Their choice of songs to cover, references, storytelling nuances all reflect to real life japanese culture. But if you do manage to get through all that it's an incredibly grounded story (the design being non fantastical helps) that appeals to real emotions, it's not some fleeting entertainment you just consume but rather you actively interact with it. I don't even know if I'm making any sense with this spitball but that's how I feel about it at least. Pulling the topic back to be more /ic/ adjacent, the visual elements being basic and "bland" is something I personally like a lot. I'm tired of each new gacha game seemingly competing with each other to come up with the most intricate ((unique)) designs for the last few years.
