>>
>>7366712
Colors appear different on your tablet compared to your PC because different devices use different color technologies, have varying color accuracy, and may have different default settings, resulting in variations in how colors are displayed on each screen; essentially, each device interprets and renders colors slightly differently. Hope this helps!
>>
>>7366700
they also will look different on every other PC and maybe even in different browsers. on most mobile it probably similar but that's not certain. but we know good pictures look good for everyone, so just deal with it
>>
>>7366712
>>7366723
>>7366725
All of the above. It's also why they have web safe color profiles that are supposed to remain relatively consistent across many formats. In general, if your work is going to be viewed online you go with srgb or websafe and for physical mediums you go with cmyk or something like adobe rgb.
>>
>>7366735
>>7366723
thanks. is it good practice to render everything on a separate layer, by the way (i have sleeves, torso, and face on separate layers)
>>
>>7366743
That depends entirely on your own workflow. In general when I'm blocking in my flats I separate similar colors by layer i.g. skin layer, blue shirt, black pants. There isn't one right way to do that, just whatever works for you. It'll change over time as you learn more techniques so don't worry about that too much.

>>
>>7366806
not to powerlevel, but I've been drawing every day for over a year now, so I honestly can't remember the last time I felt guilty for not having drawn. I've definitely felt a pressure to draw at one time or another since drawing every day, as I want to maintain my streak, but that's different from guilt. what whipped me into shape was thinking about my long-term goals more. idk how old you are, but I'm 27 and initially wanted to get into drawing when I was 19. I ended up quitting after a couple months and didn't draw for 4 years. I definitely felt guilt during that period and in 2020 made the resolution to stick with it. it was not perfect, but I eventually started working on prioritizing my schedule and I've managed to draw at least 30 minutes a day for over a year now, as I said. the point being that I erred, and I think a lot of us do, because we set our sights on our immediate circumstances; but if you look towards the future you will more often do what your future self would've wanted you to do. so, if you wanna make a daily habit of drawing, or at least quite frequently, try to keen an eye towards your future-self and try to get some drawing in earlier in the day rather than later (otherwise you're more likely to put it off).
>>
>>7366806
I feel guilty when I'm not drawing since I think I'm getting better. Then I draw and remember that I'm not and want to stop.

I don't see how you get to the conclusion from the premise. even if the rate of your growth is relatively slower than most people, that doesn't mean 1. that you can't change it, and 2. that you can't get to a pro level in 10 years. at any rate, all you can do is make the most out of the time, other resources, and knowledge you have, periodically assessing where there might be holes in your method of improving and how you can speed up your growth. if you have the opportunity, I would recommend looking for a good teacher, perhaps a mentor even. I think the quickest route to getting /pro/ is having that direct instruction with someone who knows what they're talking about and can explain what they know intelligebly to relative novices. otherwise just do your best to figure out the best alternatives and every so often (maybe every month or so) see how you're doing. obviously it's important to set realistic goals and not be too hard on yourself; though you don't want to be too lenient either.

It's hard to say if it would be worth it, since you're a complete blank slate you're going to be spending so much energy learning every single thing and miss some of it/not internalize it, whereas if you took the course after you had some basis, you would pick up a lot more. /ic/, i have a horrible confession to make. I love ChatGPT. I just love it. I've browsed this shithole for 5 years now, and like everyone else here, I took an anti-AI stance for years, thinking there was nothing redeemable about the tech. But my parents finally forced me to go back to school and get an engineering degree, and by God, GPT is great for homework. It solves every single problem perfectly, accurately, and with ample explanation. I barely have to study or do any work anymore. It's the world's greatest study aid and cheating tool. This tech might be the most goddamn revolutionary thing invented in the last 300 years, unironically. I don't know how this thing is so amazing. It literally knows everything. It's both awe-inspiring and scary.

I still hate AI image generation, but these LLMs man, Christ almighty

You can do Fun With a Pencil from day 1. It may seem redundant but by the time you get halfway through your skill will have improved tremendously.

weird shading.
on her collar for instance. why are all the "edges" on her collar shaded?
i also just don't personally like how you shade with a dark line on above a lighter line in a shading section.
it makes it look especially weird on her chest where it looks like you made a line in the middle to convey a wrinkle in her shirt but the dark upper lines in the shading make it look weird.

otherwise not bad.
keep it up!

From most important to least:

Study necks and how to place the head on the torso. That neck is very wrong for several reasons

Head should cast a shadow on the torso

Hair looks a bit like dough. Try to make it pointier at the end of the hair strands

Personal opinion but I also think the face isn't very cute. Study how artists you like draw the shape of the head and where they put their facial features. Those features are quite decent looking desu, you just need to place them differently

It's a weird question but are there any good books to learn how to design and draw elaborate clothes and outfits? I've been reading some fashion magazines and checking sewing patterns out but I'd like something more focused on the fundamentals of fashion/clothing design.
Anything to help me learn how to draw original costumes and whatnot, really.

one of the few pieces I could consider as 'finished' in months. fucking flowers are hard as fuck, I think I'm going to grind a few after this. opinions?

looking at this, what do you think should I work on currently? last few months have been fundies grind, doodling heads practicing construction, the first 4 weeks of Dynamic Sketching stretched over 3 months (not because I didn't do the exercises, I just kept repeating them because I wasn't satisfied with the results) and some light reading/practice on gesture drawing. Currently dipping my toes in a second copy of Bridgman (looking, tried doing the no-copy one and it was a disaster). I have a few books in my backlog but lately I have been mostly doing things I can do in small spaces of time.

because you just draw and keep drawing
loomis is something you use when you're at art block plateau so much you're willing to abandon all those modern guides that are loomis but better
>>
>>7367468
Better than most first portraits I've seen. To get better, you're gonna have to focus on anatomy and rendering, your anatomy is innacurate (eyes too big, shoulders too narrow, neck too narrow too, asymmetrical ears and jawbone, etc.) and your shading/rendering is non-existant, so your character is really flat. That said, you have a nice eye for seeing the space relations between the features and your thirds are okay.
As usual, read Loomis. It will do you good. Michael Hampton is even better, but more advanced.

So it picks up some color from the paper. But it doesn't actually matter what order you put any of the layers in, multiplication is commutative. I think the values being good matters more than the color being good, so I tend to do shadows first.

"Ghost" your lines before you commit to them, hover with your pencil above the paper making the mark you're planning to make before actually making it, this should make your sketches a lot cleaner.

I tried improving her hair. Does this look good, I'm really not sure about this look yet. It's WIP, please try not to judge it beyond the hair that much.

But anon you dont understand. I must draw in under an hour and post. I must be judged by my scribbles. It is imperative I get get the drawing perfect in no more than 5 no 10 minutes at most or else I'll never be good. No I will not go back and fix it, I will simply start the next drawing.

I'm not happy with my edit, yellow and blue are hard hues. to keep it to 3 colors I would go with the yellow shades a bit more green (move the hue wheel towards the greens.) I made mine a bit more orangy >>7366839 because I think it gives a bit more depth, it will go more greenish because of the ambient light instead of a reddish hue.

I will happily surrender myself to the altar of three dimensional understanding.

the way i see and do them is a simple shape that doesnt have details and it seems fuzzy because they blend the edges a bit to the skin, adding some occlusion, same way some artists would blend the hairline and the forehead.
I'm not the best at it, but thats what i do, a fuzzy shape that has some softer edges and gets darker as it goes down

Not getting a reply doesn’t mean nobody liked it, it just means nobody has said anything yet. Who knows how many saw it and liked it? Which drawing is yours anyways??

digital art isn't just "pick up a brush and dip it in some paint," though. you have to know about layers and modes and tools and downloading brushes and materials and shit. unless you think i'm going to be able to render well by just using the default csp pen and changing colors manually over and over?
