Otherwise, Goannas are harmless.

I watched a clip the other week of an antelope that ended up in a big muddy puddle after being chased by hungry hyenas. That big muddy puddle was being used as a place to chill for a hippo, which the hyenas didn't dare approach. After a little while of the antelope trying to escape, the hippo suddenly ran out of patience, stormed over, grabbed it by the head and thrashed it around like a dog to a pillow. Absolutely brutal.

Fun fact, there's like 10 different insects around the world which are all called "daddy longlegs" by their local populace, and it's likely no surprise that only the one in Australia is actually both a spider and produces venom. I don't know if this is how the myth about them having the deadliest venom but fangs too small to penetrate skin came about but it's probably why there's so much media around Daddy Longlegs with conflicting information on the internet.

Although that being said your daddy longlegs is probably the same as the Russian's.

Like 8cm in diameter w/ legs. Caught it in my room, wasn't too happy about it and ran 2 loops around my hand but didn't freak out too much. Put it in a nearby shrubbery.

the biggest spider I have ever seen leg-span wise was about 15-20cm wide.
I laid down on a jetty on a dam to look underneath and this cunt was no a beam right in front of my face. It had a relatively small body and was super slender, looked like the kind of spider that can walk on water to catch shit.

Honestly for me it’s not the bugs and spiders I’m afraid of or anything like that.

Our fucking skin cancer rates are through the roof and it doesn’t help I live on the coast where it’s wierd to goto the beach and cover up.

I’ve alreayd got a huge mole but the doc says it isn’t cancerous. Gotta be careful though, the Aussie sun already nearly claimed my pop and my mum :(

I'd trade having spideys and lizards if we could get rid of the moose and bears. These fuckers will chase you down and kill you.

usually i leave them alone, but this one took my by so much surprise my first instinct was to kill it.
>>

I had a big huntsman drop on my face while sneaking through the side door as a teen, so I guess the biggest spider I've "seen" was the size of a teenagers face.

Fun fact is Mexico technically has more venomous creatures living there then here.
Not sure how many of them are lethal to humans though.

>>95972070
Had a rainy spell a few months ago that really bucketed down and had this huntsman come inside to get out of the rain. It was hilariously big, like 'its a fucking cartoon' huge with legs about 15cm across and it disappeared into the missus' shoe closet. So rather than face an expensive divorce I spent the better part of an hour coming to the conclusion that the wife owns too many shoes and despite being a huge bastard, they're quick!
Eventually bagged him in a salad bowl container and thrown back into the wild.

There was also a northern tree funnelweb I caught years ago that was also remarkably big, captured that one and took it to a university to verify wtf it was. No new species :(
About the only claim to fame was "its the biggest funnelweb we've ever seen" and spent the rest of its life being milked for antivenom. They apparently live for 20-30 years in the wild which I think is kind of neat
