.
>>6849383thanks bro, I appreciate the adviceI'm trying to draw girls like trylsc doesI just checked out Houtengeki's work and was surprised that my doodles look more like his style than the artist I wanted to emulateI'm trying to make doodles by myself so I'm having a lot of difficulty>>6848992my main inspirations are trylsc and blue gk

>>6849592Make fewer lines?
>>6849599Thanks, I guess

Any beginner bros get frustrated by lack of progress but eventually get gud? I'm reading this Draw in 30 Days book and doing the exercises but 1 I suck at them and 2 I feel like the repetition isn't helping. I dunno. I need to stick with it.
>>6849688you'll definitely feel like you're not getting anywhere sometimes especially if you're just starting out. you're still improving as long as you stay consistent with it
>>6849595Look at Sycra
>>6849688Progression is a bad motivator as it comes and goes and depending on what you choose to work on can even seem to regress. Ideally drawing should be its own reward. When you're studying things because you're genuinely interested and want to use them to make better drawings rather than because its in a book and someone told you to draw it can turn something that's painful into something engaging or even relaxing. Structure and discipline is fine, but take time to draw what you want. You'll learn far more and enjoy yourself more by pursuing what interests you and the problems involved as they come than by mindlessly copying books.
>>6849722Sycra’s a professional artist
>>6849720>>6849724Thank you for the encouragement anons. I will continue to stick at it.
>>6849481Sigh...I tried but I am probably just tired, I can't really draw tomorrow (well we'll see) as I'll be busy on something else quite important. I also probably didn't do what you asked right, and now I think I actually completely missed what I was supposed to do...yeah I'll redo this tomorrow but this is what I did now. You can see I struggled with getting the perfect sphere shape for some reason, likely due to not using my arms properly.
Tired of grinding faces and figures, it's fun time

day 65i was supposed to be focusing on the haireughh
First time doing figure drawing. Did 30 minutes. 10 gestures 30s, 5 1min, 2 5min, 1 10min. Found it really enjoyable and the time flew by
Something feels off, just can't quite put my finger on it.
Need help on feeling the form. I end up doing guesswork as to how the protrusions and depressions would be accurately depicted when setting up the figure in 3d perspective a la Loomis.Additionally, when I do a gesture, I’ve relied on the contour as opposed to internally building the rhythm of the body. I’ve started just drawing tons of boxes in free perspective and it’s been helping, but for more specific work that deals with the form of the figure, are there other resources to consult at the moment?
>>6849982Perspective is all over the place. I suggest using simple forms and combine them into the complex form, so its easier to keep track of the perspectiveYour values are wrong which gives it a muddy look. Separate them correctly and experiement with hue shifting
Practicing while necessary isn't fun so it's easy to lose focuswhen my ADD brain take over I'm like a dwarf taken by a fae mood NEEDING to complete the task, but it only works with good drawing ideas/doodles/ms paint editsI think I just have to implement the practice into something I want to draw
>>6849788Embrace the robo-kino in your heart.Scott Robertson's How To Draw might give you some pointers to improve the accuracy of your mechs.Since the robo is such a huge dark mass, I would have reduced the brightness of the background, maybe upped the light hitting the mech so it pops more.>>6849825My Ultralisk can't be this cute.I assume you're doing digital airbrushes over a scanned ink drawing?Experiment with slightly thicker lines for masses that are closer to the viewer and thinner ones in the back. It's right claw overlays it's legs and you kept the part behind it white, which is good, but I would have made the line ever so slightly thicker so that it's more prominent as well.>>6849835>>6849938>>6850087Stay strong, keep going, anons.>>6849901Try tracing a face while drawing the same key points you used in these. If these are pure construction, you need to work a few from IRL references in.>>6849928Looking good, boss.>>6850186Probably the distended jaw and angle of the ears. You are bringing the mouth too much forward which creates an underbite. Pic related, top row's middle image has a similar angle for the face.
finally getting the hang of these more solid forms and overlapping themVilppu is a staple for a reason
>>6850285Nice! Huge improvements!
>>6850288Thanks! If you were the anon that recommended Vilppu it was a tremendous help, I can finally move on with my Weston lectures and get arms and legs out of the way lolAlthough I'll still need to simplify the torso further since I'll be animating stuff soon, luckily I have some Aaron Blaise lectures in the queue
Guise, I just went on twitch to see how other artists do their stuff and they take SO FUCKING LONG doing anything. I know they have to pay attention to chat, but even then I think they take like 10 minutes to draw an arm.How long do you guys take to draw a full body? Also, are there any professionals speedpaints without the speed, just the paint? I'm conscious in my drawing speed now.
>>6850298I like eu03https://www.twitch.tv/eu03art
>>6850298Depends on skill level, stylization and focus. Any chat is a debuff, but 10 minutes for an arm sounds reasonable if it's foreshortened, has some design implications.>How long do you guys take to draw a full bodyI've posted it before, but purely drawing pic related took 2-3 hours and the line quality was subpar. I'd say that's my average time for similar, overlapping shape figures. 1-2 hours if it's some standing/simple figure.
>>6850301>but 10 minutes for an arm sounds reasonable if it's foreshortenedI think I'm zooming too much then.>drawing pic related took 2-3 hoursBut that's counting painting, so it sounds fine.>>6850300DUDE, at 2:37 hours from the vod of 4 days ago, that guy is taking ages to draw. My mind is blown, I think I'm retarded and have been going too fast all this time.
>>6850312>But that's counting painting, so it sounds fine.Painting was up 5 hours for 7.5h total. Could have knocked it down to 6 total at best if I had a higher res reference from the get go.
What are some exercises to develop spatial thinking other than rotating cubes?
>>6850314What, you took 2-3 hours to just draw it?
>>6850317Yes. Skill issue mostly, but overlapping shapes are harder to pin down. Working slower to be precise takes time in any case.>>6850315Rotating complex cube and shape combos, heads or bodies. Something like pic related from Scott Robertson.
i found a image in /trash/ about shadows and lighting so i practiced for some time, ¿this is right done?
>>6850315Do what Kim Jung Gi did. Find an object, then rotate it in your head. More interesting than cubes, I think.
>>6850325Bottom left looks about similar to the material you used.Color in shadow comes from the light that is reflected on the ball. The reflection wouldn't travel as far. The terminator on the ball should be darker. Depending on the material of the ball, the bounce light should be brighter. This goes into more detail about light:>https://www.learntopaintpodcast.com/blog/understanding-light-amp-shadow-terminology
I'm trying to draw him getting surprised by some vines grabbing his arm, but if I commit to much to him pulling it looks like it's after the surprise and if I don't, it looks kinda stiff.Any advice?

how can i move from drawing girl in the void into drawing background/perspective? i always feel like my art went from average and become shit when trying to draw background.
It’s been too long since I drew something like this. I feel better now.>>6850292>>6850285Oh, hey, that was me. These are much better! You’re feeling the form and the foreshortening is much more believable. Good job!

how do i stop my figures from figure drawing from looking so flat
>>6850473i wish they could look like this...
>>6850473the example you give has more exaggerated form, resulting in a skinny look with similar proportions. Also general skill and time, his 3 skilled lines for the thigh vs your sketchy mess. Good work and good shapes, but lines need work hehe.
>>6850479yeah i struggle a lot with linework, it's very hard to work on a very limited timeframe. Legs in general are a pain in the ass for me.
>>6850473These are not flat.
>>6850484Unironically try tracing some work you like if you arent already. Very quick way i improved lines, but make sure you aren't "printing" and are trying your best to replicate every individual brush stroke.
>>6850488thanks, gonna try to do that, got some recs of artists to trace from? what do you mean by printing. I specially struggle with legs, pieces of shit are hard to make look nice, pic rel sketch from yesterday.
>>6849671These planes are cute
>>6850493its hard to describe, but an example doing lots of short lines when there is clearly one long line in the original. My recs are anything you like and think looks good, because your art will slowly look like that. Do you still do construction, even if you have the intention to paint rather than do lineart?
>>6850493I see what you mean by flat now.
Are there any good sites which just show you a bunch of relatively normal reference photos? Not like those weird contortionist refs just normal sitting and standing poses

>>6849750you've placed the shadow ellipse too far to the right. The sphere must contact the ground inside its own shadow (the only way for the sphere to sit on the edge of its shadow is if the light is coming directly from the side, with zero elevation above the sphere). You may benefit from picking up a styrofoam sphere from the dollar store and using that with a desk lamp to set up lighting studies for yourself. Remember, draw what you see, not what you think you ought to see.
>>6850186train up your ability to render form by drawing more boxes spheres cones and cylinders in perspective

I want to make an art piece criticizing onlyfans modelsneed some advice on how to communicate my idea better. This is a reference picture I took, pretend the power ranger is a stand in for a nude womanthe idea i'm trying to communicate is how young woman get roped into pursuing onlyfans as a way to make money, but of course only the top 3% make anything, while the average model makes less than $180/month, even if they do make something, once the novelty weares off to their audience they have to do more and more degrading shit to make money. I'm thinking the jar could also have a crack to symbolize the girls broken dream or something. The idea behind the jar is a reference to the rainbow dash cumjar and to the bella delphine bathwater/piss jar product, its meant to symbolize/reference the idea of female sexuality being sold as an erotic product.this is for an art assignment, so obviously I cant say its the holes fault. I'm worried it might come off as too sjw/femenist tho, anyone have any suggestions?
