Tell me about Silesia
my family is from there pre 1945. Breslau specifically
>>221724341Are Silesians Germanic
>>221724341Nigga Wrocław isn't even real Silesia. If you're going to LARP at least shoot for the core region
>>221724810how is it larp? i just stated my backround Chud
>>221724608Well the German ones but they are all old people Assimilated into west germany. Bjt i think there is a slavic miniority that was allowed to stay
Apparently in Upper Silesia only 30% speak German at home. In Czech Silesia almost no one speaks German
>>221724315>>221725114There's a Czech guy from there who posts here, usually at night
I am from Silesia. >>221725172thats me, nigga, howdy
>>221725194B-b-b-ased
>>221725294And yes, all of my grandparents spoke German. After 1945, they were allowed to stay because they were not considered Sudeten Germans (and Czech Silesia needed workers for its coal mines and steel factories). After the war, my grandfather had to work in the coal mines for several years (as an alternative to military service and as punishment for his "involvement" in the Wehrmacht)
>>221724315I have a branch of my family there and they are all fat
>>221725462Why could they stay?
>>221725633They were not considered Germans or Sudeten Germans. Literally no one in my extended family had to leave the country, even though they served in the Wehrmacht, the Kriegsmarine,...Only one of my grandfather's cousins chose to stay in West Germany (he served in the SS), after 1960, he began traveling to Czechoslovakia (without any problems) as a wealthy tourist.
>>221725462There is a German David Letterman. His parents are from Silesia as well. He's the only one who calls a spade a spade about the postwar behaviors towards these people.
>>221725752It's all the history now, my dudewho caresthe German government gave us German passports, the Czech government returned our confiscated property, and they’re all dead anyway
>>221725844Still you would expect a few people to complain a little bit
>>221725906>a few people to complain a little bit0only one of my grandmothers is still alive today (her parents were in Dachau), and it's just a distant memory, not a traumatic experience and shit but it really depends on which part of Czech Silesia we're talking about - people from the Opava (Troppau) area would probably say something different
>>221724315It's currently under German administration so all is well. Next thing is promoting the German language to the public
