What exactly is the reasoning behind keeping Paris within 18th century borders? Do French like to insist on keeping artificial dependent administrative units which make bureaucracy more troublesome?

Paris will be the same as Tokyo within a couple years, the metropolitan area will be fully integrated and known as Paris.
There just is too much political power in Paris itself (20 district mayors, 1 city mayor, 21 MPs) for the oligarchy to change it.

It's all Paris to me

If I go to 93 but don't step foot into 75 I will still say I was in Paris and no one can stop me

Suburb folx are truly the most oppressed race.
Ruthlessly shamed for being poor every day, and it's socially acceptable to do it to them.
