I'll give this a shot, thanks for the encouragement
I took a break from that figure and did some other high perspective poses and I guess it's only the top/down views that are tripping me up because I'm able to get the shapes down pretty good with more side facing poses.
I think part of my issue is just bad line economy, I use too many and the drawing ends up looking a lot more stiff but I'll hopefully have that particular pose figured out by the end of today.

Her face looks pretty good, but everything else kinda clashes together. The sky should be higher in value to match the lighting on her face. The mountains should also be brighter to match the lighting, but if that's a cloud shadow it should be more defined and follow the form of the mountain. The rose and stem should probably be more saturated. Nice work though

Went to my first figure drawing class in many many years.

Was surprised to have been able to draw so much in the allotted time. Didn't expect to have two models, kinda happy I could pull off fitting both in the composition.

Teachers both said my charcoal drape attempt didn't meld that well with my super light pencil parts and I'm inclined to agree.

Was inspiring to see the art of others.

I didn't know how to make the best use of my time drawing when I'm at work and with little time. I've been doing contour drawings like this, just drawing what. Isee to get something out daily. I actually somewhat like the outcome and I wonder rifle this will make me more comfortable with life drawing. I do feel I unintentionally symbol drew or stylized at points though.

okay, you can change the size of the boobs then, but you gotta fix the torso dude
even with triple H size titties if they dont have arms or bras supporting them, they will fall to either side of the ribcage(AKA no cleavage)
you also keep repeatedly giving your girls a tumor for a cheek and consistently somehow fuck up the jaw and chin, makes their faces look fat.
that looks like Try(lsc)'s old sketches. Why not study his newer doujins/work, its much better with a lot less errors

that doesn't really explain how can it make shadows look good on anything without knowing how shadows work, that tells you shadows aren't really about three dimensional geometry and physics and more about shape language
>>
>>6848333
AI usually contains a ton of convolution layers giving it a vague idea of which parts of the image should cast shadows or have ambient occlusion thanks to image derivatives and other filters, the same way you can get edges with cunny filters but for more features at once and more complex ones
>>
>>6848362
>giving it a vague idea of which parts of the image should cast shadows or have ambient occlusion
it literally doesn't know what those are, it just sees shapes and contrast and what not

You need to work on many things but, first, you should work on your line confidence. You can improve this by repeatedly training your ability to draw a line between two random points without a straightedge, in a single stroke. If you miss, lay out two more random points and retry. DO NOT WASTE TIME by erasing stuff: you are training, not drawing a comission.

Well, I'd at least get the faces done, try to really capture that same emotion in the faces. Your studies dont have to be complete recreations in all cases. Sometimes just studying values is what you need, sometimes just how hands are done, sometimes brush work. Whatever floats your boat.
>>

Yeah, that sounds like it should be one of the main points. It's just too easy getting caught on some details and letting my brain go around doing stuff that will probably not amount to much knowledge gained.

slow down! the drawing should be fixed before you jump into painting it. measure her proportions. You don't have to stick to ideal(just an example), but do consider adjusting her, get some other reference. It looks like you may have drawn her with clothes on top, didn't do the figure first?

Purely from imagination/memory. What the fuck do kangaroos look like? I remember they’re weirdly buff, and have a strange pubic bone or something kinda like dinosaurs maybe. I think I’ve seen one use its knuckles to sort of gorilla itself forward before… while grazing? Do kangaroos graze? But I couldn’t make it look right. And I know they can stand on their tail to kick people. Never drawn a kangaroo, and deliberately avoided any kangaroo reference. Let’s see how I did…

Michael Hampton, Figure Drawing, Design and Invention.

If you aren't that skilled with construction just yet, I'd suggest tracing the figure from your reference first. Then move the traced mannequin and add horizontal lines for the major landmarks. Then redraw the figure at an angle you want while taking into account the landmark lines and how rotation can change arm placement, angles etc. If you just work from references, you'll be boned if you can't find "the perfect" one for each use case.

You need to follow through with some of your shapes. The top portion of the figure to the right specifically violates the continuity established by the angles the bottom of the ribcage create in your drawing. The left figures torso feels much more natural in comparison. Draw the forms through objects that are above them. Notice how in the redline you can still see the torso beneath the massive breasts? It's faint, but it's there. It looks like you're trying to emulate Houtengeki if I had to guess. Whichever artist you're copying, try and see if you can find the pelvis and ribcage as simple ovals to see how they're placed in the figure. Trace over it if you need to.

Don't get caught up in the smaller folds of the seal, although I can see you put in a straight before doing so. I suggest avoiding it for now. Instead veer towards making a simpler statement like in pic related where I use 3 lines. This makes checking the proportions easier to do as well because there's less points in the drawing you need check and correct. You ended up picking up a rhythmical statement where the fold flows to the fin but it's too straight (drawn in blue).

It looks worse because you repeated the same curve three times in a row making for a monotonous drawing. Avoid drawing the face or any little bumps for now and make the simplest line you can. The red here is the proportional relationships you need to look for as well as any other angles you need to find. The blue is the actual drawing. Also ditch the fins for now until the body is looking good. The red lines are it's own skill (proportion/measuring) and required for being accurate, but I don't want you worrying about that and instead I want you to draw the seal in as few lines as you can. 3 at least and maybe 6 at most. Draw it smaller rather than bigger.

>>6849441
You need to train your accuracy hard. Start with some really simple still life set ups like a sphere lit by a single light source. Draw it as accurately as you can. I'm going to show you a process on how to approach a drawing and you need to look up how to measure and perform specific proportion/accuracy exercises

Because you don't know how to see and observe accurately. When you can't draw a sphere or any other primitive form, you won't able to draw a muscle belly with any sense of solidity. A bicep is very similar to a beveled brick. Also what you said is like asking how learning to move you feet will make you punch better in boxing. The fact is they're both a part of boxing the same way drawing a sphere and drawing a figure build upon your core skills. A sphere or human figure follow the exact same rules as anything else. In fact being able to light a sphere however you want is one of the most useful skills that I can think of for painting from imagination.

Anyway, you're going to establish the major proportions of the sphere and separation of the background from the foreground. See the two lines in the sphere making a cross hair. You're going to make sure those 2 are the same size in relation to each other. Then you're going to draw in the cast shadow and form shadow of the sphere. Notice the use of plumb lines here in this stage. You only need to do these 2 stages. This is the block-in. Get this stage right and get good at it.

Progression is a bad motivator as it comes and goes and depending on what you choose to work on can even seem to regress. Ideally drawing should be its own reward. When you're studying things because you're genuinely interested and want to use them to make better drawings rather than because its in a book and someone told you to draw it can turn something that's painful into something engaging or even relaxing. Structure and discipline is fine, but take time to draw what you want. You'll learn far more and enjoy yourself more by pursuing what interests you and the problems involved as they come than by mindlessly copying books.

Need help on feeling the form.
I end up doing guesswork as to how the protrusions and depressions would be accurately depicted when setting up the figure in 3d perspective a la Loomis.
Additionally, when I do a gesture, I’ve relied on the contour as opposed to internally building the rhythm of the body.
I’ve started just drawing tons of boxes in free perspective and it’s been helping, but for more specific work that deals with the form of the figure, are there other resources to consult at the moment?
>>
>>6849982
Perspective is all over the place. I suggest using simple forms and combine them into the complex form, so its easier to keep track of the perspective
Your values are wrong which gives it a muddy look. Separate them correctly and experiement with hue shifting
>>
Practicing while necessary isn't fun so it's easy to lose focus

when my ADD brain take over I'm like a dwarf taken by a fae mood NEEDING to complete the task, but it only works with good drawing ideas/doodles/ms paint edits
I think I just have to implement the practice into something I want to draw

Embrace the robo-kino in your heart.
Scott Robertson's How To Draw might give you some pointers to improve the accuracy of your mechs.
Since the robo is such a huge dark mass, I would have reduced the brightness of the background, maybe upped the light hitting the mech so it pops more.

>>6849825
My Ultralisk can't be this cute.
I assume you're doing digital airbrushes over a scanned ink drawing?
Experiment with slightly thicker lines for masses that are closer to the viewer and thinner ones in the back. It's right claw overlays it's legs and you kept the part behind it white, which is good, but I would have made the line ever so slightly thicker so that it's more prominent as well.

>>6849901
Try tracing a face while drawing the same key points you used in these. If these are pure construction, you need to work a few from IRL references in.

>>6849928
Looking good, boss.

>>6850186
Probably the distended jaw and angle of the ears. You are bringing the mouth too much forward which creates an underbite. Pic related, top row's middle image has a similar angle for the face.

Guise, I just went on twitch to see how other artists do their stuff and they take SO FUCKING LONG doing anything. I know they have to pay attention to chat, but even then I think they take like 10 minutes to draw an arm.

How long do you guys take to draw a full body? Also, are there any professionals speedpaints without the speed, just the paint? I'm conscious in my drawing speed now.

Depends on skill level, stylization and focus. Any chat is a debuff, but 10 minutes for an arm sounds reasonable if it's foreshortened, has some design implications.

>How long do you guys take to draw a full body
I've posted it before, but purely drawing pic related took 2-3 hours and the line quality was subpar. I'd say that's my average time for similar, overlapping shape figures. 1-2 hours if it's some standing/simple figure.
>>
>>6850301
>but 10 minutes for an arm sounds reasonable if it's foreshortened
I think I'm zooming too much then.

>drawing pic related took 2-3 hours
But that's counting painting, so it sounds fine.

>>6850300
DUDE, at 2:37 hours from the vod of 4 days ago, that guy is taking ages to draw. My mind is blown, I think I'm retarded and have been going too fast all this time.
>>
>>6850312
>But that's counting painting, so it sounds fine.
Painting was up 5 hours for 7.5h total. Could have knocked it down to 6 total at best if I had a higher res reference from the get go.

Yes. Skill issue mostly, but overlapping shapes are harder to pin down. Working slower to be precise takes time in any case.

Bottom left looks about similar to the material you used.

Color in shadow comes from the light that is reflected on the ball. The reflection wouldn't travel as far. The terminator on the ball should be darker. Depending on the material of the ball, the bounce light should be brighter.

This goes into more detail about light:

how do i stop my figures from figure drawing from looking so flat
>>
>>6850473
i wish they could look like this...
>>
>>6850473
the example you give has more exaggerated form, resulting in a skinny look with similar proportions. Also general skill and time, his 3 skilled lines for the thigh vs your sketchy mess. Good work and good shapes, but lines need work hehe.
>>
>>6850479
yeah i struggle a lot with linework, it's very hard to work on a very limited timeframe. Legs in general are a pain in the ass for me.
>>
>>6850473

>>
>>6850484
Unironically try tracing some work you like if you arent already. Very quick way i improved lines, but make sure you aren't "printing" and are trying your best to replicate every individual brush stroke.
>>
>>6850488

its hard to describe, but an example doing lots of short lines when there is clearly one long line in the original. My recs are anything you like and think looks good, because your art will slowly look like that. I have been going through a korean named TACO's books for drawing anime. i found all his books for free on reddit

Do you still do construction, even if you have the intention to paint rather than do lineart?

I see what you mean by flat now.

Are there any good sites which just show you a bunch of relatively normal reference photos?

construction is useful when painting to inform your placement of light and shadow, and the types of edges forms create

you've placed the shadow ellipse too far to the right. The sphere must contact the ground inside its own shadow (the only way for the sphere to sit on the edge of its shadow is if the light is coming directly from the side, with zero elevation above the sphere). You may benefit from picking up a styrofoam sphere from the dollar store and using that with a desk lamp to set up lighting studies for yourself. Remember, draw what you see, not what you think you ought to see.
>>
>>6850186
train up your ability to render form by drawing more boxes spheres cones and cylinders in perspective

I want to make an art piece criticizing onlyfans models
need some advice on how to communicate my idea better.

This is a reference picture I took, pretend the power ranger is a stand in for a nude woman

the idea i'm trying to communicate is how young woman get roped into pursuing onlyfans as a way to make money, but of course only the top 3% make anything, while the average model makes less than $180/month, even if they do make something, once the novelty weares off to their audience they have to do more and more degrading shit to make money. I'm thinking the jar could also have a crack to symbolize the girls broken dream or something.

The idea behind the jar is a reference to the rainbow dash cumjar and to the bella delphine bathwater/piss jar product, its meant to symbolize/reference the idea of female sexuality being sold as an erotic product.

this is for an art assignment, so obviously I cant say its the holes fault. I'm worried it might come off as too sjw/femenist tho, anyone have any suggestions?
