So did character like Alice or Marisa just build their homes on their own or did they hire someone to do it?
Alice's dolls built hers, Marisa stole hers
>>48022428Marisa probably just found an abandoned house in the forest and took it over while Alice probably ask her mommy to make one or her
Man, I wanna be Marisa!
>>48022855She has a nice house and owns propertyThat's better then most people have nowadays
>>48022651She probably had to build the observatory, though.
>>48022428Marisa's house seems super homey
>>48024443Very optimistic image. In reality it's all rotten, all kinds of stuff on the floor and the air inside is so insipid that it makes the toxic miasma from the forest feel like the gentlest breeze from the ocean. The house is all dark and full of mushrooms and half eaten food.

>>48022428All construction in the Forest of Magic is handled by Yousei and Sons, which employs all the male fairies in Gensokyo, which is why you never see any of them in the games.Unlike their womenfolk, who spend their time playing games; performing pranks; holding drinking parties; and preying on innocent oji-sans, the men wholeheartedly enjoy hard labor and spend all their time working (there's still drinking, of course, but they do that on the job, like respectable gentlemen), as well as forging all the fairy tools and sewing all the fairy clothes required in fairy society (which is how the fairies always have everything they need to run stalls during shrine festivals). They mostly work for fairies (as fairy homes are constantly being destroyed by youkai and humans during their fights), but they occasionally labor for the tallfolk as well, which is how people like Marisa and Alice, who obviously know nothing about architecture, manage to live in the forest.

>>48030383Eh, partly. The ones that are more "poor" usually follow the "folk" types of magic with lots of improv. Those that are more "well off" tend to fall more into the more ceremonial and theatrical types of magic.

Interior discussion in /jp/? Yeah, count me in.>random writefag babble incomingMarisa Kirisame's house, nestled deep within the Forest of Magic, is a curious mix of ingenuity, clutter, and charm, reflecting its owner's eccentricity and resourcefulness. Built with a combination of wood, stone, and reclaimed materials, the house possesses a rustic, homespun aesthetic, but the magical elements woven throughout make it stand out from the mundane. From the foundation up, Marisa's abode was crafted with a combination of manual labor and magic throughout the years. Rinnosuke Morichika aided her in constructing the house during her early days after fleeing the Human Village. His expertise in both practical and magical artifacts ensured that her house would be sturdy and functional, despite its secluded location. Over time, Marisa’s ever-growing collection of trinkets, tools, and mushrooms began to define the cluttered yet cozy interior.Smooth stone walls provide a surprisingly sturdy foundation, while an old-fashioned, Western-style roof—complete with a chimney that puffs out light curls of smoke—adds to its rustic charm. The walls, though solid, are overgrown with creeping ivy and moss, giving the house an organic feel that blends with the surrounding forest. In terms of utilities, the house is entirely off-the-grid, lacking any connection to electricity, a modern premium resource originating from beyond the Barrier. This, however, posed no issue for Marisa. Having grown up in the Human Village—which also operates without electricity—she found innovative ways to meet her needs using both her magical skills and her relentless creativity.Inspired by the glowing magical lamps of Voile, the sprawling library in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Marisa recreated a makeshift version using enchanted orbs she had... *borrowed* during one of her casual raids on Patchouli’s domain. These floating orbs of light illuminate her home with a soft glow, activated by simple verbal commands or gestures, and capable of adjusting their brightness based on the room’s needs. Candles are also scattered throughout the house for a more rustic touch, their warm flickering light adding an old-world charm to her otherwise bizarre surroundings. For plumbing, she installed a basic system using enchanted pipes that draw water from a nearby stream. The water is heated and filtered through a combination of runes and charms she designed herself, allowing her to enjoy warm baths even in the midst of the forest’s chilly seasons. The house itself is divided into several rooms, each serving a particular purpose, though finding your way through the maze of clutter can be quite the challenge. The main living space doubles as her workshop and spell laboratory, with shelves upon shelves lined with books, mushrooms, potion ingredients, and half-finished magical devices. Piles of loose papers containing various arcane formulas and sketches litter the floor, along with tools, research notes, and the occasional enchanted broom. This area is undoubtedly chaotic, but for Marisa, it’s a system that works—she always seems to know exactly where everything is, even if no one else could make sense of it.Adjacent to the main room is her small kitchen, where she prepares her meals, often incorporating mushrooms from her nearby farm. Like the rest of the house, the kitchen is filled with magical workarounds—there are enchanted pots and pans that heat themselves, magically purified water for cooking, and a stove that operates using a controlled burst of flame from her mini-Hakkero.Marisa’s bedroom, located in the attic, is perhaps the least orderly room of all. The large space is filled to the brim with personal items, old spellbooks, more mushrooms, magical artifacts, and a few stolen goods from her raids. The bed is often strewn with blankets, pillows, and even more magical trinkets, all of which combine to give the room a thoroughly lived-in feel. A large window overlooks the forest, providing ample light during the day and a perfect view of the starry night sky during her late-night study sessions. It’s also important to note that Marisa’s house serves as more than just a place for herself—it’s also the location of her unofficial shop. Though few people ever find it, the front room is technically a "store" where Marisa sells potions, charms, and magical artifacts that she’s either made or pilfered from others. The shelves are a hodgepodge of bizarre items, many of which don’t have price tags or any indication of what they’re used for. Customers brave enough to visit are often left bewildered, though Marisa seems to relish the confusion her chaotic setup causes.
>>48048452That sounds pretty nice, I wish we would see the inside of Marisa's house in canon though

And there are various tells, e.g. "It’s also important to note", is a big one, and although it's not present here, ChatGPT loves the word "delve". The general tone is that of a corporate press release crossed with a high-school essay. Everything is more verbose than it needs to be. And even though a simple description is an easy thing for it to write, because it's just stringing cliches together, it still manages to fuck up the logic:>Inspired by the glowing magical lamps of Voile, the sprawling library in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, Marisa recreated a makeshift version using enchanted orbs she had... *borrowed* during one of her casual raids on Patchouli’s domain.Stealing Patchouli's lighting system is not recreating a makeshift version inspired by it.>Candles are also scattered throughout the house for a more rustic touch, their warm flickering light adding an old-world charmBut she grew up without electricity, so why would she think that?

What about the wild youkai? How do they live? Some live in hollowed trees but do others just have to lie on the forest floor? How do they all go to the bathroom? Do these hundreds of human-sized youkai just shit on the ground? How do you even avoid all that? Do you know how much shit would be produced just from Rumia eating a single adult? Walking around in the forest must be misery and that's probably what's created the toxic miasma within the forest. That must be why everyone flies in Gensokyo too, to avoid the copious amount of guano.
>>48083704Remilia says that youkai don't have brains in the human sense so it's very possible that they don't shit like usSatori says she can sense the remnants of negative thoughts in the Forest of Magic so it's possible that youkai and other beings produce spiritual shit instead of physical excrements.

What type of rooms does Sannyo's brothel have?
Whatever happened to the castle?
>>48252914Homeless people (Seija, Shion, Tenshi) have moved in
>>48252914Is the inchling back at her castle or is she still squatting at reimus?
>>48252914still just hanging around near yokai mountain.
>>48024443She's lucky she doesn't have allergies because all I can imagine is how much dust would be in here
where is the safest place to live if you got kicked out of the village? maybe moving close to the hakurei shrine?
>>48266363Implying youkai don't come near Hakurei shrineMyouren temple is near the village and you could probably hang out around them or the Taoists
>>48266363if possible i'd try boarding the ropeway to moriya shrine and have them figure it out, most likely sanae takes you to hakurei shrine to go back to the outside world. nowhere is really safe if you can't fend for yourself.if you stay in gensokyo you're kinda screwed on that premise. you did something to cause the village to reject you as a human and exile you, if you do manage to find a way to survive out there it wouldn't be long until you'd begin the process of youkaification to conform with those beliefs/fears that you're inhuman. and then it's just a matter of time until reimu shows up to give you the fortune teller treatment.
>>48255199I think she moved home, but i don't remember where i read that
>>48266363Joining the Taoists by far. As a bonus you'd be hanging out close to Daikon-sama.

I wonder if Kogasa have her own workshop set up
>>48285521In my vision of Gensokyo she does. It's just not well known, until Kogasa realized she can scare people with sticker shock or implying the job will cost them a literal arm and leg.
